Chapter 52 Two Lunatics
"No way! Sophia and I already made plans—I'm driving her there!" Amelia wrapped her arms around Sophia's arm protectively. There was no way she was going to miss such spectacular drama at the hospital without being there to cheer from the sidelines.
Michael had no intention of competing with Amelia for Sophia's attention. They were all friends, and he knew Amelia always had Sophia's back.
Anyone good to Sophia—what reason would he have to antagonize them?
So he said, "If you want to come watch the show, you can ride in my car. I'll treat you both to dinner afterward and drive you home."
Clearly, Amelia was thinking along the same lines as Michael. The moment he spoke, she immediately agreed, "It's settled then!"
She pulled Sophia toward the car, and the two girls took the back seat, leaving Michael to sit in the passenger seat.
The Maybach headed toward City General Hospital.
"How are your parents doing?" Sophia asked with concern.
Michael turned around to look at Sophia and said, "Mr. Wright says my parents' condition has stabilized, but when they'll wake up is still unknown."
"You got Mr. Wright from Solstice Haven to come see them?" Amelia was amazed. The old gentleman was incredibly mysterious—countless dignitaries had tried to get an audience with him without success.
After Amelia's grandfather passed away, her grandmother developed hysteria. The family had gone to Solstice Haven many times without being able to see Brandon. It wasn't until Sophia personally took her grandmother there that Brandon agreed to treat her.
Half a month later, when Sophia brought her grandmother back, she had completely recovered.
Throughout the entire process, they never saw Brandon—they could only ask Sophia to deliver their gifts of gratitude.
Now, Brandon was actually willing to come out of seclusion and treat the Green Group couple at the hospital?
What kind of influence did that require?
Sophia didn't answer Amelia's question, saying calmly, "Mr. Wright possesses medical skills beyond ordinary comprehension. The situation will definitely improve gradually."
Michael nodded, hoping in his heart that his parents would wake up soon. Even if they couldn't get out of bed and walk around, just regaining consciousness so he could talk to them would be enough.
The sun was setting in the west, dusk was approaching, and colorful clouds painted half the sky red.
The Maybach stopped at the hospital entrance. Sophia glanced outside through the car window and keenly spotted several entertainment reporters disguised as passersby stationed there.
Of course, they weren't waiting for news about Andrew and John's injuries—they were staking her out.
The female protagonist had been inexplicably swept into this media storm.
"I'll wait here for you."
Michael's voice carried a hint of laughter. Things had already gotten big enough—if he showed up too, he'd probably become the third male lead in this scandal.
Amelia understood Michael's concerns and threw her arm around Sophia's shoulders, saying, "I'll go up with Sophia. Don't worry, Michael—Sophia will be fine!"
Sophia lowered her eyes and smiled softly. "Who said I was going up?"
From the beginning, she'd said she was here to see those entertainment reporters.
Whether Andrew and John lived or died—what did that have to do with her?
The two got out of the car, with Michael resting his elbow on the inside of the car window, watching Sophia's performance.
The entertainment reporters disguised as passersby spotted Sophia and, like sharks smelling blood, pulled out their cameras, wanting to capture photos of Sophia entering the hospital for material.
But unexpectedly, Sophia stopped at the foot of the hospital entrance steps. Her gaze swept over them, and they panicked, trying to hide, but it was already too late.
"Stop the act. Don't you want material? What's the point of hiding and taking secret photos? I'm standing right here—won't you come out and say hello?"
Sophia wore a faint smile on her face, gracious and composed, with a commanding presence—she was still every bit the high-positioned Ms. Smith.
Entertainment reporters normally worked by following leads and taking covert photos, unlike other journalists. Who would want to show their face?
For a moment, the scene fell into an icy silence.
Amelia let out a cold laugh and raised her voice, "I know people at every media outlet. If you don't come out and say hello, I'll go have a chat with your bosses instead."
Amelia, the sole heir to the industry's top enterprise, Luminous Echo Productions, what entertainment reporter would dare offend her? They obediently emerged and gathered in front of Sophia.
"Ms. Martinez, we're just trying to make a living. Please have mercy and don't make things difficult for us," one of them said.
"Hey, this has nothing to do with me." Amelia held up a hand to stop their pleas, glancing at Sophia beside her before continuing, "I'm just here today to support Sophia."
Everyone turned to look at Sophia.
Sophia curved her red lips and said calmly, "Don't you want material?"
With those words, everyone understood immediately. Some turned on their phone cameras, and others started recording with professional equipment.
They began doing their job as professional reporters, asking questions.
"Ms. Smith..." One person started, then received a sharp look from Sophia and quickly corrected himself, "Ms. Johnson, regarding today's trending topics on social media, what are your thoughts? Are you planning to choose one of the Smith Group's two heirs as a marriage partner?"
Sophia laughed lightly, her laugh somewhat cold. "Everyone here has worked in Emerald City for years and reported on plenty of scandals involving the city's elite families. Don't you know that Andrew, John, and I are mortal enemies?"
"But now that you've left the Smith family, and Andrew and John have publicly expressed their desire to marry you, you..."
"You mean that because I left one wealthy family, I should use other means to get back into another wealthy family? Even if that means marrying my enemies? I've been in business for over ten years, and I've never heard of such an absurd way to get rich."
"Your special trip to the hospital. Isn't it time to visit Andrew and John?"
"What? Are you interested in coming upstairs with me to watch how I slap them across the face?"
Everyone immediately fell silent. Sophia's attitude was tough, her tone carrying malice, without the slightest hint of concern for Andrew and John's injuries. She seemed more like she wanted to tear those two apart piece by piece.
It seemed all the rumors in Emerald City were true—Sophia and Andrew and John were like fire and water. Now that Sophia was no longer the Smith family's daughter, they'd gone from fighting in secret to fighting openly.
These three were definitely sworn enemies who would never reconcile!
Actually, they'd found it strange, too. They'd seen the three of them together several times before, and every encounter was filled with tense atmosphere. The sudden claim that Andrew and John had fought over Sophia was truly baffling.
Now it seemed this was just another way for the Smith family's Andrew and John to make Sophia's life uncomfortable!
Sophia had already left the Smith family. They moved in different circles now and might never have reason to meet again in this lifetime. Was it necessary to be so ruthless?
People with absolute power were indeed cold-hearted and merciless!
Once the video was uploaded, it immediately shot to the top of trending topics, and public opinion shifted accordingly.
Amelia twirled her pasta while scrolling through social media, unable to understand what exactly Sophia had done to them. Why did Andrew and John insist on making trouble for Sophia?
Now they were even saying they wanted to marry Sophia?
As if Sophia was someone they could get their hands on!
The more Amelia thought about it, the angrier she got. She clicked her tongue and cursed, "What a pair of lunatics!"
