Chapter 82 What I Always Wanted
"What do you want in my office?" Bernard said as he strode into the office.
"Well, I know you care a lot about Angela Anderson," Susan began, and Bernard was suddenly interested in what she was saying. "I found her," she added.
"You are not playing any tricks, are you?" Bernard said and sat behind his desk.
"What would I gain from it?" Susan asked, and Bernard realised there was nothing Susan would gain for lying about Angela's location.
Bernard did not believe Angela was sick. He felt Bryce was hiding something. Even though he had no justification for his suspicion, he knew Bryce had never defended any woman who had worked with him as his secretary. So he was surprised when Bryce called and asked him to communicate with the senior management team, as Angela was on sick leave and had not sent any email.
"So where is she?" Bernard asked.
"She is meeting up with someone tonight. I will give you the details, and you can meet her instead," Susan said. "Look, Mr Moore is interested in her. If you make the first move, she will be yours," she added. "Angela is not here because Mr Moore expressed his feelings for her, and she doesn't know how to handle it," she whispered, and that made sense to Bernard, but he still acted stubbornly.
"Mr President wouldn't stoop that low," Bernard said, and Susan scoffed.
"Ask yourself one important question," Susan said, leaning in towards Bernard with her hands resting on his desk. "Why is Mr Moore defending this girl? She is not the only innocent girl who has walked into this company, so why is he defending her and never the others?" she asked, and Bernard knew she was right.
"You can call me when you are ready, and I will send you the details," Susan said and walked out of Bernard's office.
Bernard was lost in his thoughts. He had worked closely with Bryce for a long time, and he had never put up a defence for anyone. He would allow you to go through the system and give the final approval for the decisions to be made. He was surprised when Bryce acted differently in Angela's issues that came up. He even went to the press conference and spoke up for Angela.
"Could Susan be right and the only reason why Angela is not here is that Mr Moore proposed to her?" Bernard asked himself. "Is that why Mr Moore put in a sick leave request for her?" he asked, and he was leaning towards what Susan said and believing that was the case.
Bernard picked up his phone and decided to text Susan.
Send me the location. I would like to meet her and find out what happened.
Bernard read through what he had written and sent it to Susan, and he received a reply from Susan.
Okay. Go to the Bunny Club at 6 p.m. Today. She is meeting someone there. Find Alejandro and tip him to stop anyone who would come looking for Flora. That is the name she is using there.
Bernard read the reply and replied with okay. He continued with his work.
Meanwhile, back at Eva's place, she was watching TV when her phone rang. It was Susan. Eva answered immediately.
"Everything is set. You will go to the Bunny Club and meet Bernard there. I have made the arrangements," Susan informed Eva.
"Thank you, Susan," Eva appreciated excitedly.
"Hold on," Susan said. "That is not all," she added. "He thinks he is coming to see Angela. So this is what you will do. You remember the drug I gave you. Put it into a syringe and stand behind the door. As soon as he enters the room, jab him with it. You will have a maximum of five minutes to get him into a room before he gets all over you like hair on soap," she explained.
"Okay, thank you," Eva said.
"Once he sleeps with you. You know what to do," Susan added.
"Yes, I do," Eva replied, and the call ended.
Back at Bryce's family home, Elena was having a conversation with her mother, Patricia, on the balcony. Devon had gone out to meet up with some people.
"Mum, yesterday at class, I met this girl who said she knew someone, who happens to be Ms Angela's best friend," Elena said, and Patricia turned to look at her.
"That is great. Invite her over and let her lead us to her. Bryce would be so happy," Patricia said.
"No, mum. Let me handle it. I will be meeting her again tomorrow. I will engage her and find out more. I can go meet Ms Angela and tell her how Bryce is doing without her and convince her to come back to him. I am sure I will find out why she left," Elena said.
"Let me engage her as a mother. I believe that would even let her know how important it is to find Ms Angela," Patricia suggested.
"I understand mum but we don't want to scare this lady off. Let me handle it," Elena insisted, and Patricia nodded.
The day slowly passed, and Bryce left the office for home.
"Sir, we have an idea of where Ms Angela is," Marcus reported, and Bryce stared in the direction of Marcus from the back seat.
"Where?" Bryce asked.
"There is an apartment downtown. She is staying there with one Zora, her bestie from college," Marcus replied.\]
"Let's go there now?" Bryce said.
"Sir, my informant had not shared the location with me yet, but promised to confirm first that Ms Angela lives in that building before sending all the details to me. I just felt you should know that we are close to finding Ms Angela," Marcus explained.
"I want the information by tomorrow noon," Bryce said, sounding unhappy that he had to wait, but alas, it was just a couple of hours more.
Bernard had also left his home, heading for the bunny club whose location Susan had shared with him earlier.
At the club, he found a place, parked his car and walked towards the bar.
"I am looking for Alejandro," Bernard said to the man at the gate.
"¿Quién pregunta?" came the voice of a tall, masculine man with tattoos all over.
"I am sorry, I don't speak Spanish. Espanol, no no no," Bernard said.
"I am Alejandro. What do you want?" Alejandro asked, his Spanish accent so evident in his voice.
"I am here to meet Flora, but here is something to make sure no one comes to see her," Bernard said and gave Alejandro a bundle of cash.
"No problemo. Come in," Alejandro said after taking the cash from Bernard.
Bernard entered the club and headed for the room, supposed to be the place where Angela was waiting for whoever the man was. Bernard pushed the door open after a knock and entered.
Eva was standing right behind the door. Bernard scanned the empty room and took a step, followed by allowing the door to close. Eva was right behind the door. She quickly jabbed Bernard's neck with the syringe, and the drug pushed in.
Bernard's hand flew to the side of his neck, almost to his back and stared at Eva's face under the dim light. His vision suddenly became blurry. Eva placed his hand around her shoulder and helped him out of the room and straight to a booked room upstairs.
Once they were inside the room, Bernard pulled her into his arms and began kissing her.
"What I always wanted," Eva thought and got wild with Bernard, allowing him to undress her.
