Chapter 108 You Are Mine Now - Part 1

Chapter 108 You Are Mine Now - Part 1
Mr Anderson relaxed in his seat, searching his mind after hearing what James had just said.
"Sweetheart," Mrs Anderson called out to her husband, staring at his face. "Do you have anyone in mind?" she asked.
"This is where I got stuck," James interrupted. "I don't know anyone at the headquarters. If I go there, I will be raising this issue like an ordinary person who has come to report a case to a higher authority, and they will treat it as such. If whoever is giving the orders is from the headquarters, he will screw us up," he added.
"I think I might have someone in mind. It's time to reach out to an old friend," Mr Anderson said after a minute of silence, and Mrs Anderson smiled.
At Diamond Corporation, Susan was behind her desk trying to get some work done as the whole company prepared for the premiere schedule for later in the evening. The door to her office slowly opened, drawing Susan's attention to it. She began to wonder who was entering her office without knocking. The door was fully open, and a familiar face was now in clear view, making Susan smile.
"Did you miss me?" Eva asked, striking a pose at the door.
"Of course I did. It was lonely here without you," Susan said and stood up to hug Eva.
Eva closed the door behind her and walked towards Susan's desk. She opened her arms and hugged Susan over the desk.
"Welcome back," Susan said while hugging Eva.
"Thank you," Eva responded, and they pulled away from the hug.
Eva sat down on the chair in front of Susan's desk, and Susan also sat down on her chair.
"You know you could have come in earlier instead of serving the whole period of suspension," Susan pointed out.
"I know, but I needed the time to also take care of some personal things," Eva said. "Again, we would not have achieved this success if I had reported to the office earlier," she added.
"Well, you are right," Susan said.
"Now, you can have Bryce to yourself," Eva said, smiling.
"Yes, I plan to do so tonight," Susan said, and they both giggled. "Anyway, how is the wedding preparation coming and how is Bernard? He seems very cold these days," she asked.
"Yeah, he is cold towards me too, but I don't care. I am getting married to him. He can't ignore me forever," Eva said.
"That is true. Once you two get married. You will move in with him, and once that happens. He can't ignore you forever," Susan said.
"I am hoping so," Eva said.
"Don't worry. What is important is that he has agreed to marry you. Once you two are married and living together, always look seductive. He would not be able to resist you," Susan said. "The cat can never refuse a fish," he added.
"True," Eva agreed, and they both laughed.
At 13th Street, Block A, the police were looking around searching to see if they had missed anything. Once office saw something wrapped in a poly and hidden behind the bin behind the flat.
"I found something," the officer said and pulled it out with his hand in gloves.
The leader drew closer to look at what he had found. He unwrapped it, and it was a phone.
"It's a phone," the officer said.
"I can see," the leader said. "Turn it on, let's see," he requested.
The officer tried turning it on and couldn't.
"I think the battery is low or something. Either that or it's spoilt," the officer reported.
"Put it in the bag, and look around again," the leader said.
After a couple of minutes more, they left the place back to the station. The leader took the phone found at the scene to the criminal department.
"Please help me check for fingerprints and also if we can put the phone on to see what is on it," the leader said.
"Sure," one officer at the criminal department said and took the bag with the phone inside it.
At Bryce's apartment, he was in his study trying to get some work done when his phone rang. He checked the caller ID, and it was his father.
"Hello, Dad," Bryce said after answering the call.
"Hello, Bryce," Devon said. "Are you at the office?" he asked.
"No, I am working from home today," Bryce replied.
"Okay," Devon said. "I went to the asking about Patricia's body. I was informed they would release the body in the next three days. We can make preparations for burial then," he informed him.
"Okay," Bryce said.
"Bryce, you are having the second premiere tonight?" Devon asked.
"Yes," Bryce replied.
"I take it from your response that you are not going?" Devon said.
"No, I am not," Bryce said. "The team would handle it. They can," he added.
"Bryce, no," Devon objected. "That is a new business extension. You can't leave it in your team's hands yet. A scandal happened even when you were there. What do you think would happen now that you are not there?" he asked.
"Nothing will happen, Dad. Britney is very capable of handling everything. Bernard, Don and Peter are there to help. They are the ones handling it," Bryce said. "Again, those who created the scandal are not in the company," he added.
"Have you forgotten Eva resumes work today?" Devon said, and Bryce sat up. "Your silence tells me you have forgotten," he added. "You need to be there and ensure everything goes well," he suggested.
"Fine," Bryce replied, and the call ended.
Bryce had forgotten about Eva, but he gave it a thought.
They used Angela to create that scandal, and Angela is now in prison. Would they dare create another scandal?" Bryce thought.
After thinking through it, he decided to be there for the premiere, at least to be sure everything was in order, and he would return to the house. With this decision, Bryce continued with his work, waiting for the time to move to the location for the premiere.
At 7 pm, Bryce got ready and left for the location of the premiere. He decided to keep a low-key profile, so he went with only Marcus. After a close to a forty-five minutes drive, he arrived at the location. The place was crowded with people. Bryce looked out the window briefly before closing it back.
"Let's go to the garage. I don't want my presence to be noticed. This place has too much media present," Bryce said, and Marcus acknowledged.
Outside, Susan was standing with Eva when Eva saw Bryce's car.
"I told you he would come. This side of the business is new. There is no way he would leave it in the hands of Britney to handle alone," Eva said, and Susan smiled, knowing it was Devon who had convinced Bryce to come for the premiere.
