Yep, she's ovulating
There were many things in life that were possible.
Aliens from Mars might suddenly visit earth tomorrow, world hunger and poverty could be eradicated and world peace could be achieved.
A calm and hardworking Grant however, wasn't one of them.
Or at least that was what Angelina thought at first.
The atmosphere in the office was pretty weird after what happened and Angelina just focused hard in her job in order to avoid anything else. She thought that Grant would cause trouble but he had been busy as once he sat down a bunch of calls came in.
She in the other hand focused on the other things she had been dealing with using it as a way of avoiding thinking about Grant.
However, the occasional red that burst forth from her face told a different tale.
Luckily, it didn’t take long for the designer to arrive taking her mind off it.
Apparently, there had been a plan in the past to create a separate office that served as a front desk where the CEOs personal assistant manned before one could reach Grant's office in the past.
However, a lazy Grant simply waived it saying that there was no need for that since he didn't have one or else the earlier incident wouldn't have happened.
Regardless, a partition would still help and in no time the interior design company had started work. They were probably very good at what they did as it didn't take them long to setup the modular barriers.
An hour later Angelina and Grant were separated by a barrier though Angelina felt like there was nothing there.
In no time she had gone back to her work. After working for sometime though heer stomach suddenly grumbled reminding her that she only had toast and some coffee for breakfast. Glancing at the time she realised that it was coincidentally time for lunch.
“Why hasn't the bell been rung though?"
Wondering to herself she stood up from her desk. Back when she was at the accounting department there was a bell that used to alert everyone of the lunch break.
It was so loud that even those down below could hear it so why hadn't she heard it up here? It couldn’t be that the bell was broken right?
She wasn't a science major but those things were automatic.
“Or is it because this is the executive floor perhaps?"
Suddenly, she thought of something and couldn't help but agree. Since most of the staff situated on the executive wing were managers and top staff it made sense that they and the normal staff dined separately.
Even back in the cafeteria below not everyone went there since some brought their own stuff.
Well she didn't bring any so she was going back there. However, just as she was about to step out of the office she suddenly thought about Grant.
He didn’t look like he had what to eat but then how did that even concern her? She wasn't his wife or girlfriend.
However, the golden ring angel chose this time to appear on her shoulder.
Golden angel: “It's not gonna hurt at all, you're just helping out.”
Red horned little demon: “Hey, don't tell me you're gonna listen to that guy, he's a bad guy, teasing you and infringing in your private space. Also he's dangerous!"
Listening to the two her heart agreed to the second thought more but little Goldie wasn't di e yet as he pulled out the big guns.
Little golden angel: “Yeah, yeah, but remember, you still have to get close to him anyway if you're gonna investigate your father's murder. Plus you're his PA!”
“I…urgh!”
Despite her reluctance she couldn't help but agree with the little golden angel although she wondered if her job description included this.
“Who knows he might even just say no!"
With this in mind she took a deep breath before pressing the intercom.
\[Ping!\]
. \[Sir, I'm heading over to the cafeteria and I'm wondering if you would you like me to grab you something when I'm coming back?\]
For a while there was no reply, just wheñ she thiught she shouldn't have bothered a tired voice suddenly came over.
\[Okay, just a get me what ever you bring along\]
Ugh…that was in unexpected.
Surprised, she stared at the intercom for a while before shrugging as she left the room but not before messaging Gina.
“Look at my baby girl!"
Immediately she stepped out of the elevator a truck barreled over at her. Thankfully, she was especially sensitive to suddenly movements thanks to a certain incident as she smoothly sidestepped.
“Ouch!”
Looking at her assailant a slight chickle couldn't help but escape Angelina's lips. For a moment she forgot all about the morning scenario.
“Why did you run away? Now I'm gonna have a bump on my head. Hey wait for me are you even listening to me at all!"
Glaring at Angelina Gina pouted in annoyance only to realise she was already walking away causing her to chase after her.
“Come here you—”
After a playful scuffle that followed the two till they got to the cafeteria they both settled down on an empty seat.
The others weren't around and when Angelina asked Gina she only shrugged mentioning that she hadn't seen them for a while either.
She made a mental note to check on them when she had time.
As the two discussed various topics Gina finally noticed the extra paper bag on the table.
“What's in this bag?”
Curiously she tried to take it only for Angelina to rush to grab it.
“No touchie!"
"It's for my boss.”
Realising that she might have acted weirdly she quickly added.
“Boss?”
At first Gina was confused but then her eyes suddenly widened as she blurted out.
"Boss as in YOUR BOSS? The one and only Grant?”
"Hey keep it down will you?” Helplessly, Angelina tried to get her friend to keep quiet. She could already see some people glancing over at their table.
“Damn you're fast, quick tell me how you managed to reach this stage.”
Toning down a bit the expression on Gina's face was one of utter disbelief. She liked at Angelina like one would look a monster.
“It's not what you think Gina, I just decided to help him pick something to eat. Heck, I'm not interested in him."
With a straight face she declared, however, inside she wasn't so sure.
" What do you mean you aren't interested in such a piece of fine meat. He's Grant McRae for god's sake! Handsome, charming and rich! Last time I checked Daxter a single unit of our stock is worth over a hundred thousand!”
Staring at Angelina jaw wide open like an extraterrestrial Gina found it hard to believe her friend.
“Well, I'm not moved by those things at all." Harrumphing, Angelina said while taking a split of the orange juice beside her.
“Damn you're weird, if I had a chance and he was interested I would have jumped on him straight away!"
Pfft!!
Spilling the juice in her mouth out Angelina stared at her friend in disbelief.
"For Gods sake you're married Gina!”
"You can't understand."
Looking at the dreamy look in Gina's eyes, there w
as only one conclusion Angelina could arrive at.
Her friend was probably ovulating!
Definitely!
