Chapter 107 - Epilogue

Chapter 107 - Epilogue
Six months later, the golden gold of autumn had painted the valley in warm, bright, and clear tones.

The packhouse had been entirely rebuilt, its grand oak doors standing wide open to let in the crisp afternoon breeze. The shattered windows had been replaced with clean glass that reflected the bright blue sky, and the scent of burning pine from the fireplaces carried no trace of fear anymore—only the comforting warmth of home.

Aelin stood on the grand wooden balcony overlooking the training grounds, a soft smile resting on her lips. Below, the pack was alive with laughter and movement. Cain, Sage, Nova, and Lotte were sprinting through the fallen orange leaves, their joyous giggles drifting up through the air.

Soft, familiar footsteps padded out onto the balcony behind her. Aelin didn't need to turn to know who it was; the golden warmth deep in her chest told her everything she needed to know.

Arsen came to stand beside her, his tall frame casting a long, protective shadow over the dark wood. The hard lines of his face had softened over the months, the rigid, armored composure he used to wear completely dissolved. He wore his hair loose, a comfortable dark shirt rolled up at the sleeves, revealing the fading scars of a war they had won.

He didn't look at the grounds below. He looked at her sidelong, his blue eyes burning with a quiet, raw honesty that still made her heart skip a beat.

“You’re thinking again,” he said softly, his voice a low, warm melody.

“Just remembering,” she replied honestly, turning fully toward him. She reached out, her fingers tracing the clean line of his jaw, stopping where his skin met the collar of his shirt. “It’s so quiet now, Arsen. I used to think the quiet was just a waiting period before the next storm. Now… I think it’s just peace.”

Arsen’s hand came up, covering hers, his thumb brushing over her knuckles with a tenderness that made her chest ache with happiness. He leaned down, pressing his forehead against hers, their breaths mingling in the cool autumn air.

“It is peace, Aelin,” he murmured, his voice thick with emotion. “Because of you. You tore down the walls I built around my heart, and you stayed through the dark.”

“I’ll always stay,” she whispered against his skin, her eyes closing as the golden thread of their bond hummed with absolute resilience, whole and unbreakable.

Below them, the children’s laughter rang out again as Forrest joined them in the courtyard, a rare, genuine smile breaking through his usual stoic mask as he handed Lotte a carved wooden toy.

Arsen pulled Aelin closer, his arms wrapping around her waist, holding her as if she were the most precious thing in the world. They stood together under the silver glow of the rising afternoon moon, wrapped in each other's presence, drawing strength from a love that had survived the cruelest trials fate could conjure.

The road behind them had been paved in shadows and agony, but the path ahead was bright, clear, and entirely theirs.

They had faced the darkness, refused to let go, and finally, they had found their happily ever after.
