Chapter 103 It's Time You Know the Truth
Bryce was back in his home. He took a shower and changed into something more comfortable. He couldn't believe he had just lost his mother in less than 48 hours of burying his sister. The murder weapon used on his sister has been found, and it points to Angela as the one who committed the crime. Investigations are still ongoing, but Angela has been arrested and is now in a holding cell.
Bryce climbed into bed and rested his head on his pillow with his hand folded behind his head. He was still processing what happened at the station with Angela. Why can't he hate her for killing his sister? Angela is gorgeous, no doubt about it, but that wasn't it. He was not lusting after her. There is something about her that makes him want to protect her, aside from the fact that she effortlessly draws his feelings to the surface.
"What did you do to me, Angela?" Bryce questioned. "And what did Elena do to you for you to harm her this way? Did you shoot my mum too?" he whispered on his lips.
Meanwhile, Mr and Mrs Anderson have heard the news of Angela's arrest. They went to the station, but they were not allowed to see her. On the way back home, Mr Anderson decided to make some calls.
"Hello, James, I need your help," Mr Anderson began while Mrs Anderson sat next to her in the co-driver's seat.
"How may I assist you, Mr Anderson?" James's voice filled the car from the car speakers.
"My daughter has been arrested. I know she didn't do it, and I am sure someone is pinning these crimes on her for whatever reason. Please help me find something that I can use to get my daughter out of prison," Mr Anderson said while keeping his eyes on the road.
"Yeah, I heard about your daughter. I will get my men on the job and see what I can find. If she is innocent, we will find something soon," James replied.
"Thank you, old friend," Mr Anderson said and ended the call.
"The evidence points to Angela as the one who committed the crime," Mrs Anderson began, and Mr Anderson interrupted, knowing what she was going to say.
"Woman, you raised this child since she was 13 years old. Are you trying to tell me you don't know what she can and can't do?" Mr Anderson asked.
"I am not saying that. Angela was very bitter and all about taking revenge on those who took her parents' lives. Have you forgotten?" Mrs Anderson reminded.
"When the wounds of her pain were fresh. Has she not changed over the years?" Mr Anderson questioned.
"What if she saw something that made her go back to her revenge idea?" Mrs Anderson asked, and Mr Anderson was about to speak again, but remembered something.
"Wait, what is the name of the person who was recently killed?" Mr Anderson asked.
"Patricia Moore," Mrs Anderson replied.
"Oh God," Mr Anderson said.
"Do you get my concern now?" Mrs Anderson said realizing Mr Anderson was now understanding her point.
"I need to speak with Angela," Mr Anderson said and called James back.
"Hello, James. Sorry to bother you. I am just coming from the station. I went there to see my daughter, but I was not allowed to. Is there a way you can help me speak with my daughter? Is very important," Mr Anderson requested.
"Let me see what I can do. I will call you tomorrow at 9 am with an update on this," James replied, and the call ended after Mr Anderson thanked him.
At Bryce's home, Bryce was still in bed, unable to sleep, when he heard a knock on his door. He checked the time, and it was 11 p.m.
"Who is it?" Bryce asked from the inside of the room.
"Sir, it's me, Josephine. Your father is here," Josephine announced, and Bryce frowned.
"My father?" Bryce repeated and got up from the bed.
He walked to the door and opened it.
"Where is he?" Bryce asked.
"Downstairs in the living room," Josephine replied.
"Okay," Bryce replied and exited the room.
He walked towards the staircase and was soon in the living room.
"Bryce, I have hidden something from you, and it's about time I tell you," Devon said as soon as Bryce entered the living room.
Bryce remembered what his mother said when his father accused Angela of killing Elena, and he frowned.
"What did you do, Dad?" he questioned.
"It's not about me. It's about why I want you to end your relationship with Angela. You already know she is not an Anderson but an Adams, right?" Devon began, and Bryce nodded. "Let's go somewhere more private. What I am going to tell you is very sensitive," he added, and Bryce nodded.
Bryce led the way to his study, and they both sat down to talk.
"Bryce, it's time you know the truth about Angela. She is not who you think she is. There is a reason I believe she killed your sister even before the police came up with their findings. And I also know she killed your mother. Well, she is in prison now, and that will keep you and me safe for a while," Devon said, and Bryce just stared at him, wondering what he was talking about.
"Something happened ten years ago to Angela's birth parents," Devon began, and Bryce listened.
