Chapter 27
Marcio's fists were clenched tightly, as he had never been treated that way by a mere child, not even his father had treated him that way, and Lilian seemed calm, but she was dying of laughter inside.
“If you fail, don't blame anyone else, because as far as I remember, I never had anything to do with the Real group, right? Or did I and you never told me?” she asked with a smile.
Everyone in the room was shocked to hear how Lilian had given Marcio Arbex his long-buried peace of mind.
“Lilian, stop, or I'll get mad at you, and you'll end up in the ICU with what I'll do to you with my own hands!” Leandro couldn't stand to see his daughter ridicule her brother, besides, he knew he would get in trouble if Marcio got angry.
Lilian turned her gaze back to her father, and there was no expression on her delicate face, just a calm look around her eyes and forehead.
“Oh, Daddy, do you want to hear what I have to say to you too?” Lilian laughed slightly, showing her confidence. “I sacrificed myself by marrying someone from the Legrand family, and you have no right to say that I destroyed the company, because I was the only one who sacrificed myself for this company!” Lilian continued talking when she got no response from her father.
Leandro's eyes deepened as he heard her words, and only feelings of shock and confusion filled his mind when he saw his daughter's courage.
"I was married to Ethan for almost five years, and during that time, you should have been smart enough to take advantage of everything the Royal Group had to offer you and build up the company with all your strength, but what did you do? Nothing. And when it all came crashing down, you blamed me for your mistakes!
Lilian looked at everyone in the room, one by one, and when she met her mother's tearful gaze, she clenched her fist and quickly looked back at her father.
"You should be thanking me, not the other way around! “ she said with a deep sigh, giving her father a half smile. ”Father, I just want you to know that I have decided to end our relationship, and as a result, you have lost your daughter, and from now on, I will no longer be a part of your life." Despite trying to remain calm, Lilian's voice trembled with emotion, revealing the pain and difficulty of her decision.
“Daughter, what are you saying? Stop it!” Juci said as he walked toward his daughter and held Lilian's cold hand. “Apologize to your father and be a filial daughter!”
Not only was Juci surprised by Lilian's words, but Gisele was also surprised, and she ran to Lilian and tried to stop her from saying stupid things that would make Leandro even more angry.
“Lilian, you can't say those words lightly, because we never blamed you...” Gisele said in a low voice, holding Lilian's shoulder. “Your uncle and your father were only angry because you didn't come home after the divorce, that's all.”
“Auntie, do you think I'm so stupid that I can't tell the difference?” Lilian wanted to say, but she was too emotionally exhausted to speak to her.
Lilian could only smile at Gisele and her mother without saying anything, and her gaze slowly turned to her father, who was still staring at her with a piercing look. Hearing Lilian's last words, Leandro felt as if he had been struck by lightning.
Countless worries now haunt him. How could she say those words so naturally? Does she really want to break family ties? No, this girl must be bluffing, right?
Leandro shook his head slightly. As her father, he knew how sensitive Lilian's heart was and that she would never do such a thing.
The fear that had settled in his mind slowly disappeared, and Leandro laughed cynically, breaking the silence in the room. Everyone looked at him, including Lilian, who narrowed her eyes at her father.
“You think you can end our relationship so easily? Lilian, you are an Arbex through and through, and blood is thicker than water, so no matter what you say, our family name will always be linked to yours, and if you apologize, I will teach you a lesson myself!”
“That's enough!” A deep, hoarse voice rang out from the corner.
Everyone in the room was shocked to hear that familiar voice, and they looked in that direction, and Carlos Arbex was sitting on the bed, staring at them.
“Father, you're finally awake!” Marcio said in shock.
“President!” Nicholas whispered, lowering his head.
“Dad, I'm so glad to see you! ”Gisele ran to her father, feeling her heart beat out of her chest. “This is a true miracle! ”She cried, holding and kissing his hand.
Carlos smiled gently at Gisele and then turned his gaze in a specific direction, and Marcio and the others also walked close to the bed, with only Lilian and Nicholas behind.
Lilian watched from the corner as everyone surrounded her grandfather, and she didn't want to be scolded by them, nor did she want to ruin the happy moment when her grandfather finally woke up.
Shortly after, Lilian was shocked to hear her grandfather ask everyone to leave the room, and when she was about to leave, Nicholas stopped her.
“Not you,” Nicholas whispered, and even though she was confused, she returned to her place and followed Nicholas' advice.
“Dad, why did you tell us to leave?” Marcio asked, confused. “You just woke up from a coma, and we all want to spend time with you!”
“I'm going to ask the doctor to come check on Dad. I'm afraid he's uncomfortable in some way and that's why he wants to be alone!” Pedro said, worried.
“You don't need to do that, I don't want to see the doctor, I'm fine and healthy!” Carol said as she looked at her three children, one by one, her gaze radiating annoyance and disappointment, surprising Marcio and the others.
“But Dad, what Pedro said is...” Marcio couldn't continue his sentence when he saw his father raise his hand to stop him from speaking.
“Marcio, Leandro, and you, Pedro... I am truly disappointed in each and every one of you, and I'm not dead yet, but none of you obeyed my orders.” Carlos said in a low, trembling voice, his disappointment evident in his tone.
