Chapter One Hundred One
*One week time skip*
***Kautious***
Hadrian’s rut is finally finished. Scorpius started his a day after Hadrian, so today is his last recovery day. It has been a very long and tiring week with 2 alphas in rut and 2 overly sensitive, pregnant omegas. Not to mention I feel all emotions in an extremely heightened state. I am tired and just want to sleep all day, but I have a checkup to check on the twins just because I’m paranoid and called to be checked on after spending time with 2 rutting alphas at once. I reluctantly get out of bed, making my way over to the bathroom. I glance in the body-length mirror we have hanging behind the door, and I notice my stomach looks bloated. I guess that could happen at almost 8 weeks with twins, but I will ask the doctor to be sure. I finish my business, brush my teeth, and get dressed in a pair of shorts with a loose shirt. Leaving the bathroom, I make my way down to the kitchen to have a quick breakfast. When I get down there, I see Rollie sitting at the table talking to Hadrian. I give them both a smile and a little wave, approaching my mate to kiss his cheek. He wraps an arm around my waist and pulls me in, “Where are you going dressed like that, sweetheart?” I smile and pat his arm, “I called to have an appointment for the twins because I’m paranoid after the rut period, and I want to make sure they’re okay.” He nods in understanding, “I have a few things to take care of today, and I think Faye and Scorp are still sleeping. Did you need someone to come with you?” I shrug, “I think I’ll be okay.” Rollie speaks up for the first time, “I’ll go if you’re okay with that. I’d like to see the babies in person and make sure you, as well as them, are okay.”
I nod and give him a smile, “That’s fine! How are you and Jack, by the way?” Rollie blushes a bright red and mumbles something along the lines of ‘good.’ I smile because I am happy my brother finally found his mate, especially one who is willing to travel with him so that he doesn’t have to change his lifestyle much. They go to a lot of places doing business and exploring. I pull myself from my thoughts, turning to kiss Hadrian’s cheek again before leaving his arms to make my way to the kitchen. I grab some fruit out of the fridge and make a quick oatmeal breakfast to eat before I go to the doctor. When I’m done, I quickly wash my dishes and go to the front door to put my shoes on. Rollie meets me there, giving me a big smile as he opens the door for me. We walk to the doctor’s, talking about small things and making plans for the future, such as little vacations or night runs. When we get to the doctor, I check in, and then the doctor brings us back. He gives Rollie an odd look, and I explain that he is my brother and he would like to be here for the ultrasound to make sure the pups and I are okay.
The doctor nods and takes my vitals, stating that they all look good. He brings up the ultrasound machine and has me lay back before. He adds the gel and starts to rub the wand around. “Okay, see this little bean here? This is Baby A. Aaaaand this one here is Baby B! They both look perfectly healthy so far. Would you like to hear their heartbeats?” The doctor talks as they run the wand over my stomach. I look at Rollie, who has tears in his eyes, before I turn back to the doctor and nod, “Yes, I’d like to hear their heartbeats, please.” The doctor nods and pulls out a different wand, running it over my stomach until we hear 2 little beats beating together in sync. I can’t help the tears that start to fill my eyes and slip slowly down my cheek. Rollie grabs my hand, giving it a small squeeze of comfort. I let out a small sob as the doctor cleans up my stomach and helps me sit up. Writing down my next appointment, the doctor turns to me and smiles, “Everything looks good, and the babies are growing healthy. You’re going to grow a lot faster than last time because there are 2 pups. You will also need to eat more and drink more water to be sure that you stay healthy and don’t faint. These pups are going to suck a lot of energy out of you for them to be able to grow healthy.” I nod, “Yes, I will do my best to make sure I get them the nutrients they need to grow. Thank you for everything doctor. I truly appreciate it.”
After the doctor’s appointment, Rollie and I decided to get ice cream. When we got to the ice cream parlor, Rollie got a vanilla cone while I got a double mint chocolate chip with Oreo pieces in it. Rollie looked at me oddly but then gives me a light laugh, “Pregnancy craving?” I nod shyly and sit down with my ice cream. We sit there, eating our ice cream in silence for a moment. Rollie decides to finally speak up, “So, I was wondering, as a godparent, what do you expect from me?” I smile at him, “Rollie, it isn’t complicated. I don’t expect you to go above and beyond, even if I know you will, because that’s who you are. Godparent or not, the only thing I truly wish for is that you are there for my pups. I want you to love them wholeheartedly and always be open-minded with them as they grow.” Rollie nods, eyes slowly tearing up, “I will Kautious. I will love them with all my heart, and I will always make sure they know it. I want to be in their lives no matter what and show them the true meaning of having a good family. You and your mates will do absolutely wonderfully in raising the pups. I just want to be part of the best support system they can have.” I nod, a few tears filling my eyes as well, as I get up and hug Rollie tightly before whispering, “They will absolutely adore you.”
