Slutty Dom wife 8

"Where are you, Faye?" Kai's voice was sharp with tension, but his attempt to keep it cool failed to hide the possessiveness creeping in.

He stood near the floor-to-ceiling window of his estate office, phone in one hand, jaw clenched. The morning sun bounced off his watch, but the only thing glinting brighter was the fury in his eyes.

He had been tracking her.

Of course, he hadn’t said that aloud, but he had dispatched two of his men to shadow her after she left his house. Not out of mistrust, he told himself. Just caution. Just protection.

But when they reported back that she had not returned to her apartment, had stayed the night at the Zhu estate..with Henry…Kai's carefully maintained composure began to fracture.

He hadn't slept a wink. All he could see was Faye, tangled in sheets that weren't his, those soft moans that belonged only to him ripped from her throat by another man. It made his vision go red.

"At the hospital," Faye answered flatly on the other end.

Kai paced. "You didn't come back last night."

"I was tired," she said.

Tired. That was the excuse? She sounded distant, off, like she was nursing a secret. His instincts screamed.

"I'm coming to see you," he said.

Faye's breath caught.

"No, no you can't come. I have a meeting with my father and his board today. It won't be over until late evening."

It was a weak lie. Not outright false…she did have that meeting. But the tremble in her voice, the pause before the words... they betrayed her.

"Then I'm picking you up after. I'm not taking no for an answer."

A beat of silence. Then a resigned, "Okay."

"Just okay?" he asked, narrowing his eyes.

Faye's sigh was tired. Too tired.

"What is it you want, Kai?"

"Why are you being so cold to me? You don't usually call me by my name."

"I call you Parsons, but I'm not in the mood today."

That landed like a slap.

He was silent. Not because he had nothing to say…but because there were too many things he wanted to say. None of them safe.

After she hung up, Kai tossed his phone onto the couch and ran a hand down his face. His mind wouldn't settle. He had to know. He had to see her face.

At the hospital, Faye stood by the window of the fifth-floor hallway, pressing her forehead against the cool glass. Her eyes burned from lack of sleep, and her body still ached from the night before.

Her scrub top felt like it stuck to her skin. It wasn’t guilt, not exactly…but something close.

She'd told herself it meant nothing. That last night had been about closure. About controlling the situation. But as Henry's marks throbbed beneath her clothes and the scent of him still clung to her skin, she couldn’t lie to herself.

She didn’t know what it meant.

What scared her more was how Kai would react if he ever found out.

Her fingers trembled as she flipped her phone upside down, turning off the screen. She didn’t want to see his messages right now.

She didn’t want to hear his voice.

But she did.

God, she did.

Kai sat alone in the back of his black Maybach later that evening, watching the hospital building come into view.

He was dressed in a charcoal grey suit, no tie, his shirt open just enough to reveal the tattooed edge of his collarbone. His eyes were unreadable as his driver pulled into the private parking area.

He wasn’t going to ask.

He was going to look into her eyes, kiss her mouth, pull her into his car, and if she flinched…even once…he’d know.

The security guards at the hospital knew him. No one questioned him when he walked in. No one dared.

He took the elevator to the fifth floor and found her at the nurse’s station. She turned at the sound of his footsteps, and the second their eyes met, time stilled.

She looked pale. Tired. A faint mark peeked out from under her collarbone.

His breath caught.

He walked right up to her.

"You didn’t look like you were in a meeting," he said quietly.

Faye squared her shoulders. "I was busy."

He looked down at her blouse. His fingers itched to rip it open.

"What happened to your neck?"

She swallowed. "A scratch."

"Looks like a bite."

She stepped back.

He stepped forward.

"Kai…"

"No. You don’t get to say my name like that when you’re lying to me."

"I didn’t lie."

He gripped her wrist gently, staring into her eyes. Searching. Digging.

She looked away.

He pulled her into the on-call room, shutting the door behind them.

"Take off your blouse."

"Excuse me?"

"Take. It. Off."

She stared at him in disbelief.

"Why? So you can inspect me like property?"

"So I can see what he did to you."

Her heart stuttered.

"So you admit it," he said coldly.

"I didn’t say anything."

"You didn’t have to."

The silence between them was deafening. The tension, suffocating.

Finally, he stepped back, raking a hand through his hair.

"I don't own you, Faye. But fuck, do I want to."

Her chest rose and fell rapidly.

"You don’t get to be jealous. We weren’t exclusive."

"I never touched anyone else since you came back."

That shut her up.

"Not once. Not even when you pushed me away. Because in my fucked-up way, I was already yours. And you... you let him touch you."

Tears welled in her eyes. "Stop. Please."

He closed the space between them again, but this time, his voice was softer.

"Tell me you regret it. Tell me he didn’t make you feel anything."

She was silent.

"Do you still want me, Faye? Or am I just your dirty little secret again?"

Her lips trembled.

Then her phone rang.

She turned her back to him and picked it up.

"Hello?"

"Faye?" Henry’s voice.

Her spine stiffened.

"Grandma’s asking for you. She wants to see you. She’s been awake and smiling all afternoon, but she won’t stop asking about you."

Faye closed her eyes. The old woman was like family.

"Okay. I’ll come."

She hung up and turned back to Kai.

"I have to go."

"To him."

"To his grandmother."

Kai studied her for a long moment. He didn’t say a word.

Then he called for his driver and told him to take her.

But as he watched her walk away, something gnawed at him. A deep, instinctual unease.

Something about this didn’t feel right.

Something was coming.

And he would be ready for it.
