Chapter 39 - Dangerously Obsessed
**Lisa**
“What?”
“I bought it yesterday. It’s mine now.”
I blinked.
“You bought what? The entire restaurant?”
He nodded affirmatively as if he just announced that he bought doughnuts on his way home.
“Why would you even do that?” I asked, running my fingers through my hair.
He shrugged. “Because I can.”
“I’m sure you can buy this hotel too but you haven’t done so, yet”
“Would you like me to do that?” He asked, with his arms folded.
“Are you crazy? That’s not my point!”
He leaned back in his chair, clearly amused by the entire situation, “I don’t want last night to ever repeat itself so I bought it off. Only the owner can really determine what goes on in an organisation.”
“You have clearly lost your mind.” I said, staring at him in disbelief.
“I’m the new owner, so I call the shots now. That’s why I banned men from enticing the facility forever.”
“You did what?”
“Hey, relax. Male staff are still allowed, just not male guests.”
“You are a total weirdo.” I whispered.
“No, honey. You mean to say, thank you and to that, you’re welcome.”
My fire was on fire, and my insides told me I might explode anytime soon.
“Why would you do that!” I screamed, totally losing it.
“Shh, keep your voice down. I told you, no regrets. I’d do it all over again. No one touches what’s mine and gets away with it. And you, Lisa, You, are mine.” He said in a very stern tone.
I was speechless.
“This is a crime against common sense!”
He shrugged it off.
Oh my God, I was so going to kill him but I’ll need to stop blushing first.
“You say you don’t like it, but your face tells me a different story.” Damon teased, touching my cheek.
I swat his arms out of my face, “Shut up!” I say before running to my room for safety.
Damon might have been irrational but I think I might have actually liked it. I needed to have a moment to myself, free from the chaos and whirlwind of emotions that came with being around Damon.
Still embarrassed at my reaction to Damon’s alpha male attitude, I locked myself up in my room all day and spent the rest of my days scrolling social media with the hotel mi-fi. Until a huge wave of hunger blew past me.
I heard a soft knock on my door and I groaned internally. I really don’t want to deal with him right now. I walked sluggishly and resentfully to the door and opened it. To my greatest surprise, Damon wasn’t behind the door, and to my greatest delight, there was a food cart in front of me, by some miracle.
I didn’t notice the uniformed staff until she said, “Ma’am, I was asked to deliver this here. Bon Appetit.”
“Thank you.” I said, and I meant it. I opened the door wider to create space for the cart as she wheeled it into my room.
I asked her to put the tray on my bed and when she left I dug in. At the meals I’ve had so far on this trip have been chef’s kiss and this was no exception. I ate delightfully and packed the leftovers into the small fridge in my bedroom. One lesson I learnt today is to always save for the rainy day.
I was back in bed and with my food again when I received a message from Damon.
“You haven’t eaten all day. I didn’t buy a restaurant to starve my princess. Sent something to you because I can tell you’re avoiding me, I hope you enjoy it. Please eat, not for me, but for you and our baby.”
A small smile appeared on my face. He was cute. This little gesture was cute. A sense of warmth washed over my chest. It was foreign but I welcomed it. I don’t think I would be able to stay mad at him for wrong.
The Damon I knew would have just said a cold, “Eat this. You need it.” But a lot seems to have changed in Paris. It’s hard to believe that this is the same Damon that had asked me to get rid of this baby. Guess people really change.
—
You know those moments where you fall asleep but don’t even realize it until you wake up? Well, I just had one of those.
I was surprised to see the lights in the living area were still on. I looked around and saw Damon with his face glued to his laptop. The exact same spot he had been in when I woke up earlier today.
“What are you doing?” I asked with a loud yawn.
“What does it look like I’m doing?” He asked back, typing furiously on his keypad.
“Sir. I have sent all the emails as requested. Please can you review the proposals I drafted? I already forwarded it to your email. I’m waiting to—” I cut the call.
“Did you just cut my secretary off?” He said icily, his eyes meeting mine.
“What does it look like?” I threw his question back at him, happy to finally have his attention. “It’s late, Damon. You should be sleeping and whoever you were talking to also needs rest.”
“And you look like you’ve been sleeping. I’m sure you slept long enough for us both.” He joked but I didn’t share his amusement.
“I’m serious. You’re overworking yourself. You’re literally at the verge of a nervous breakdown.” I pressed.
“Aright. Fine. I will sleep soon, I promise. I just need to tie a few things up.”
I gave him a look that said I wasn’t buying it.
“Alright.” He said, shutting his laptop and standing from his chair.
I yawned loudly again, stretching out my tired limbs.
“You seem tired.” He observed.
“That's because I am. I'm tired from doing absolutely nothing. I can't believe we didn't have any fun today. It's all your fault since you chose to be a workaholic”
“That's rich coming from you, Lisa. You literally ignored me all day.”
“Well, I'm not the one that bought an entire restaurant to have piss off some random guy. That was the wildest move in the World's history of bad decisions.”
“You know he wasn't some random guy. I had very valid reasons for my actions. Besides, you seemed very uncomfortable with the attention he was giving you. I thought you'd even thank me for getting rid of him.”
“I didn't think you noticed.”
“I noticed. I see everything when it comes to you.”
I swallowed the huge lump in my throat. I quickly recovered.
“Whatever. That's not the point. The point is, we are supposed to be having a fun time here in Paris but I guess today was off your calendar.”
“Go get dressed.” He said with a tone of finality.
“What?” I was totally confused.
“Did I stutter? Put something decent on, there's somewhere I've been meaning to show you.”
“Where? Where are you taking me?”
“It wouldn't be a surprise anymore if I tell you, just go in and get dressed, Lisa.” He said he was starting to lose his patience.
“Isn't it too late? It's already dark and—”
“It’s not late, it's perfect timing. This is the best time to see it. That's why we're going now.”
I eyed him with suspicion. What was he up to this time?
“For God's sake Lisa, if I have to say that one more time.” He sucked in a hard breath and continued in a calmer voice “Put something warm on and meet me downstairs. Don't make me say it again,” he snapped and that sent me running to my room with a burst of excitement.
