Magnus Hale Kael
"Enjoy your meal, gentlemen," he says, hurrying away.
"Fuck." I cover my face, dying of embarrassment; Adrian bursts into laughter. "You jerk, you could have warned me he was coming!"
"Love... I swear I didn't see him," he responds, still laughing. "I was so enchanted by your declaration that I forgot the world existed."
"Jesus, how embarrassing." He keeps laughing. "Stop laughing, dammit!"
Adrian kisses my hand tenderly.
"No need to be ashamed. That way everyone will know I am yours and you are mine."
I laugh, shaking my head.
"How cliché."
"Then I’ll be cliché forever. Saying "I love you" isn't sappy; it's just the truth. I love you, Magnus Hale Kael. I will love you until the end of our lives... and beyond them. If reincarnation exists, I want to find you again, in any body, in any time."
I feel my face warm at his words. I smile.
"I hope for that too. That way, we’ll find each other again and walk another path, but with the same love."
I look through the window; the sun reflects off the glass. I turn back to face him, calm.
"I love you. Thank you for teaching me what it means to love, even after everything we went through."
He laughs.
"You ruined the mood, love."
"I picked up your habit of ruining moments."
"You brat. I love you too, my husband."
We laugh. The story started in chaos, but it worked itself out. We don't think about separating, but if he dares to try, I'll kill him.
I want to see the world by his side, to be loved and to love back. Our journey is far from over; I intend to keep it that way. I want to live long enough to grow old by his side and enjoy every second we have left.
We eat slowly, savoring the food and each other's presence.
"I was thinking... how about we go to Switzerland? To ski in the snow. What do you think?"
I look up and nod.
"Good idea. Just don't go rolling down, because if it's up to me, you'll turn into a snowball."
He laughs, shaking his head.
"That only happens in cartoons."
"Are you sure? We can test it. I'll push you, and if you don't turn into a snowball, I promise to believe you."
He laughs, incredulous.
"Seriously? I’m going to risk myself just to clear your doubt, and without a reward?" I give him a crooked smile.
"Oh, but you get the best of rewards."
"Really? And what is it?"
I lean over the table and murmur close to his ear.
"My ass."
He chokes on his food, and a loud laugh escapes me.
"You... Love, you adore teasing me."
"Of course. I love watching you lose control. It’s beautiful."
He sighs, a silly smile dominating his face.
"Only you could make me feel this way. I love it. Why do you always make my heart race with such simple things? I’m far too weak."
I laugh, shaking my head.
"You say that, but so am I. I can't stay mad when you kiss me or hug me. I'm weak for you."
"We are each other's weak spot. Fascinating."
He holds my hand over the table, intertwining our fingers, his gaze locked onto mine.
"Everything makes sense when I'm with you. I never imagined loving someone like this. Magnus... I love you. Nothing in this world will change that. I will remain madly in love. My love for you is sacred, and I hope that when we depart, we can find each other in another life."
I stand up, walk around the table, and hold his face between my hands. I kiss his lips calmly, ignoring the stares around us. I rest my forehead against his.
"Our life is just beginning, Adrian. These five years have been magical, and I want to live all the coming ones by your side. I also hope that when we depart, we can find each other again and keep loving. I just hope that in the next one, you find a less chaotic way to approach me."
He laughs, eyes shining, and kisses my chin.
"You got it. I promise."
I kiss his forehead before returning to my seat, my heart warmed by knowing that, somehow, our love will continue to exist, in any time, in any life.
The rest of the meal follows in a light and comfortable silence. When we finish, he pays the bill. As we leave, I look up at the sky—a serene, beautiful blue.
Adrian grips my hand firmly, and we walk to the car. We get in without a rush. I drive with no destination, just appreciating his presence. I hold his hand, my heart at peace.
Deep down, I know the world could crumble and I would still love him. It’s not a promise spoken before an altar; it’s a pact engraved in flesh, blood, and soul. A love that defies logic, transcends time, and flirts with the eternal.
Life can be cruel, and time, merciless. But if fate dares to separate us, I know he will find me again.
Even if he has to tear through hell to do it.
Because no matter how many times time tries to erase us, or how many lives are needed to rebuild us, we will always find our way back to each other.
Between heaven and hell, between love and madness, we will be there.
Magnus and Adrian.
Forever.
