Ch156 The Game Has Changed
Sasa cocked her head to the other side as she walked deeper into his room, “Would-Be-Man? I've just been calling him the man in white. But no, I erased my mate's memories and woke the power of my wolf blood in him to turn him human once more so he could leave this place. There is no way to reverse what I did, not this time,”
“What do you mean by not this time?”
“I left here once, years ago, by activating the shield of our blood that protects our puppies and turning myself human. My mate found me and watched over me until I was strong enough to mend myself. I do not have the same things I had last time to free my mate when I find him again. Also, the man in white has my puppy. I must get him free before I escape as well or I will be lost,”
“I am sorry, Onisagira. I pray my mate and pups are safe. My daughter is playing with humans and human medicine, she should be fine. It's my youngest son, Leviathan I worry of. He was still a pup when I left him with his mother. I got captured leading the Would-Be-Man away from my den. Dragon wolves pride themselves on their secrets,” Drakon said proudly.
Sasa smiled, “I had wondered if you were a dragon wolf. Lady Eirwen spoke of your pack. I like dragons. Would you like to meet mine?”
“You have a dragon?” Drakon asked as he cocked his head to one side like Sasa had.
Namuh slithered into the room and looked the wolf in the eye before he dipped his head down and looked at the ground. Sasa laid a hand on his head smiling, “His name is Namuh. I made him to help me fight and protect,”
“He smells of poison and blood,”
“He is made of poison and blood. One scratch kills a man, and so does one bite,” Sasa said proudly.
Drakon bowed at Sasa again, “Like lady Eirwen, you are one to fear and respect, lady Onisagira,”
Sasa shook her head, “Don't call me lady. I refused to be queen. Ragnar, my chosen son will rule in my stead when he comes of age. I hope my puppies are doing well in my absence,”
“I thought the Would-Be-Man had your son,”
“He has my child born of my mate and I. Ragnar and Astrid are my adopted puppies. Hati had thrown them at me as food and insult. I chose instead to adopt them. I thought the son the man in white had been long dead and buried. I did not know I was fooled or I would have come for my son sooner. Speaking of the lad, I should find him. I could leave the door open, or do you wish to stay?”
“Are you leaving, Lady Onisagira?” Drakon asked.
“No, and don't call me lady! I still have things to do. There is another bloodsucker here I need to find as well,”
Drakon just smiled at her insistence at not being called lady. “I shall wait for you. If you can, come find me as you leave and I will fight with you,”
Sasa nodded as she turned to leave. “I will, Drakon, son of Wyvern, daughter of Salamander,”
“Good hunting Onisagira, daughter of Sköll, son of Fenrir, child of Luna,”
Sasa paused at that and looked at him. “Child of Luna? How do you mean?”
“It's a story I will tell when we are free. Go on now, my lady,”
Sasa growled with annoyance as she shut the door and locked it again.
Wondering around she wondered where all the humans were, and why she had been left alone. Searching through the doors that blocked her senses she finally found Lykos staked and left on the floor like a used pair a sneakers. She felt bad that in the fuss she almost forgot he was here as well. Removing the stake Sasa used a little more of her clean blood from Namuh to feed him. As he woke, he looked around and smiled when he saw Sasa. His eyes widened in fear as he saw the gigantic blood dragon staring at him.
“Don't be afraid, he is mine. I've called him Namuh,” Sasa announced in her new flat voice.
“Did he grow since last I saw him? You know you're too young to make blood beasts like this,” Lykos scolded as he got up and examined the brute.
Namuh coiled up and held himself proud as he got inspected, flexing his claws, and showing his teeth. “Sköll and Dagrim believe it is my wolf blood that allows me to use my powers in ways I shouldn't know how for hundreds of years. Wolves have genetic memory that allow them to use their wolf abilities as they need them. I like to test my limits, so I can also use my vampire talents the same way. Some I have more trouble with than others. True telekinesis, flight, pyrokinesis like Fenris, disappearing into the shadows, wall climbing, shapeshifting, I either can't or can barely do those,”
“I'd call turning into a wolf at will shapeshifting,”
“I'm still not good at it. I can take my half form but it hurts and takes twice as much energy as this form,” Sasa corrected.
Lykos looked at her, “Twice as much energy? How much energy do you normally spend? The older a vampire gets the slower he metabolizes,”
Sasa shrugged, “Most nights I spend the time with the puppies grazing, then once they're in bed I spend the rest feeding off my mate, or hunting with him. I never get fat, but I'm constantly eating, one form or another,”
“How are you surviving now?” Lykos asked.
“I don't die. I'm so hungry I feel hollow inside. Leave me here and I'll look like a walking corpse. I did last time. However, I've had a little blood. It's solid food I want right now,”
“You're wondering around, are you looking for the pest, or are you escaping?” Lykos asked.
“I already freed Fenris. I'm here to free you and find my son. The man in white set up a decoy, he never died. He was raised here and named Leo,” Sasa announced as she turned to leave.
Lykos followed, “Are you sure you're not being fooled this time?”
“I tasted his blood. He is of Luna; he is of me and of Fenris. There is even a twinge of vampire hidden deep into the blood, almost like the wolf. And wait until you meet him, it freaked me out when we first met. Come, I don't know where he is,” Sasa said as she doubled her effort.
Namuh and Lykos followed behind her as she checked doors. Lykos every once in a while would peek in doors as well. They got past all the doors on the level they started on and started moving down. When the man in white had taken Sasa to the vampire she killed, they had gone down at least five stories. By the time they had finished the second floor Sasa began to weave and trip on her feet. Lykos made to pick her up, but Namuh growled and lifted her onto his head. She curled around one of his head spikes and fell asleep.
“And you can still move while she sleeps?” Lykos asked as he looked at the dragon and glared.
Namuh nodded slowly so not to throw Sasa off. Then he snaked around Lykos and continued their search. The locks were made of wheels that turned to pull long poles out of the walls, so all Namuh had to do was spinning the wheel with a claw and pull.
“I thought Sasa didn't grow her hair like a vampire,” Lykos pointed out as the kept opening doors.
Namuh nodded.
“The how is it that her color is all messed up now? She hadn't noticed her bangs are two toned from where they grew?”
Namuh stopped and looked at Lykos curiously. Dipping his head, he let Sasa slide down to the ground gently. Looking Sasa over he saw her hair had grown back to the length it had been before she played with it. Nosing her over Namuh looked for any other signs that she had changed. Sasa should have thought her actions out better. She sent most of her werewolf blood over to Fenris, then absorbed the blood of an ancient. She looked even more like stone as she slept, and her presence was stronger than it had ever been. She really hoped she could still eat food. Fenris had already pointed out that she had cried blood. Did she have a reflection? Namuh scooped her up and took her into the next room they opened, ignoring the vampire inside. Holding her up to the observation window she saw her reflection, but it was feint. Namuh laid a paw on the glass and pawed at the reflection just to ensure the glass wasn't dirty.
