Chapter 93 The Unexpected Trainee

Curious about where the sound was, I immediately stood from my chair and snatched the robe I hung on the other chair next to the one I was using. Then slipped it on my body before I cautiously investigate where the noise is originating from.
Did someone get past the electric fence and somehow sneak through the mansion? However, if that were the case, Aya may have come seeking for me and brought me back to my room in the event that the scenario played out as described. Yet, aside from the fighting sounds, there wasn’t any disturbance around the mansion.
I walk around the pool barefooted, padding along the edges, and then I turn toward the cobblestone surface. I only had to walk a few steps before it finally brought me to the mansion’s backside. There was a separate building just near the outskirts of the forestland.
It was like a gym.
A training gym.
Why didn’t I notice it before? Has Aya overlooked this place? Or was this one of the many places where the staff was not allowed to go near?
The nearer I got, the more I recognized whose voice the braking commands belonged to.
It was Val.
The door was slightly opened, and it seemed as though they had a drill.
“Do not give your opponent the satisfaction of seeing you retreat!” Val hollered, his loud voice transcending over the fighting noises.
I sneaked through the foyer and peaked into the gap. I was right. It was a training gym, bigger than it looked on the outside. And on the middle, there was a raised platform where a couple of sparring partners beat each other down.
However, what caught my immediate attention was that it wasn’t all men.
There were women as well. They moved swiftly and didn’t get intimidated that their opponent was men. It was pretty entertaining to watch them, and somehow, I envied them.
If I knew how to fight, I wouldn’t have to depend on Kael and Val or be in need of all the guards flocking around me.
“Looks like we have a spectator for today,” Val's words brought me to my feet, and everyone abruptly stopped what they were doing. I instantly froze on my place. My face suddenly burns, having all their gazes directed at me.
“Um, I’m sorry, I just happened to stumble upon here. I didn’t mean to,” I blinked, stammering with my words, and was about to turn around and thread back the pavement I came from, but suddenly Val called me again.
“Come here, sweet cake. You can watch them from here,” he tilted his head, gesturing me to come inside.
As their gaze settled on me, the hairs on the back of my neck stood on end. Val took my hand and walked me to the side of the room, where he gestured for me to take a seat in one of the mono-block chairs. He gave me a gentle smile and then turned his attention back to them, barking out authoritatively.
“Eyes to your opponent! If boss were here, all of you would have been blind!”
Right after hearing Val, they scrambled back to their feet and continued with their sparring. Never again did any of them look in my direction. The mere mention of Kael’s name brought terror down to them. I would, too, if I were in their shoes.
I sat there and watched them fight, but my attention was particularly drawn to the fights amongst the women. They were utterly undaunted by their opponent even though they appeared bigger than them and looked much stronger. But this one girl caught my eyes. She appeared to be the same age as me and even the same height. In spite of the vast disparities between them, the fire of resolve can be seen blazing in her eyes as she faces a giant man.
She moved gracefully soon as the duel commenced. She utilizes her diminutive stature to her advantage and maneuvers her way out of the giant's hands, evading his assaults before tumbling to the ground. The man muttered an expletive in exasperation before pivoting and reaching out with one arm to sweep her away, but she was quick to her feet and leaped into the air, where she found her momentum and flipped. She twists her body and swings her legs, delivering a powerful blow to her opponent's jaw with the combination.
The man fell backward, but she wasn't quite finished with him yet. She did not wait for him to regain his footing. She quickly squatted, sweeping her legs into his ankles, tripping him down, and rolled to the ground.
Throughout the entirety of the time that I was observing her, my mouth was hanging open in shock, and I was at a loss for words to adequately convey what I had just seen.
She was very incredible.
“Well done, Sasha,” Val nodded to her with acknowledgment, and I could tell by the look in her eyes that she was genuinely pleased with the recognition that he had given her.
Sasha. So that was her name. It was beautiful, a crown fit for a princess. She portrays herself as a powerful woman who is ready to take on anyone who stands in her way.
How I wish I could be as strong as her.
While I was seated, I kept an eye on Sasha as she moved from the platform to the benches below. The instant that her eyes landed on me, it seemed as if my heart had shot all the way to the top of my chest. I gave her a strained smile, not knowing how I would approach such a wonderful woman. However, she only ignored me and shifted her attention back to the platform and watched the others fight.
Disappointment suddenly struck me, and a bit embarrassed for myself. She was probably thinking how feeble I am. A naïve woman who knows nothing but to open her legs for Kael. A mere decoration meant nothing but adornment, and I just came to realize that I was only wearing a damn robe. Justifying the very thought of it.
My chest stung at the thought, but I refused my emotions to get the best of me. Val came closer to me. His mouth set to a thin line and his brows draw into a tight knot.
Just then, a stupid idea came to my mind, and I immediately jumped on my seat. I met him halfway and strained my neck to his height.
“Val, can you train me to fight?”
