Chapter 175 A Dying Wish - Part 1
Zora stared at the screen with widened eyes, wondering who had posted the news that she had come to work for Diamond Corporation.
"Zora, I came here to see you," Elorm said, putting his phone away.
Zora stared at him with a confused expression and surprise running through her body like shock waves. It's been only a few hours, and she is already in the news.
"What is happening?" Zora thought, staring at Elorm.
"Zora, I first want to apologise for how I treated you. I know I was unfair to you. I abandoned you when you needed me the most," Elorm apologised, but Zora's mind was still on the news she had just seen.
"I left because," Elorm began, paused and lowered his head. "Zora, I am dying," he said, snapping Zora's mind out of her thoughts.
"What happened?" Zora asked, suddenly concerned.
Elorm sat down, and Zora sat down next to him, waiting to hear what was wrong with him. She stared at Elorm with concern. Elorm inhaled deeply and picked up a bag lying on the table in front of them. He opened it and brought out an envelope. He handed the envelope to Zora.
"What is this?" Zora asked, frowning and confused, as he took the envelope from his hand.
"What I hid from you," Elorm replied and buried his face in his palm as Zora opened the envelope.
Zora brought out the contents of the envelope. It was a diagnosis report from the hospital. She went through it, and her eyes widened.
"Cancer?" Zora asked with widened eyes.
"Yes, Zora," Elorm replied, lifting his head from his palm to stare at Zora with an expression of staying strong. "I have cancer," he confirmed. "I am in my final stage," he said. "I may die any time soon. I don't know. Today, tomorrow, I don't know, but I don't have much time to live," he said and lowered his head.
"I am sorry. I didn't know," Zora said, feeling very sorry for him.
"When I found out about my health, I didn't want to drag you into it. That is why I left and blocked your number," Elorm said. "But a couple of days ago, I realised I was not being fair to you. You have the right to know, so you will not feel betrayed by love. You know I love you, right?" he said, and a tear fell from Zora's eyes, staring at Elorm, smiling even though his pain was evident in his eyes.
"I know," Zora replied and lowered her head.
"Hey, these are things of life. We won't stay on this earth forever. It's just that my time came early," Elorm said and sniffled, wiping her tears away.
"Hey," Elorm said and cupped the side of her face, rubbing her cheeks with his thumb. "Don't cry, I just wanted you to know. And in return, I need you to do me one favour," he said.
"What is it?" Zora asked, ready to do anything for him at this moment.
Zora had a soft spot for Elorm, and Elorm knew that. He may have never confessed to Zora that he loved her, but he knew Zora loved him. He knew the kind of work his father was into, but he didn't know Bryce would kill him. He was hurt when he heard the news of his father's death. He just extended the hate he has for Bryce to Zora because his father died because of Angela, her best friend.
Elorm stared at Zora briefly before pulling his hand down from her cheeks. He reached out for his wig and took it off, revealing his bald head. Zora gasped, seeing his head completely shaved.
"I started a chemo treatment, and this is what it did to me. Now I wear a wig," Elorm said and put his wig back on.
"Zora, I don't want to spend my last days stuck up in bed waiting for death to come for me," Elorm said with a serious expression. "I had always dreamt of working in this company. I didn't know who to talk to, but when I saw this gossip, it put some joy in my heart," he said. "Please, make my dream come true," he requested.
"I don't know, but I will see what I can do," Zora said after opening her mouth multiple times like a goldfish.
"Thank you, Zora. This means a lot to me," Elorm said with a smile and excitement.
He hugged her excitedly, and when he pulled away from her, he unexpectedly kissed her. Zora froze for a minute as she didn't expect him to do that. The door opened briefly and closed without Zora realising it, but Elorm saw the person who had opened the door and quickly closed it.
"Elorm, please don't do that," Zora said after pushing Elorm away from herself. "I have someone," she said.
"I am sorry. I was just caught in a moment," Elorm said and lowered his head, but inwardly he smiled.
He had Zora exactly where he wanted her. He was going to be the insider who would be giving out information that would help take Bryce and Angela down. As for Zora, he was going to turn her into his slave and only dispose of her after he was done with her.
"It's okay," Zora said with a frown. "I would talk to Mr Moore about it," she said.
"Thank you, Zora," Elorm said. "I will take my leave now," he informed her, and Zora stood to her feet.
Elorm stood up too and started walking towards the door. Zora followed him, still thinking about the report she had seen.
At the reception, she said bye to Elorm and thanked the receptionist.
"Ms Zora, I thought the introduction would happen in two hours, but Mr Moore asked me to gather all the employees. They are all in the auditorium," she informed her.
"Oh, thank you," Zora appreciated and headed for the auditorium after the receptionist showed her where it was.
Zora walked into the auditorium, and the room was filled with employees. She didn't see Bryce or Martin, but she saw Britney, who called her to come to the front. Zora walked to the front and found Bernard, Evans and Ariana. They made room for her, and she joined them on their seat. There was some murmuring among the employees as everyone engaged in one conversation or another with a friend.
The door to the auditorium opened, and Bryce walked in with Martin. The room suddenly went pin-drop silent. Zora turned to see what was happening, and she saw Bryce and Martin walking towards the front. She smiled seeing Martin, but Martin's face carried a serious expression.
