Chapter 203: A Full House

The night was quiet, a stark contrast to the chaos they had left behind. For the first time in what felt like forever, there was no war to fight, no gunfire, no running. Just them. Just their family.

Nat stood at the doorway to the small nursery space they had set up, watching as Grace and Alejandro breathed evenly in their cribs, their tiny bodies finally at peace. Roman and Ginger were on either side of her, both watching with the same quiet reverence.

"Didn’t think we’d make it here," Ginger murmured, voice low so as not to wake the kids. "Not after everything."

Nat nodded, exhaling softly. "But we did."

Roman reached over, brushing his fingers against hers. "Yeah, we did."

They lingered a moment longer before stepping out, closing the door gently behind them. As soon as they walked into their own room, reality hit.

Ginger stared at the bed. Roman stared at the bed.

It was a full size.

A full size bed.

Ginger was 6’4. Roman was 6’4. And Nat—while she was significantly smaller—was still an entire person.

Roman sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "Alright. Who’s taking the floor?"

Ginger let out a dry laugh, shaking his head. "I am not sleeping on the floor. Not after everything I just survived."

Nat rolled her eyes, already climbing into bed. "You two are grown men who have taken down drug empires and lived through gunfire. Figure it out."

Roman grumbled something under his breath before sitting on one side of the bed. Ginger sat on the other, both men shifting uncomfortably as they tried to fit.

Roman exhaled sharply. "This isn’t gonna work."

Ginger turned his head, glaring at him. "No shit, Wolfe."

Nat snorted, tucking herself into the small space between them. "Then we’re getting a bigger bed tomorrow."

Roman muttered, "We need a damn king size."

Ginger adjusted, arm slipping under Nat to pull her closer. "California king."

Nat smirked, nestling in. "Whatever it is, as long as we all fit."

Despite the lack of space, exhaustion eventually won. The tension faded, the weight of the past few days settling into their bones. One by one, they drifted into sleep, tangled together in a way that somehow made sense.

The Next Morning

Sunlight filtered through the blinds, casting golden streaks across the room. The scent of saltwater and fresh coffee filled the air, signaling the start of a new day.

Nat stirred first, stretching before realizing she was completely pinned.

Roman’s arm was slung over her stomach, heavy and unmoving, while Ginger had somehow shifted so his leg was hooked over hers. Both men were out, their breathing deep, their faces relaxed in a way that made them look younger, almost peaceful.

She smirked. They look like giant puppies.

Carefully, she tried to slip out, but Roman groaned, tightening his grip. "Where do you think you’re going?"

Ginger made a noise of protest, burying his face into the pillow. "Too early."

Nat huffed a laugh. "We have kids, remember? Too early doesn’t exist."

That did the trick. Both men groaned in unison before finally letting her go. She sat up, stretching, before tossing a pillow at them.

"Get up. I want coffee. And we need to buy a damn bed."

Roman grumbled but rolled out of bed, running a hand over his face. "Fine."

Ginger stretched, cracking his neck. "King size, right?"

Nat grinned. "California king."

Roman smirked. "Good. Because I’m not doing that again."

They shuffled to the kitchen, their movements slow and heavy with lingering exhaustion. Nat reached for the coffee pot, pouring herself a cup as Roman leaned against the counter, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. Ginger started rifling through the cabinets, grumbling under his breath.

"Tell me there’s food in this damn house."

Nat took a sip of coffee and shrugged. "I think there’s some cereal."

Roman raised a brow. "For the kids or for us?"

Ginger muttered, "At this point, I don’t care."

Nat smirked, stepping aside as Roman reached into the cabinet and pulled out a box of cereal, shaking it. "Half empty. And no milk."

Ginger groaned. "Alright, we’re adding groceries to the list right after the bed."

Roman nodded. "Groceries, a California king, and maybe a damn coffee machine that doesn’t sound like it’s dying when it brews."

Nat arched a brow. "And I suppose you’ll be funding this new domestic lifestyle?"

Roman smirked. "I may or may not have access to a few offshore accounts Carter didn’t get to liquidate."

Ginger snorted. "You mean you robbed the guy?"

Roman took a slow sip of his coffee. "I call it reparations."

Nat shook her head, but she was smiling. For the first time in a long time, they weren’t fighting for their lives. They weren’t running. They weren’t looking over their shoulders.

They were here. Together. Figuring it out one morning at a time.

The sound of little feet padding across the floor caught their attention, and a second later, Grace appeared in the doorway, rubbing her sleepy eyes. Alejandro followed close behind, toddling after her, both still warm from sleep.

Nat knelt down, opening her arms as they ran to her. "Good morning, my loves."

Roman watched them with a soft expression, setting his coffee down and reaching for Alejandro, lifting him effortlessly into his arms. Ginger scooped up Grace, spinning her around just enough to make her giggle.

Nat watched them, warmth swelling in her chest. This was their life now. A new kind of chaos, but one that felt like home.

Ginger met her eyes over Grace’s shoulder, smirking. "Alright, let’s eat, buy a bed, and figure out how the hell we’re doing this."

Roman chuckled. "One step at a time."

Nat exhaled, looking at her family—her impossibly large family—and smiled.

"One step at a time."
