Chapter 34 Fight and Love Chemistry
Bryce stared at her face. He married her because she was the first woman he had slept with. He could not bring himself to give his body to another woman. He didn't marry her out of love or because she fit anything of his, just because she was his first. He was also very much aware that he was her first, too. He had never had the urge to go to bed with her again after their first time in the club, where he was drugged. He didn't have much memory of how it felt, and to make things worse, aside from the fact that he was always occupied with either work or family stuff, they were sleeping in separate rooms. He felt different for the first time around her when she started getting nightmares, and he was forced to share a bed with her.
The other day, when he saw Angela with Bernard, he didn't like it. He didn't want Angela around Bernard, and feeling the two may hook up again after work, he decided to take her home himself that day. He was angry, and he reminded her of their contract. She can not be with any other man. What made him kiss her is something he could not explain. When he kissed her, he couldn't stop himself. He wanted more. That is how he ended up sleeping with her a second time. This will be the first time he made love to her as her husband.
Bryce stared at Angela lying beneath him with her lashes lowered. He took in her facial features for the first time. She was a beauty. Angela lay there still, like she was lifeless, but the steady movement of her chest indicated that she was still breathing. Bryce lowered himself a little more by resting on his elbow. He was now lying on top of her. He traced the shape of her face like he was amazed by her features.
Angela lay on the bed still, and she closed her eyes, wondering if he was going to sleep with her again or if they were just going to be in this position till he decided to leave.
Bryce brushed his lips against Angela's, and that was when he got a reaction from her.
"Please, don't," Angela said, and Bryce frowned.
"Don't what?" he asked, staring at her, but Angela could not look him in the eye.
"I can't," Angela said and began to push against his chest.
Bryce pulled her hands and put them together above her head, holding both hands at the wrist with one hand.
"Why?" Bryce asked, his voice calm and gentle.
"You have someone?" Angela replied.
"What gave you that impression?" Bryce asked, expecting her to mention the morning incident so he would confirm his suspicion, but Angela looked at him, surprised and quickly shifted her gaze elsewhere.
"Why is he denying what was very obvious? I know what I saw. He was closing his buttons, and Susan was slipping her dress hand back onto her shoulders. What were they doing that left them dressing up when I entered the office?" Angela thought.
"Is this about Bernard?" Bryce asked, recalling how Bernard looked at Angela.
"What?" Angela said with a frown.
"You heard me. So answer the question," Bryce said, his voice losing its calmness.
"There is nothing going on between Bernard and me. We are just friends. Working buddies," Angela replied, sounding annoyed as she struggled to free herself from his grip.
"I am not stupid. I saw you two. At the gate, at the restaurant. You don't look like just friends to me," Bryce sneered.
"You are monitoring me?" Angela asked with a frown.
"Yes, you are my wife. Mine and I have the right to monitor you," Bryce said, sounding angry.
"I see," Angela snapped. "So you can fool around, but I can't," she questioned.
"So now you agree you are messing around with Bernard?" Bryce asked, getting angry.
"And you are messing around with Susan," Angela snapped back.
"Who told you that?" Bryce questioned, still lying on top of her, but with his anger rising, his grip around her wrist tightened, wounding her hand, but Angela was too angry to pay any attention to her hurting wrist.
"I saw you two in the office this morning. I am not blind," Angela barked with a frown.
Bryce held her by her jaw and kissed her. Angela protested, but it was only for a while, and she gave in to him. She felt his hand exploring her body as she explored his. A part of her wanted her to stop, and the other part wanted her to yield to the desire built up in her. Soon, their clothes were coming off their bodies and flying to the floor. Angela felt him push into her, and she grabbed the sheets, but it didn't hurt like that other time; rather, she liked the feel. They both sounded like they were angry at each other, but their passionate session was amazing. He kissed her lips, jawline, her neck, her chest, paying attention to her entire body. She loved the feel of his body under her touch. She also kissed him everywhere. They rolled all over the bed, lost in passion.
Angela opened her eyes to the sound of her alarm. She stretched her hand and turned it off. She turned around and realised she was sleeping alone in the bed. Bryce was gone. She sat down feeling crushed. He was with Susan, and he was turning her into his sex toy.
Last time, when he kissed her, she did her best to fight what she was feeling, but she couldn't. She held her head in frustration for a while before entering the bathroom. She freshened up, dressed up and left for work without having breakfast again.
The previous day, aside from the champagne she took at Zora's place and the sandwich she ate in the morning, she didn't eat anything, and it looks like today is not going to be different.
She arrived at the company and started with her morning routine. This time, when she carried the coffee to Bryce's office, she found the office locked. She unlocked it with her spare key and strode in. The office was the same as they had left it. He had not been to the office. She placed the coffee on the table, opened the windows and drew the curtains to allow in some fresh air.
She headed for the door once she was done. As soon as she opened the door, she came face-to-face with Susan. Angela's heart skipped multiple beats, and the next person she saw was Bryce. His face carried a cold expression, while Susan's face carried an expression of satisfaction.
Angela alternated her gaze between the two, forgetting she was blocking the entrance to the office.
