Chapter 72 Beautiful Mistakes {6}
"If you dare lay a hand to his face, I'll make sure you never see the break of dawn," curls of smoke wisp out from Tiana's barrel.
The three men all turned to her, only the burly man who had been hitting Ryder Jenkins had the boldness to walk up to her.
"What in the world are you doing, Tee, this is our prisoner?" He asked her.
"You won't listen to me if I came here empty-handed. So I'm warning you, Jardon, both you and your stupid crew, do not overstep your boundaries," Tee met his eyes as she closed up the gap between them.
She knew how much Jardon loved her but she never cared. Jardon was her father's favorite, and he had been promoted over the ranks because he was way too smart for a man his age.
"Boundaries? Well, you overstep mine," he snarled at her.
"Like I care. Untie him now," Tiana pointed towards the body of Ryder. She should have known that they would have mishandled the situation. After all Ryder was an enemy and they'd caught Ryder about to make love to her.
Jardon bit his lower lip, while he rolled one of his hands into a ball. His gaze squinted as Tiana's eyes bore into him.
"I won't repeat myself, Jardon," she clenched her teeth to lay emphasis.
Jardon snapped his fingers, and the two other men scurried over Ryder and untied him from the chair. Ryder's body sagged before he slanted towards the floor.
Jardon's grabbed Tiana's hand as she stepped away from him. "You are making a grave mistake," he reminded her.
"I've already started this mistake, I plan to make it beautiful though," her lip quirked up into a smile.
To the other men who were standing now, she commanded. "Take him to my room and have my doctor attend to him immediately."
Jardon's eyes bulged from their sockets as he turned to stare at her.
Ryder shifted in his bed, but what he saw when his eyes opened coated his heart with pride and joy.
Tiana.
She was sitting by his bed, watching his face while he slept. What had happened to those men hitting him? Had she stopped them?
He tried to sit up but stopped himself when he realized that he was naked under the sheets.
"Where are my clothes?" His eyes were sharp and fierce.
Tiana's hand slightly covered her mouth as she giggled. "Should you be bothered about yourself or your clothes?"
"I...I...," he stuttered, his cheeks flushed red. She shouldn't be seeing his body like this. But again he was reminded, will the embarrassment of his naked body matter if he'd been dead?
"I'm glad you are awake. I made you some Eastern tea, try to drink up. You've been slipping in and out of consciousness for two days," she stood up in her short dress to get him the tea.
Ryder struggled to sit up as she turned, gathering the blankets to conceal the lower part of his body.
Slowly, she reached out to pass the mug of tea to him, while she preferably sat in front of him. What she wore indirectly disturbed him no matter how he tried to drag his eyes away. She wore a thin satin dress that had her nipples protruding firmly through the dress. Since the gown was short, her white pale thighs reminded him of the day they were making love.
"Are you alright? Do you still feel dizzy perhaps?" She leaned forward and planted her palm on his temple.
Her scent snailed through his nose, and without thinking he was looking at her lips.
She saw the way he looked at her and how he tried to mask the desire by sipping his tea.
"Yeah, I'm alright," he put in quickly.
"I'm glad. The doctor said you need to eat up to gather up your strength. I'll have the cook make up something for you." Her smile was infectious but Ryder's hand clamped over hers as she tried to stand.
"What about your brothers?" Ryder asked her.
Tiana's brows twitched as she sat back. "Brothers?" She was muzzled by the question.
"You know, in my country - a man or woman is your brother or sister even if you're not related." He explained.
"Oh," realization dawned on her.
The way she looked at him, he hated the way the tool between his legs which was already throbbing to a wake. She was attractive to look on and he was attracted to her.
Thank God for the blankets concealing his boner.
"They are not my brothers, just cold-blooded warriors who are all bent on seeing you dead," she stood up then and left him to his thoughts.
She had answered his questions. She did save him from those men.
Who was she?
Wasn't she just a spy?
How does a spy have the power to wield so much authority without being interrogated?
She returned with a tray of oatmeal and scrambled eggs. She didn't leave, she continued to enjoy the sight of him eating.
"Would you like to join me?" He was forced to ask her, he didn't feel comfortable under her gaze.
"Ahh, no no, you need all the strength, remember?" She said.
And she didn't make it easier for him, leaning over him now and then to touch him. He was fighting the urge to run his hand between her round breasts and kiss her to sit in one place.
"How were you able to save me from them?" His eyes found hers, despite his flickering eyes to her breasts and her thighs.
She cleared her throat, wouldn't a direct reply to him make him entirely uncomfortable? She wouldn't like to give him a lie either.
She stood up and picked up his empty dish while her feet accidentally tugged on the blanket that had extended on the floor.
The rest of the blanket that concealed Ryder's groin gave way, sliding quickly over his boner. His hands weren't quick to grab the material.
His boner came into view; long, veiny, and proud.
