CHAPTER THIRTY— SIX
CHAPTER THIRTY— SIX
I knew it.
This man— a chameleon in an expensive suit, had something up his sleeves.
Just look at how he deceived me, playing me like a guitar.
See what my goodness brought me.
He made me feel so sorry for him and how did he repay me?
this…
“Let go of me now or else!”, I gagged curses.
Kicking and reaching out to grab anything or anyone that would touch my fingers.
“Just fucking stay still and enjoy the ride, don’t make things hard for us or I’ll have to do the same for you too”, one of the men snarled.
The men sat chatting noisily within themselves as we rode, empty loud drums they are.
In a short while, one of them returned to me.
“We should have done the blindfolds since, but better late than never”, I stared at him with scorn until the cloth blocked the light, ending my vision temporarily.
“And here we are, your ride on my exclusive van has come to an end, unfortunately,” another man groaned.
“And fortunately”, another man chimed in, “you were opportune to ride in my expensive, exquisite, extraordinary van, not everyone is this lucky”, he praised himself, a hint of drama in his tone.
“She’ll come running back once she sees our boss, she’d prefer the ride here over his old wicked voice.
Oh!, spade was too generous and give her an apple, but the nigga couldn’t let her eat it”, the first man answered back and they burst into an irritating grumpy laughter.
“I was only calling a spade a spade”, the alleged spade joined in sarcastically.
And they continued their sequence of laughter.
“I am too generous indeed, you know that you can’t eat your cake and take it right… and… and… have it?, no…
You can’t eat an apple because it’s meant for the pie”, he added insanely.
Madness.
The van halted to a stop, I could hear the vehicle breathing from exhaustion.
How many miles have we covered already?
How long have we been on the road in darkness?
I felt a rough cold hand on my shoulder, “I’m sorry I have to let you go my darling”, one of the men apologized, with a mixture of pain and visible mockery.
The man burst out with joyful laughter at his humor as he removed my blindfold and the apple from my mouth.
I was the subject— the laughing stock.
But not for long, I promise, I’ll look for a way.
How bad I want to insult and curse them now, but my mouth hurt badly from all the stretching.
I was too engrossed in adjusted my chin, massaging it gently with my hands that I do not realize the environment I was in.
They slid open the door allowing the light seep in notoriously, I blinked, squinting my eyes to adjust to the sudden brightness.
It was morning already?
Where was I?
For a moment, I forgot I was kidnapped, I didn’t even feel like I was.
“Wow”, I exclaimed— my first word since last night.
The magnificent mansion before us stretched high in the sky and was robust like a castle.
But.
I wasn’t free, my hands were tied, and the silly laughter of these grumpy men— I mean they look too old to sound so foolish and laugh at every sentence or bird that passes like high school boys.
What do I expect?
Drunkards.
I wasn’t a visitor, I was a prisoner in this new world.
The whole thing happened so fast that I couldn’t even place the sequence.
It could be a dream after all, but no-this pain on my wrist was real, intense, and I was hurting so bad.
A man approached us hurriedly, “boss is waiting”, he announced, leaving immediately like a passerby.
Inside the mansion was a new heaven.
Screaming wealth and luxury.
Holy, holy, molly, Macaroni.
I was forced to sit on the floor regardless of the exquisite furnishing.
A gentle reminder that I wasn’t a visitor but a prisoner in this mansion.
A familiar short figure hurried into the room, his protruding stomach making him look like a hamburger on square pants.
Potato, potahtoo
“Mr. Baron Slade”, I hissed with scorn as my eyes darkened.
He was Lillian’s father.
I had thought it was Mr. Gold’s kidnap.
No… I still won’t trust anyone, he might have a hand in this.
My anger boiled and my heart hardened.
How dare he?
Now I see why there was no fear in covering up the tracks for kidnapping me, the source had power and affluence.
“So it’s you”, he began with a grumpy old voice immediately he sighted me, his face twisting in a scowl.
I stared back at him with scorn, eager to hear the reason for this whole drama.
“This little plaything has been causing me too much trouble, Why do you want the wrath of a good man like me?”, he growled.
I chuckled, “Good man?
Trouble?
You kidnapped me, that’s dirty, that’s trouble, so what’s next? What do you want? ”, I Thundered, slow with poison.
Mr Baron Slade’s face darkened, he took a slow step towards me, looking down on me as I knelt on the ground tied up.
The men behind me shook me aggressively and I shut up immediately.
“Maintain”, one of the men thundered.
“You know I could end you with a blink, it’s nothing new, but that’s not my case, it’s not my problem if you live or die”, he yelled.
“So you and your little lover want to fool the old man right?”, he questioned.
“You looked at me, my daughter, regardless of our position and all, you both have no fear, you think you can do whatever you please?”
I laughed loudly in Mockery.
What did Ethan do this time?
“Oouuu… I’m shaking in my sandals”, I paused to breath as I was intoxicated with laughter.
“As a man of your age, don’t you think it’s time to let your darling daughter do the runnings and you rest and enjoy your old age?
You should be sixty or more, why kill yourself, chasing after fresh hot blood generation.
Aren’t you scared of high blood pressure?
I need to clear my long pile of debt and pay bills, that’s my reason for working, debts on top of debts.
What’s yours?
Why do you still be the jack of all trades?
I questioned.
I was beginning to feel remorseful.
Old men doing dirty work.
He has a company, has a good daughter then why is he still suffering with guns like a pauper.
“I came here in one piece, you can’t make me leave in pieces you little gamer.
You have not only stolen from me but insulted me too.
I’ll be back, and then I won’t waste my time on you and your sermons.
I hope we don’t meet again.
That’s only if you co operate with these handsome youths”, he advised as he exited the room, some of the men following after him.
The tough skin I had on since I came inside this mansion shredded like a worn rag of cabbage.
Stolen?
My heart racing with thought aloud in my head.
Was this about the storage device?
Could it be that?…
No…
What could be the content that he wants so badly?
I haven’t heard from Ethan all this while how much trouble have I caused him now?
“Let’s get the US a room”.
One of Mr Baron’s men grabbed my arm, leading me outside the mansion.
“Where are you taking me now, let go of me, you are hurting me”, I yelled, trying hard to yank off my arm from his tight grip.
