Indianna sat on the bed with her knees pulled up to her chest. She was glaring at Greyson who was seated at the end, talking on his phone. He hung up after a few minutes and looked at Indianna. "You're shaking," he frowned. "Are you cold?" "I'm fine," she muttered, but Greyson stood up and shrugged his jacket off. He walked over to Indianna, but she flinched away from him. "I'm fine." Greyson ignored her and draped his jacket round Indianna's shoulders and then sat back down. "You don't seem so full of questions anymore, sugar." "I want to go home, Greyson." "You can't until the first stage of the process is complete." "What is this p-process?" She asked quietly and pulled Greyson's jacket tighter around her. "It's the process preparing you for your first shift," he said and Indianna's eyes widened. "W-What?" "You aren't human, Indie." "No," Indianna shook her head. "No!" "Your father was an Alpha of a very powerful pack, you inherited the werewolf gene from him. Females rarely inherit the werewolf gene, for some reason most female's bodies can't handle the pressure of shifting. It's rare when a female is a werewolf, but you're one of those rare females, sugar." "My dad?" She whispered. "What's an Alpha?" "Werewolves live in packs, they are werewolf communities and there are hundreds of packs around the world. An Alpha is the leader of the pack and the Luna is the Alpha's mate. Your mother was a Luna." "Is she a..." "No, she's human." "What are y-you?" Indianna asked. "I am the Alpha of one of the most powerful packs in the world, and you are my Luna." "No," she whispered and squeezed her eyes shut. "Mates are bound together by destiny. There's no fighting the bond and no way to prevent it. We have a bond so deep that not even death can break it. It's weak currently, but over time it grows and the connection formed is stronger than anything in the world. We aren't complete without each other." "I'm fine how I am, I don't need you," Indianna mumbled. "Right now you are," he shrugged. "You won't be soon." Indianna squeezed her eyes shut and took a deep breath. She was sitting next to a werewolf. A wolf. Just like the one that killed her father. "I am not like him!" Greyson snapped, scaring Indianna with his harshness. "Don't you dare compare me to that mutt!" "Have you killed?" Indianna whimpered, hugging her knees to her chest. Greyson looked at Indianna with a blank expression. She knew the answer. "Did you care?" Greyson remained silent and Indianna gasped. "You're a monster." "No," Greyson said sternly. "I'm not, sugar." "You've killed people!" "They deserved it," he said with no emotion in his voice. "How can you be so heartless," she whispered. "We live in a cruel world, Indie. It's kill or be killed. I kill to protect what I care about." "Greyson, leave me alone," Indianna muttered. "Indi-" "Greyson!" She snapped and took a deep breath. "P-please!" "Are you scared of me, sugar?" "Leave." "You didn't answer my question." "You're in my head," she whispered. "You know the freaking answer." "I'm not going to hurt you-" "You've killed people!" She exclaimed. "How am I meant to believe that!" "Because you trust me." "I don't," she grumbled. "You do," Greyson said and stood up from the bed. "You can't help it. It's the bond." "Get out. Just please fucking get out!" * Two hours later and Indianna had only moved from the bed twice. The first time she tried to escape. Her attempts were fruitless. It was though this room had been made to keep someone. The second time Indianna got up from the bed was too pee. When she walked back into the room there was a book on the bed with a note attached. Indianna frowned, but picked it up and scrawled in curly handwriting was her name. Indianna, I can't imagine what emotions must be flooding through you right now. This book helped me to understand more when I was told about the werewolf world. Hopefully it can be as much help for you as it was for me. I'm always here if you need someone to talk to. If you choose to read the book then I'm glad, but if you don't, then please just read this last sentence and don't forget it: They aren't monsters. Greyson cares. -Brooke x Indianna scowled and crumpled the note in her hand and threw it to the floor. She sat back on the bed and pulled her knees up to her chest. She didn't need a book to help her understand the werewolf world. She knew what she needed to know. She knew she was going to be gone as soon as possible. * Despite the stereotype, werewolves do not run around killing humans and howling at the moon. For the most part, they are peaceful creatures, surviving and packs and keeping the peace. The pack system has been around for thousands of years, helping werewolves to evolve and expand. Packs range in size, but they all follow a hierarchy of command; with the Alpha at the top. Alpha- The Leader. The title is earned by birth. Once they come of age at 18, they can choose to take over from their father or wait until the current Alpha steps down and allows his son to take control. Their sole purpose is to protect the pack. Nothing happens within the pack without the Alpha's say. Without an Alpha, the pack would fall. Beta-The Second in Command. The Beta is the second highest ranking wolf in the pack, under the Alpha. The next Beta in line comes to power when the Alpha takes over from his father. The title is given by birth, like an Alpha. When the Alpha needs assistance, the Beta is there. Without a Beta, the pack would fall. Delta- The Third in Command. Unlike Alpha and Beta, the Delta's rank is achieved, chosen by the future Alpha and Beta to work alongside them. Delta's work closely alongside Luna's, dealing with the internal pack issues, helping pack members in need. Without a Delta, the pack would fall. Warrior- The pack's fighter. Their sole purpose is to help the Alpha protect the pack from enemy threats. They are in charge of training and defense of the pack. This role is neither ascribed or achieved, this role is chosen by a single mark on the arm. A Warrior is a pack member chosen by the Moon Goddess to protect the pack. Luna- The Luna is the highest ranking female in the pack. She is the Alpha's mate. The Luna is the bridge between the pack members and the Alpha. Along with the Delta, she helps with the internal running of the pack. She provides help and support to those who need it. As the only female with power, the pack would fall without her. Without this hierarchy of order, the peaceful hidden world of werewolves would not be as it is today. Mates provide harmony between werewolves. Each pair of mates are bound by bonds interconnected in the fabric of the Earth and chosen by the powers of the Moon Goddess. No mating pair is wrong. A mate is a person with whom you have an immediate connection the moment you meet -- a connection so strong that you are drawn to them in a way you have never experienced before. As this connection develops over time, you experience a love so deep, strong and complex, that you begin to doubt that you have ever truly loved anyone prior. Your soulmate understands and connects with you in every way and on every level, which brings a sense of peace, calmness and happiness when you are around them. And when you are not around them, you are all that much more aware of the harshness of life, and how bonding with another person in this way is the most significant and satisfying thing you will experience in your lifetime. You are also all that much aware of the beauty in life, because you have been given a great gift and will always be thankful. "I didn't think you'd read it." Indianna jumped in fright and dropped the book; her head snapping up in the process. "Greyson," she gasped. "I didn't mean to scare you," he shrugged and walked over to the bed Indianna was sitting on. "Where did you read to?" His eyes flickered to the open book and he smirked when 'Mates.' "You can't fight us, sugar." Indianna looked down at her hands and chewed on the inside of her lip. 'A mate is a person with whom you have an immediate connection the moment you meet.' Did she have an immediate connect with Greyson? She took a deep breath and looked up at him. There was something different there when she first met him, but she couldn't bring herself to say the word. "Mates," Greyson said. "Say it, Indie." *Say it.* "No," she muttered. "You know you want too." Greyson was next to her in an instant and his fingers were under her chin, tilting her head back. "You want to just give in and accept the situation you're in. It would be a lot easier, but of course you are too fucking stubborn so you won't." Indianna gulped and placed her hand on Greyson's cheek, gently pulling him closer to her. She looked into his eyes and with her other hand she gripped tightly to the leather bound book on the bed. "Indianna," Greyson said and chuckled. "I'm not stupid." As soon as Indianna picked the book up to swing it at Greyson, the book was ripped out of her grasp and her arm was twisted up painfully behind her back. "I'm in your fucking head, sugar. I know what you are going to do before you do." "Greyson!" She gasped and gritted her teeth. "You're hurting me! Get off!" "You need to stop fighting it," he growled into her ear and shoved her up against the wall. "I won't," Indianna snapped. "And you will slip up one day and when you do, I'll be gone." "No, you won't," Greyson said and narrowed his eyes. "I'll make sure of that, sugar." "What are-" Indianna froze when there was a sharp pain on her collar bone and she gasped, digging her nails into Greyson's shoulders in pain. "Greyson!" She yelled and groaned in pain. "Get off!" Greyson covered Indianna's mouth with his hand just as she screamed in pain. "It had to be done," Greyson muttered, pulling away from Indianna as her vision started to go dark around the edges. "What did you..." Indianna trailed off and stumbled, but Greyson caught her and led her back over to the bed. "Greyson," she slurred. "I marked you." Indianna slumped down on the bed and she looked at Greyson's hands that were on her arm. As she drifted into unconsciousness she felt one thing. Pleasure. *
