Chapter 174 Company Rebranding - Part 2
"I will make you pay for ending my father's life," Elorm said under his breath through gritted teeth.
The night passed uneventfully, and soon it was morning. Martin, Zora and Bryce left the apartment for the company, leaving Angela home alone with a few guards and the house servants.
On the way to the company, Zora sat next to Martin, who was behind the wheel. Bryce was in the back seat of the car, working on his tablet. Behind their car was a second car with four guards occupying it. They arrived at Diamond Corporation, and Zora stared at the gigantic building from the window as they drove in.
"Wow!" she exclaimed in awe, and Martin smiled.
The cars drove into the garage and parked. Martin got out of the car and opened the door for Bryce. and grabbed Bryce's laptop bag. Bryce stepped out, and Zora also got out of the car, admiring the environment.
"This way," Martin said to Zora realizing she was still admiring the environment while Bryce was walking towards the elevator.
"Yes, sure," Zora said and smiled before hurrying her steps to follow them.
All four of them entered the elevator and soon found themselves on the eighth floor. They walked into Bryce's office, leaving the two guards standing at the doorpost of Bryce's office.
Bryce dropped his tablet on the table, and Martin placed Bryce's laptop bag on the table too. Bryce walked Zora to the couch and sat down with her.
"Okay, so your office is on the sixth floor," Bryce began. "There is little time to do an onboarding with you. This is why I gave you the documents for you to go through. I am here to help make things simple. So do you have any questions from the documents you read?" he asked.
"No, please," Zora replied.
"Okay, do you have any general questions you would like to ask?" Bryce asked.
"Currently no," Zora replied.
"Okay," Bryce said. "Let me see what you have done with the case study," he said, and Zora retrieved her phone from her bag.
She quickly went to her files and opened her presentation. She placed the phone on the table and retrieved a mini projector from her bag. She set it up under Bryce's watchful gaze.
"Martin, please help me turn on the light?" Zora said to Martin, and he proceeded to draw the curtains.
With the lights dimmed and the phone connected to the mini projector, Bryce could see Zora's presentation projected on the plain side of his office wall.
"Okay," Zora began and stood to her feet.
Martin stood behind them, almost in the middle of the room, staring at Zora doing her presentation. She had her hair tied in a down pony with the tail resting on her left shoulder. She didn't have make-up on, but she did apply lip gloss, giving her lips a soft shine. She wore a white sleeveless blouse and a black office skirt with a side split exposing her right leg up to 4 inches above her knee. She stood on a five-inch heel. She had a chain bracelet on her left hand, a small pair of earrings and a necklace. Martin could not stop admiring her glowing beauty while she did her presentation.
Bryce, on the other hand, sat down listening to her walk him through what she had put together and couldn't help but admire her intelligence.
"Thank you," Zora said once she was done.
Bryce asked a few questions, and Zora answered them all to his satisfaction.
"Well done. That was very impressive. We can roll this out. It fits into the development strategy," Bryce said and asked Martin to increase the brightness of the light in his office.
Martin drew the curtains and allowed in some natural light righting up the room.
"I will invite the others to the office, and I will do an official introduction. Your work starts immediately. You will be introduced to the employees when I return to the office," Bryce said to Zora.
"Yes, sir," Zora acknowledged.
Bryce made a call, and soon, Britney, Bernard, Evans and Ariana were in his office. They all sat around the round table, and Bryce gave them a quick update and informed them about the activities of the day.
"The architecture team will be coming to change the company inscription and also change some designs in the company," Bryce informed them. "I will be going back to complete the paperwork with the authorities. Remember, everything must be done within this week, and today is Tuesday. Next week, it's going to be a massive advertisement," he added.
"By the way, I told you about the new HR manager," Bryce began. "With me here is Ms Zora. She is the HR assistant and the HR manager herself, who is currently indisposed, and is no other person than Mrs Angela Moore," he introduced.
"Mrs Angela Moore, as in Ms Angela Anderson. Ms Angela, we all know?" Bernard asked, trying to confirm if it was another Angela or the same Angela they knew.
"The same Angela you all know," Bryce replied with a smile. "She is now Mrs Moore. I will use this opportunity to invite you to the renewal of our vows this weekend," he added, and Zora smiled.
She shifted her gaze to Martin, who was now sitting on the couch doing something on his phone.
"Congratulations, Mr Moore," Ariana said with excitement, and all the others joined in congratulating Bryce.
"So that means, we can date each other now?" Britney asked, staring at Bernard with a mischievous smile.
"I am fasting," Bernard said, seeing Britney staring at him.
"We are talking about dating, partnership, not food," Ariana chipped in.
"I know, and I said I am fasting," Bernard replied.
"Oooh, you are staying off women," Evans said. "For how long?" he asked.
"Wait, you can fast off people?" Britney asked with a surprised look on her face, and Zora smiled, finding them very friendly and interesting.
"Yes, especially when they are troublesome," Bernard said, and Britney gasped.
"Okay," Bryce stepped in. "That is enough. You can continue your debate after working hours," he said, and they all giggled.
"Mr Moore, Bernard needs a one-on-one discussion with you. He needs to tap into your blessings," Britney said, and they all laughed, knowing exactly what she meant.
"I will see what I can do," Bryce said, adding some humour to the whole conversation.
They quickly moved to welcoming Zora, and they discussed a few important things before Bryce instructed Bernard to get Zora all the tools she would need.
Bryce left with Martin for the town to complete the paperwork with the authorities. Back at the company, the architects arrived and quickly began their work after speaking with Zora, Britney, Evans and Bernard.
Bryce returned to the office late afternoon and was very happy with the architectural work. The inscription had already been changed to PEG.
The day was going smoothly, and Zora was giving her new position her all after settling in. There was so much to do. She was in the office that used to be for Susan and Eva. It has been changed into an office for one, and the place redecorated. There was a knock on the door, and Zora invited the person in with her gaze still glued to her laptop.
"Good afternoon, Ms Zora. You have a visitor at the reception," the person reported, and Zora shifted her gaze to the employee who had come to inform her about her guest.
Today is her first day at work, and she already has a visitor. Who could that be was the only question on Zora's mind.
"Who is it?" Zora asked, staring at the employee with a squeezed eyebrow.
"He refused to give his name, saying it's a surprise. That is what the receptionist told me. She couldn't call you because your phone line is being worked on. It will be ready in two hours," the employee informed Zora.
"Okay," Zora said, wondering who could be looking for her.
She finished with what she was currently working on, sent the email to Bryce and copied Evans. She stood up from behind her desk and exited her office. She walked to the elevator and pressed for the ground floor.
She was soon in the reception, and she walked up to the receptionist.
"I understand I have a visitor?" Zora asked after greeting her.
"You must be Ms Zora. You are welcome. We will be having the introduction done two hours from now," the receptionist informed Zora with a welcoming smile.
"Thank you," Zora appreciated.
"Yes, you have a visitor in the visitor's waiting area. This way, please," the receptionist said and led Zora to the visitor's waiting area.
The receptionist opened the door, and Zora saw the back of someone sitting on the couch as soon as she entered. She got closer, and the person stood up to greet her after the receptionist left her to return to her post.
"Elorm?" Zora called out his name, surprised when he turned to face her.
Elorm managed a smile and raised his hand to shake hers. Zora stood there, wondering how he knew where to find her.
"What are you doing here, and how did you know I was here?" Zora asked, skipping all pleasantries and leaving Elorm's hand hanging.
"You are on social media?" Elorm replied and showed Zora his phone.
Zora stared at the screen and read a gossip news article.
Diamond Corporation Rebranding. Bring in a new HR, whose name starts with Z. Best friend of a woman whose name starts with the letter A. Whose name circulated on social media due to a scandal and murder stuff.
Zora stared at the screen with widened eyes, wondering who had posted the news of her coming to work for Diamond Corporation.
