Chapter 312

Chapter 312
Book #02:Chapter 312

"I wonder if Giacomo knows any cool Italian names. He has been visiting you a lot recently. Are you two going out or something?"

"It's complicated. I'm an immortal and he's an immortal. His true love lived and died along time ago while my true love didn't turn out right. So we both agreed that we would marry in the future at some point in time so we wouldn't be alone."

"That's not very romantic."

"It's practical and with a baby on the way I can't think of myself."

"Sounds to me like you have condemn yourself for getting pregnant. Single yummy mommy's deserve love too."

"I don't think me and Aidan can work this out. Plus who would want to raise a baby in a forest! Giacomo has a massive house in Italy and a house here."

"Are you planning to marry him?"

"He asked me. He wants to take care of me and the baby."

"That's not a basis to get married on Stephanie!"

"Don't judge me Kala. I'm not stupid, you have Jac and I've got nobody."

"I'm not judging, I just don't want you to get married because you feel it is the last resort. Aidan probably loves you still. Wouldn't you prefer real happiness to something hollow?"

"I'm not looking for happiness. I want stability."

"This is your life Stephanie, I wish I could use my gift of foresight to advise you but this is a choice you have to make yourself."

"I know and this time I won't put myself first."

Kala and I changed subjects and talked about other things. I think what I had said to Kala had shocked her a little. I was willing to forsake true love for the sake of practicality- I don't know why I say true love, I didn't even know if Aidan was my true love. Either way Kala said she didn't feel well and left early. Leaving me by myself. At least I had the baby book, I started making a list of names I liked.

There was a knock at my door and Sophie entered.

"Help, I'm avoiding Casper." She whispered.

"Come in and lay low with me. I'm looking at baby names." I said.

Sophie came in and sat at the table.

"Casper and I are arguing all the time at the moment about the upcoming fight with that bitch Gwendolyn."

"Who is Gwendolyn? All this stuff is happening around me and I have no idea what it is all about."

"Gwendolyn is a demon who killed a few people including my mother to ensure her demonic off spring will destroy all humanity blah, blah, blah. Oh and she is raising an army in Hell to come and kill me and Skyler and pretty much everybody else on the planet. She's not very nice but we have not heard much from her lately. I think she is heavily pregnant and is hiding."

"What a saga."

"I know- what's wrong with living a nice quiet life."

"A life without vampires, werewolves and demons. Just imagine- no offense."

"I feel like that all the time, especially when Casper starts to get on my nerves. He's supposed to be the King but I'm the one running the kingdom. He just sits in bed all day being useless."

"Do you have any powers like Kala?" I asked, changing the topic.

"I'm a copycat. I can copy vampire powers and make them my own. So as vampires go I'm very strong. Strong enough that I can kill a demon."

"Have you killed a demon?"

"Once, a while ago."

There was a sudden knock at the door and a soldier peered in.

"Excuse me," he said, "The King is looking for your majesty."

"I know." Sophie rolled her eyes.

"You have been found." I said.

"I better find another hiding place."

"It's a beautiful evening you should go for a walk in the gardens. It is very beautiful." Sophie said as she got up and left.

I thought about it and decided I would go for a little wander. Leaving my room I went down the stairs where I was stop by a young soldier and asked if I had seen Kala. I said she had visited me but had left because she did not feel well. The soldier went off and continued his search.

As I was passing through a dark hall I caught something out the corner of my eye. In the dark I could see someone balled up and sat in the darkest part of the hallway on the floor. I walked over to it slowly. It looked like Kala,

"Kala?" I whispered her name and her head jerked up terrifying the crap out of me.

"Jesus!" I cursed loudly clutching my heart. I was about to laugh it off but then I noticed that something was wrong with Kala. Something was really wrong with Kala.

Immediately I screamed for help and the guards came thundering up the corridor. Crouching next to Kala I wiped the away the blood covering her face with the back of my sleeve.

"What happened Kala?" I asked trying to look for any cuts or wounds where she bleeding from. Kala did not speak. She sat very still trembling. Then I saw it, a tiny drop of blood that seeped out of pore and trickled down her face. Kala was not injured. She was sweating blood.

"Kala..." I said helplessly.

The guards arrived and sent for the doctor. I stayed with Kala holding her hand telling her it was going to be okay even though I had no idea that things would be fine. I don't think anything said really sunk in. Kala just sat there trembling. Impatiently I yelled to the soldiers to hurry up with the doctor. Then suddenly Kala's eyes flickered up at me and she said;

"The end will start with blood."

I was about to ask her more but Jac burst in pushing past the guards straight to Kala's side. He scooped her up like a ragdoll and ran to the doctor who had just arrived at the scene. Soon they were running down the corridor whisking Kala out view. I sat alone in the darkened corridor covered in blood.

What the hell had happened?

What did Kala mean, 'The end will start in blood'?

I pulled out my phone and texted Skyler. Whatever the hell Kala was on about probably had something to do with Skyler. I hit send and hoped Skyler would get this message. Out of the darkness I could hear my name being called. It was Jac, a really-really angry Jac. I pulled myself up as he came thundering towards me screaming-

"What did you do to her?"

"Nothing, I found her like this!" I said.

But Jac didn't believe me, something was wrong with him. He looked unhinged. Nervously I took a couple of steps back but Jac lunged at me. His body moved forward and mine was pulled back. Rayne had appeared, he pulled me back and with one hand he pushed Jac across the room with such power Jac smashed through a wooden sideboard placed along the wall. Vampires are strong but demons are way stronger.

"Are you okay?" Rayne asked.

I nodded my head even though I didn't feel okay. I felt shit scared. Rayne gently took my arm and said,

"I'll take you back to your room in a moment. I need to sort him out first." Rayne said looking at Jac who was staggering up.

"So you're the demon." Jac said dusting himself off.

Rayne moved with such speed I did not even see a blur. All I saw was Jac brushing himself off, then Jac in a headlock. Rayne spoke slowly and softly;

"Skyler is very fond of Stephanie which makes her very important to me. If you and your wife weren't so important I would have probably killed you both by now for abducting and attacking Stephanie-"

"Wait," I called out interrupting Rayne. "It's not his fault. Something is wrong with Kala." I said.

Rayne loosened his grip on Jac, "That's why I am here. Skyler showed me the text."

"If you two have done something to hurt Kala, then I swear you will pay." Jac yelled out.

Rayne irritably threw Jac to the ground,

"Stephanie and I did not do that. I'm god damn demon! I have better shit to do then torment your wife."

Jac didn't believe us, "I'll find out who did this and I'll tear them to pieces." He yelled getting up and stomping off.

Rayne made and irritated sound and remarked, "Ignore him, stupid old windbag."

"Do you think it would be safe for me to stay here?" I asked nervously.

"With the fight looming I'd say yes. There is an army soldiers here to protect you."

"I'm not worried about Gwendolyn- I'm worried about Jac."

"He won't hurt you. I've made it clear that if he hurts you he is jeopardizing Kala. He loves Kala too much to put her at risk." Rayne said.

I smiled and tried to be brave and let Rayne walk me back to my room. He left me and disappeared back home. I sat patiently in my room wondering what on earth had terrified Kala so much that she would sweat blood.
