Chapter 30

Andrew was confused.

He yearned for her so much that he felt like exploding. He loved the feeling he felt and how she felt in his arms.

She licked his lips reminiscing their little moment earlier than curiosity got the best of him. He wondered how her life has been over the few years and how she lived.

He wondered if she had a man in her life and was leaving fine. He felt like going crazy, just a little intimate moment they share earlier, and he wanted her back in his arms again.

Christiana needed to talk to Mr. Holt about this. She just couldn't be around Andrew especially after what happened.

She was definitely not over him and what happened earlier proved it. She knew having anything to do with him will be involving his mother and she didn't want to die not see anyone related to her die too.

She wanted his touch; she loved his touch, yet she had to stop it before things got out of hand. She held the tears that threatened to come out of her eyes as she went back home.

Once she reached her house, she broke down and began to cry her eyes out. It hurt so much. It was as if her heart wanted out of her chest. Memories of them together resurfaced in her head and she cried more and more.

Andrew felt hair was something that he didn't know of. There was something within him that told him he didn't know anything at all. Most times, he thought of the possibilities that his mother had something to do with Christiana running away but he shrugged off such thought that his mother wasn't that heartless.

'Why did she run away from me? Just why?' He asked within himself. His heart ached a lot, he couldn't help but drown himself in alcohol once more. He was hurting more than she could ever imagine.

Andrew took his phone from the table and dialed a number. "I want you to gather information about Christiana Bernardo from the last five years. She resides in Sydney now." He didn't need to say much to his private investigator, the man knew how to do his work well.

Andrew vowed to get Christiana back, even if he had to beg. Even if he has to go to extreme means, he promised to have her back in his life as she was the missing piece he needed.

He was deprived of happiness as soon as she left his life, he lost his zeal and drive and did everything for the sake of doing it.

Drew cheered as soon as he and his mother got home. He hated being away from her. When his mother came to pick him, his sad face was replaced with a happy one.

"Mummy," he called pulling her skirt for attention.

"Yes, my baby boo?" Christmas replied, squatting down to his level.

"Mummy, don't leave me tomorrow. I wanna stay with you all day," he whined, still tugging at her skirt.

"Aww," she cooed, pinching his cheek lightly. "But mother has to work, baby boo,” she said to him, hoping he'd understand.

He pouted, staring at his mother. "I miss Grandpa and Uncle John."

Drew was really close to John and his grandpa. Whenever his mother wasn't around, he stayed with them and played with Cleo all day. Cleo was the name of John's daughter.

"Promise me that you'd take me with you tomorrow," he pleaded, eyes glistening with tears already. "I do not want to be away. All I do is sleep and eat and I have no one to play with me," he explained with a frown on his face.

"I promise, now please don't cry," she hugged him tight, peppering kisses all over his face.

"Yay!" He cheered up. "Thanks so much mummy," he said to her and she kissed him on his cheek.

Christiana entered Mr. Holt's office. She needed him to take her off the project. She couldn't work with Andrew; she was still madly in love with him.

She knocked on his office door and after some seconds, he told her to come in. Mr. Holt was busy reading some files on his table when Christiana came in.

"Good morning sir," she greeted.

"Good morning Christiana," he replied.

“Excuse me sir," she said getting his attention.

Mr. Holt raised his head up to look at her, he placed the file on his hand on the table, giving her his full attention.

"I really need...sir I was wondering..." She stuttered not knowing how to tell him she wanted out.

"Yes, I'm listening," Mr. Holt said to her.

"Is it possible for me to not be in charge of the project with Power International Limited?" She asked.

The skin between his brows creased, "Why do you want out of this project? Did he abuse you by chance?" Mr. Holt asked.

Andrew didn't abuse her, she let him touch her, she was just scared that if she continued with this project, she'd endanger the lives of her loved ones.

"That's ... that's not it, sir."

"He did nothing if such. It's just personal to me. Please, I really want off this project."

Mr. Holt knew something was wrong, he just needed to know the reason. "I'll only do that if you tell me the truth. It seems like he knows you."

Christiana lost her ability to speak. She couldn't come up with an excuse for her past relationship with Andrew. She just didn't seem it right at all. She heaved a sigh of defeat.

"Ms. Bernardo?" he called in a questioning way.

"He's my ex-boyfriend." There, she said it.

"Your ex-boyfriend? I don't want to pry into your life but what really happened between the both of you?" he asked. Tears began to roll down Christiana's cheek.

She didn't like reminiscing about her past. It always taunted her; always made her regret her actions. It always sent fear throughout her being.

"I'm so sorry Ms. Bernardo, it must be a very sad experience. But Mr. Power doesn't look like someone who'd hurt anyone."

She wished she could explain but she couldn't. She didn't know where to start with all that had happened, but she managed. He was shocked by the fact that a mother would want to kill a child for such selfish reasons.

"Does Mr. Power know you have his child?" Christiana shook her head no. She felt better after her rant. Although she doubted if she should tell him but now that she did, she felt at ease.

Thankfully, Mr. Holt was a kind man and a great listener.

"I'll take you off this project and tell Mr. Power you were transferred to our other company in Trinidad and Tobago, but you'll still be here." Christiana's face broke into a big grin.

"Thank you so much, sir!" She jumped up and down, leaping with joy. She was beyond happy to know that she wouldn't be seeing Andrew anymore.

She walked out of Mr. Holt's office, grateful, and left to go and get Drew who was with her colleagues. She was making her way downstairs when she saw Andrew's car in the parking lot through the glass. He'd just come down.

Her eyes widened as she realized that she brought Drew with her to the office today.

Drew was with her colleagues in front of the building so there was no way he'd seen either of them yet. She rushed to the front of the building. When she reached the lobby, she saw Drew with Samantha. Andrew was getting closer. She needed to act fast. Drew was the younger version of his father, if he saw Drew, he'd surely be curious. She walked towards Samantha and dragged Drew away facing the other direction and hiding behind a car before Andrew reached Samantha.

Samantha was shocked by her actions, wondering why she had dragged Drew off that way.

"Mum—" Drew started but Christiana was sure to place her hand over his mouth, preventing him from speaking.
