Chapter 172
Chapter 172
Allie:
I thought being slammed into the tree had hurt, but waking up was brutal. I looked around all three of my siblings came into view.
“You’re awake!”
“Get Fallon!”
“Allie!”
“Thank the goddess!”
“How do you feel?”
“Are you in any pain?”
“What were you thinking, going off on your own like that!”
“Thank god you’re alright!”
“We’ve been here the whole time,”
I was hit with a barrage of words and worries as my brothers and sister fussed over me as I attempted to sit up. They were silenced when Fallon finally entered the room.
“Luna!” She exclaimed as she brought out a flashlight, shining it in my eyes, and I winced from the light. “How are you feeling?”
“Like I got hit by a truck,” my voice came out hoarse and dry.
Kayden grabbed some water, handing it to me as Fallon hit a button, making the bed sit up. I took a sip and then another, feeling the liquid wet my throat and savoring the cold feeling on my sore vocal cords.
"Actually, it was a tree," She muttered as she took my pulse.
“Where is he?” I looked around at them.
It was the obvious question. I didn’t care about myself or the pain I was in, I wanted to know where my mate was.
“The alpha is stable, but he’s still asleep,” Fallon told me, not meeting my eyes.
“I need to see him,” I set the cup down, trying to get out of bed, but they all came clamoring forward, forcing me to stay where I was.
“That’s not happening, and you know it. You need to rest, you got knocked around pretty good,” she ordered me.
I wanted to argue, but I didn’t think I’d be able to get out of bed on my own. “How’s your pain?” She interrogated me. He tone a barking order as if to say don’t try to argue with me.
I huffed and accepted defeat. He was alive, that’s all that mattered.
I had to stay in bed for far longer than I wanted to. It was days before they let me up, and even then, they forced me to stay in my room. I needed to see him, I was going crazy. After five days, I had had enough, and I ripped my IV out.
“I don’t give a damn!” I growled the blood trickling down my arm.
“Allie!” Zach yelled as he chased after me.
“I need to see him!” I ran into the clinic, looking at the rooms. I spotted Jeremy and Blue outside a large glass door and ran over.
“Green,” I called as the door automatically slid open.
My heart steadied as I saw him lying there. He looked fine. As if he were just taking a nap. Not a scratch on him. Sort of. I walked up to his bedside, silver streaks down his side where Denver had gouged him with his claws. Another where the silver knife had been jammed into him.
“I don’t get it. He’s all healed, why isn’t he awake?” I looked over at the two wolves who stood vigil.
“He had a lot of silver in his system. He’s having a hard time connecting to his wolf. If his wolf is sleeping, so is he,” Blue elaborated for me.
I looked down at the tranquil body of my mate. He was alive. I reminded myself, but he wasn’t conscious.
“When will he wake up?” I looked over to see Fallon standing in the doorway.
“He might not,” she declared.
My heart dropped to my feet. This wasn’t happening. He had lived. We had won, we had both lived, and now he was in some wolfy coma?
“No,” I growled. No,no,no,no,no,no,no,no!” I shook him as hard as I could. “No! Come on! You don’t get to leave here alone! You made me a promise! You said you’d live a life with me! Wake up!” I screamed at his still body. “You promised!”
Blue came over trying to get me off my mate, but I held on. “Wake up! You promised me!”
Blue hurled me to the side, ripping Green's hand from mine as I cried for Green to wake up. I couldn’t see him like that, breathing, alive, but not touching me, not talking, not really there.
“It’s alright, it’s alright,” Blue held me tight as I battered his chest.
“No! No! No!” I wailed, beating at him. “He promised!”
He patted my head, and I didn’t care that I was in the middle of the clinic and that people were watching me. Who gives a fuck. Green was in a coma. This was worse than anything I had dreamed up. What if he never woke up?
“He’s going to wake up!” Blue told me. “He will not leave you, you know he’d never do that,”
I tried to believe him, tried to hang on his words, but I felt so defeated. How could this happen after everything we’d survived?
They took me back to my room, and Fallon decided it would be best to sedate me. I didn’t fight, if he was sleeping, I would to. I didn’t want to know he was lying there like that. My whole body rejected the very notion that he was in that state.
I gladly let the drug put me into a forced sleep.
When I woke up, I was much calmer, still furious but less hysterical.
“Hey,” Jess called to me from my bedside.
“Hi,” I muttered back.
“Do you need anything?” She asked, coming over and wiping some hair out of my face.
No. Unless she could make Green wake up, I didn’t need anything from her. “Can you get me something to eat?” I asked her instead.
I just wanted to be alone.
“Of course,” she happily took the bait and walked out of the room, leaving me to my thoughts.
He could still wake up. We just had to give it time. I tried to reason with myself, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that it was a fool's hope. I felt it in my gut that I had to do something, anything to help him.
“Luna,” a sickening voice hit my ear.
I skidded up in my bed at the sight of Cooper Wallace. The religious alpha who revered me enough to jump in front of an arrow for me. His pack was a very devout pack, they had a moon pool on their lands that was said to grant visions to those who swam in it.
“What are you doing here?” I tried to find my call button, but it was over by Jess’s things. She must have been using it to control the TV.
Goddammit Jess! I cursed my sister.
“You do not need to fear me. I would never harm you,” his eyes still held that awe as he watched me.
I didn’t relax despite his reassurance. Green had warned me to stay away from him, and it was Green I trusted most.
“What do you want?” I spat.
“To help,” he came forward, and I leaned away from him as best I could in my bed. “The alpha fought valiantly. He needs my assistance, and I would do anything for you.”
I knew he meant it, too.
“What can you do to help?”
