Chapter 26 Help me, Alpha Damian
CHAPTER 26.
\-LILITH-
I thought that was a dream. I thought the accusations that were labelled against me were all a dream but I was wrong.
Waking up to the cold floor… the dark walls and the only thing that served as light was a tiny window high up the walls.
Only dim lights penetrated.
I'm not a thief. No.. I didn't steal anything.
No one believes me. How can anyone believe me when the jewelry was found in my pocket?
It was found in my possession.. How do I explain that?
I was trained better than to be a thief. My father raised me to be a good daughter and not a criminal.
No matter how poor I am, I can never steal from someone.
I believe I'm being framed right now.. By the maid that lied. It might not be just her.. perhaps there's someone else.. But who?
My body ached so much from the beatings I received and also from laying on the cold floor.
My mind drifted off to Alpha Damian. I wonder when he's returning back to the Pack. I need him.
I'm so scared right now and I need him to be here. If he was here, maybe he would have believed me? .. He probably would have investigated matters thoroughly.
Or maybe I'm wrong.
What if he actually thinks I stole from his mother? What if he falls for the lies and accusations?
Tears welled up in my eyes just thinking about how he could possibly still turn his back against me and have me beheaded.
I'm going to lose my life as a criminal. All my life, I have always wished to die with a good record and not as a criminal.
“Why don't we call Alpha Damian?.. Let him return and save us from this mess” Lena said in my head. She's obviously as frightened as I am right now.
“There's no way I'm doing that, Lena”
“Why? It's simple. Try to mind link him, after all, we have been marked and we can do that”
I hesitated.. Mind-linking Alpha Damian isn't actually a bad idea but I'm just scared. What if he sees me as a thief too?
“There's no harm in trying Lilith. I have full trust in Alpha Damian. He might have treated us unfairly, but deep down I feel he's different and I know you feel that way too. He's the only option we have to getting out of here alive”
I reasoned with Lena and she's damn right.
I searched my mind, thought about him for a while and finally called out to him.
“Alpha Damian?..”
No response.
“Alpha Damian?... Please help”
Still no response and I gave up completely.
He probably had me locked in.. so I can't reach him.
My shoulders slumped in disappointment and I feel this is the end for me.
“I told you Lena.. It's not going to work”
“Then what do we do, Lilith?.. This was our only option”
I sighed weakly.
Just when I was about to give up completely and accept my fate, his voice sounded in my head, loud and clear.
“Lilith?..”
My eyes snapped open.
“Alpha Damian… please help me”
“Are you okay?.. Why do you sound so weak?” He asked, his voice laced with concern.
“Please.. help me. Help me..”
I suddenly feel like my whole body is about to explode.. everything began to spin and I felt very dizzy.
“Lilith?..” He called out to me again.
“Alpha… Damian…”
I collapsed… everywhere went blank and quiet.
\-ALPHA DAMIAN-
I told my guards to move faster.. I had no time to waste.
Not when Lilith sounds like she's on the verge of having her head cut off.
I tried to reach out to Beta Lucien but I could reach out to him through Mind-linking.
I had placed him to watch over the pack while I left with Princess Rivera.
But Lilith's call had placed me on a rough edge. I had to leave the Shadowmoon pack immediately.
I can't waste another minute. For Lilith to have called, it means something is really up.
I wonder what could have gone wrong in the pack house?.. What could she have done?
There were so many thoughts reeling in my head… The more I think about how her voice sounded so weak, the angrier I got.
Who dares lay a finger on her?
“Hurry, Damian” Dovan cried out.
“Step on it” I ordered my guards and they rode faster.
But just then, they stopped suddenly.. in a great force, followed by the sounds of swords.
“What is happening?”
I asked one of my guards.
“We have been ambushed, Alpha Damian” He reported.
My brows creased. Immediately, I stepped out of the carriage. My guards have already positioned themselves, aiming their swords against some masked men who laid out swords as well.
With my arms folded to my back, I took a step forward.
“Who are you and why are you on my path?”
I got no response.
They don't look familiar.. especially with half of their face covered and how strangely they were dressed.
I pulled out my sword too, aiming it directly at the front man.
“One last warning. Go back to wherever you are coming from”
I warned sternly. First, this is not the right time to be ambushed because Lilith is waiting for me and I need to get to the pack as soon as possible.
Second, I'm not very patient when it comes to war.
“Never!”
He flipped his sword so fast that its sharp edge brushed past my skin, leading to a cut.
I stared at my arm… My blood dripped out from it.
No one touches an Alpha king and goes scot free.
And these, he just made a terrible mistake.
“Attack!!”
I waved my sword, clashing it with that of the front man. The one who has led the masked army.
My guards took on the other armies.
It's war..
Our swords clashed together.
I must admit that he's a good swordsman and has combat skills but no one beats an Alpha.
We fought, slashing our swords… who dares fight an Alpha King.
I turned sharply when his sword almost touched me.. And with my skill, I pressed my knife through the side of his tummy.
He retreated, blowing a sudden whistle as if passing a signal.
The other armies retreated, disappearing into the night the same way they came.
“Alpha, should we go after them?”
“There is no need. Take him. He should be useful in providing more information” I gestured at one of the armies who couldn't get away like the rest.
He has been stabbed, making it impossible for him to get away.
“You are bleeding, Alpha Damian”
“Forget it and let's move. We need to get to the pack house as soon as possible. Don't let him die”
I went back and settled in the carriage. I thought about the armies who laid ambush. They are skilled and well trained.
The fact that we were only able to capture one and the others fled.. It means I am their target.
It's not a new thing. Being an Alpha means getting sworn enemies. There's no Alpha without an enemy.
Getting to the Pack house, I made my way to my room. somehow, I felt different.. empty. like I have been placed in a vacuum.
I tried to mind-link Lilith but I caught nothing. It's like she has completely gone blank on me.
I paced around my room, feeling restless.
There was a sudden knock on the door and I ushered whoever it was in because I thought it would be Lilith… I had hoped so.
But when the door creaked open and Nerida walked in, it shattered my hope.
“Welcome back, Alpha Damian” She greeted, walking towards me slowly.
“What are you doing here, Nerida?”
“What else? I've come to serve you…”
“And what about Lilith? Where is she? Why isn't she the one serving me?”
She smirked.. A real proud smirk.
“Lilith… I'm so sorry, Alpha Damian. But she has been sent on an errand”
I frowned.
“What?..”
“Yes, Alpha. The queen sent her on an errand and asked that I take good care of you. You can put your full trust in me, Alpha Damian.. You know I would gladly do anything to just to take good care of you”
“Get out”
She pretended not to have heard me.. Or better still, she ignored.. going back to being flirtatious.
She reached out to take off my robe but I brushed her hands off.
“Get out, Nerida”
“Fine.. I'll leave, Alpha Damian. But I'll be right by the door.. just in case you need me. You know I'm ready to serve you, in any way you wish”
She eyed me seductively, brushed her fingers against my chest and left my room, swaying her hips from left to right.
However, something didn't sit right. Lilith made it sound so urgent.. like she was in danger.. like she needed my help so badly.
And now, Nerida says my mother placed her in an errand?
I ran my fingers through my hair and sighed deeply.
“Where are you, Lilith?”
I asked no one in particular but just myself.
I hope by day break, you would be back from whatever errand my mom has placed you. I need to make sure you are safe.
