Lucinda
“What in the holy gods is he doing?” Lucinda blurted in shock, watching as Alfos removed his clothing with regal expertise.
With each strip of skin he revealed, Lucinda’s mouth watered. She could feel the crazy beating of her heart at that moment.
She wondered if the male had any magical charm embedded in him because from the moment she slept in his arms, Lucinda began to feel this powerful, undiluted attraction for the male.
He was the most handsome and mean man she had ever seen. While growing up, Lucinda hated stories about the boogieman her father used to tell her. But now, she couldn’t help falling for the boogieman before her.
Because Alfos was scary.
Yeah, Isolde warned her to stay away from him, but Lucinda couldn’t help it. She was attracted to danger, and she didn’t mind if the danger would rip her apart in two.
Her mind flashed back to those nights they spent wrapped in each other’s arms. It was everything Lucinda had always imagined sleeping in a male’s arms would be and more.
Well, that was one thing she would never let her sister know. Whatever she felt for Alfos would be her little secret.
The one she blurted out the last time nearly got her into trouble. Now, she wouldn’t dare let Isolde know the thoughts she was having about Alfos.
Lucinda salivated, a longing look in her gaze as Alfos removed the entirety of his upper clothing, leaving him in just his breeches.
“Oh…no…” Lucinda gushed, her eyes ghosting over Alfos’s body.
He had a few scars marring his skin, but the way the scars blended so exquisitely with the muscles and veins that defined his broad chest, arms, torso, and back was unique.
Lucinda couldn’t help herself; hence, she raised her hand, edging it closer to Alfos’s body.
Her hand was just a hairsbreadth away from landing on his hard, expertly carved chest when a male’s voice boomed, making her jerk back to reality.
“Beta Alfos, what a pleasant surprise,”
Lucinda drew back, shutting her eyes and groaning at the back of her throat in frustration. When she manageably opened her eyes, she saw the hunk of a male standing a few meters away from Alfos.
“Titanus,” Alfos’s voice was gruff. Guttural, it raked the core of Lucinda’s body.
She panted, her body tingling as she stared between Alfos and the male, Titanus.
“The one true champion Abbator will ever know,” Titanus said, acknowledging Alfos.
Champion? Was he truly a gladiator? Lucinda thought to herself, gazing at Alfos.
If there was any doubt whether Alfos was once a gladiator, the scars on his body were enough proof.
Why did he choose to become a gladiator? What made him stop?
“I don’t deserve the honor,” Alfos said, huffing.
“Nah, you’re the god of the pit,” Titanus still cheered, dripping with respect for Alfos. “What brought you here?” He asked with his gravelly voice.
Alfos had gone over to the weapon stand, grabbing a wooden spear. He twirled it around as he stared intently at Lucinda while responding to Titanus.
“Just want to show someone who the real gladiator is…”
“Aye, god of the pit,”
At Titanus’s words, Alfos launched an uncalculated attack immediately at Titanus. The huge male dodged right on time, striking out his wooden sword, which Alfos wedged with his spear.
Their swift attacks and moves made Lucinda gasp and clutch at her chest. Her eyes were owl-wide. Worry clogged her heart for Alfos.
The males roared as they fought, striking with precision. The scene drew the attention of other gladiators, and they began to trickle into the training tracks.
Lucinda was surprised to see the hundreds of muscly males watching the two fights.
“Oh, no!!” She yelped, cupping a hand over her mouth when Alfos smacked Titanus on the mouth, and blood spurted from his mouth, sprinkling into the air. “I…can’t watch! I just can’t!” Lucinda blurted to herself, yet her eyes were unwilling to snap away from the scene.
The night sky bore witness to the fight as Alfos kicked Titanus out with his foot. The male groaned, staggering as he held his crotch in his hands.
He burst Into laughter, seeming to love the pain. “Aye, it’s what I fucking like about you, beta. You never miss your kick. Not even on the cock…” He said, hard breaths pumping out of his mouth.
The beta didn’t speak; his dark blue eyes looked past Titanus to Lucinda.
The way she watched him goaded Alfos. His inside was reveling in it. His fucking lycan.
Was it right for him to have a hard-on while fighting?
Damn the sky, Alfos had never witnessed this before. He’d have cursed at it, but hell, he fucking loved it.
With his eyes pinned on Lucinda, he launched another attack on Titanus.
Titanus shifted mid-attack into his lycan form.
“No!” Lucinda’s voice thundered when she saw that.
She had never seen any other lycan up close except her sister Isolde when they were in Brindlemark.
Seeing another lycan now scared her shirtless. She was afraid it’d kill Alfos.
Much to her shock, Alfos swiftly shifted into his lycan form. A huge black lycan. He met Titanus’ lycan midway, and they began their fight, blood gushing and bones cracking.
While watching Alfos’s lycan form, huge, black, and swift, she wondered why it looked nearly like Isolde’s lycan.
“That’s strange…” She mumbled to herself, gasping yet again as Titanus knocked Alfos to his feet.
He toppled the beta, growling into his face, but the beta swept out his tail and wrapped it around Titanus’ hind legs, pulling him down.
The male’s body landed with a thump as he shifted back into his human form, laughing.
“Quite the hit, God of the pit!” Titanus roared just as the rest of the gladiators began to clap for the males.
Titanus took the hand. Alfos reached out for him and patted him on the back, turning to the gladiators and said in a roaring voice.
“I may be the champion of the pit, but…the beta here is the god of the pit. The first-ever gladiator.”
The gladiators clapped harder, cheering Alfos.
“God of the pit!”
“God of the pit!!”
They roared as Titanus raised Alfos’s hand in the air in honor. All the while, Alfos pinned his eyes on Lucinda.
Gods be damned, Lucinda never knew violence could be such a turn-on, but looking at Alfos with blood dotting his face, she felt high. Desire roping her veins for Alfos.
They both stood still, watching each other with Lucinda’s heart leaping. Her brown eyes warm as it caressed over his skin.
She walked ahead silently as Alfos guided her back to the tower. She was well aware of his devouring gaze. It made her skin heat up.
This was the first time Lucinda was quiet around him. How could she talk after seeing the darkness that was the male behind her?
The male who thrived on violence and blood?
He looked so calm, but he was more than that.
Well, that didn’t bother Lucinda. What scared her at the moment was the fact that she loved what she saw. She loved the violence. The blood. And she wanted it.
She wanted the male behind her.
As they walked up the stairs, she wondered how he became the first gladiator. What really drove him into violence and that he now thrived on it.
“This way…” His commanding tone boomed, making her shriek.
She nodded and followed him down the other wing of the tower.
Alfos approached before a wooden door and creaked it open, gesturing for her to enter.
Lucinda lingered in the doorway, looking up at him through her lashes. She tucked her stray hair behind her ear and blurted.
“Are you always like that? Violent?”
Nonchalantly, Alfos said with a gruff, bored voice. “As it seems.” He stared down at her and added. “All gladiators are like that. It’s no place or thing for birds like you…”
“Good,” She said, smirking up at him in a challenge.
“Good?” He hiked a brow up in question, which Lucinda nodded. “Why?”
She closed the gap between them, reaching a finger up to the bruise at the corner of his mouth. Lucinda collected the tinge of blood with her finger, slipped out her tongue, and licked it.
Alfos froze at her action, boring his eyes down at her.
Done savoring the coppery tang of blood, she fluttered her lashes open again and hummed, “Because I loved it. The violence. The gore.”
She gave him a sinister smile, stepped into the room, and locked the door behind her, perching her hand over her rapidly beating heart.
She couldn’t believe what she just did!
