Chapter 137
Chapter 137
This whole series of targeted attacks would be more than enough to take down a small country, let alone the Allen family.
So nobody had any objections.
Ruby nodded with satisfaction.
"Since no one objects, let's get moving. I'll be right here in this hotel, waiting for good news."
The meeting ended. The five major families immediately got to work.
That same afternoon, the stock prices of several publicly listed companies under the Allen Group began to nosedive without any warning. Countless panicked investors rushed to sell off their shares, and the situation briefly spiraled out of control.
Right after that, banks across the board announced they were freezing all credit lines tied to the Allen family. At the same time, a flood of negative news swept across every media platform like a tidal wave.
Then, every raw materials supplier that had been working with the Allen family called one after another, coldly announcing they were terminating their contracts unilaterally.
Finally, nearly every talented employee across the Allen Group came to hand Eric their resignation.
Just like that, the Allen family crumbled completely, like a leaf caught in a storm.
Eric sat in his office, taking one call after another. His face had gone ashen.
He knew perfectly well this was no accident. It was a carefully orchestrated business siege, planned long in advance and aimed squarely at them.
He had miscalculated. He had assumed Victor would keep him around as bait to draw enemies into an anti-Victor alliance, giving himself a chance to turn things around.
What he hadn't counted on was that all the powerful people who had framed Victor back then were already on his side now. And every single one of them was finished. So Victor had no reason to keep him alive anymore.
If he and Victor hadn't had a prior grudge three years ago, what came today wouldn't have been a business siege. It would have been a direct, physical elimination.
In just three days, the Allen family was reduced to ashes. Their stock value evaporated, their physical assets went bankrupt, and their talent walked out the door. The public had nothing but contempt for the Allen family. When Eric's father heard the news, he was so overwhelmed that he vomited blood on the spot and was rushed straight to the ICU.
Fortunately, Eric still had a secret overseas account worth tens of millions of dollars. So his father could at least receive life-sustaining treatment at the hospital for now. How long that money would last, though, was another question entirely.
On the day the Allen family's last remaining company declared bankruptcy, Eric made his way to a dark, damp basement. Brian, Derek, and Philip were all waiting for him there.
The moment he walked in, Philip broke down in tears. "It's over. We're all finished!"
Under the relentless barrage of devastating blows, Philip's mental defenses had completely collapsed.
Derek, his eyes bloodshot, glared at Eric with burning fury. "Eric, this is all your fault! If you hadn't gone out of your way to provoke that monster, how did we end up like this!"
Brian stared at Eric with equal venom. The only reason he hadn't already charged over and beaten Eric senseless was that he knew he couldn't win.
Eric calmly looked around at the three of them.
"Gentlemen, I think you've got this backwards. I had no grudge with Victor three years ago. You, on the other hand, were all on his kill list. And besides, what's the point of going over all this now?"
He slowly rose to his feet, his expression carrying a look of cold resolve.
"We have no way out anymore. Setting aside the funds we need to keep my father alive, we still have one last hidden asset. That money is just enough to pay the Black Sun Cult a deposit. In other words, we still have one last shot at turning this around."
With that, Eric wired the money directly to Romanov, the leader of the Black Sun Cult.
The moment Romanov received the payment, he called back.
"Don't worry, Mr. Allen. Within three days, I'll have that Shura's head delivered right to you."
He hung up without another word.
Eric listened to the dial tone and took a slow, deep breath.
"Gentlemen, the Black Sun Cult is far from a sure bet. So we need to leave now and take shelter at Dr. Weber's research facility. If the Black Sun Cult fails, then our only option will be to go all in with Dr. Weber."
The group fell silent for a moment. Each of them let out a heavy sigh. They all understood that Eric was offering them a way out. But whether that way out was actually a dead end, none of them could say.
Ten minutes later.
Inside the palace on Black Sun Island, headquarters of the Black Sun Cult.
Romanov sat on his throne and issued his orders to the Four Heavenly Kings.
"The four of you, this mission is yours. Bring me Victor's head within three days."
"Yes!"
The Four Heavenly Kings answered in unison, their deference absolute.
The four men were named Isaac, Easton, Noah, and Jensen. Each was an elite warrior at the Half-Step Immortal level. Every one of them had the blood of countless powerful fighters on their hands.
With their orders received, they bowed respectfully and withdrew from the Five Star Palace.
The moment they were outside, Noah couldn't help but sigh. "The leader has lost his mind. You think Shura is someone you can just go kill?"
Jensen frowned in agreement. "Exactly. I've heard so much about Shura Sanctum's fearsome reputation that my ears are practically numb from it."
They were ruthless killers, but they weren't fools. They knew exactly what Victor had been up to lately, and the things he had done were nothing short of earth-shattering. Wiping out the Black King, destroying the Veiled Syndicate's headquarters, massacring the Black Hand Gang, and bringing the Moon Goddess Temple to heel. These were feats they couldn't even imagine pulling off in their wildest dreams.
Sending them to kill someone like that was no different from ordering ants to bite an elephant to death.
Isaac let out a cold laugh.
"Shura himself may be formidable, but does that mean he has no weak spots?"
Noah and Jensen both turned to look at Easton.
"Easton, what are you two getting at?"
Easton curled his lips into a sinister smile.
"Victor himself may be unbeatable. But what about the people around him? Are his friends really as freakishly powerful as he is?"
The two of them immediately understood.
"Got it. Easton, you're brilliant as always!"
Two days later.
The Four Heavenly Kings boarded a plane and quietly landed in Atlanta. They then activated every intelligence network at their disposal to dig into Victor's personal connections.
But the deeper Easton dug, the closer he came to despair.
"Just how paranoid is this Victor about keeping his friends safe?"
The intelligence showed that Amelia, Celine, Anna, Rowena, and the others were all living inside Victor's own estate. And that estate was fortified to an almost absurd degree. Several top-tier assassin organizations had tried to breach it together and failed. The four of them didn't stand a chance.
The other three felt their spirits sink when they heard this. After all, they weren't the only ones who could come up with the idea of going after someone's people when you couldn't get to the man himself.
"Easton, keep scrolling through the intel. Maybe there's something we missed," Noah urged, unwilling to give up.
Easton sighed and kept reading, though his patience was wearing thin. He was already quietly making up his mind that if nothing turned up, he'd just grab some random person off the street, hire a top plastic surgeon to make them look like Victor, and bring that back as proof.
