Chapter 46

BACK IN MOONSHADOW.

As the moon remained high in the night sky, with its silvery glow casting long shadows over Luna's Arena, an unrecognized person who had been watching the match continued to observe the proceedings.

Hidden in the darkest corners of the arena, this mysterious presence watched with an intent that spoke of hidden motives and a carefully crafted agenda.

The figure's identity remained undetected, a shadowy enigma that dodged detection. Their presence hinted at a deeper complexity, a purpose that surpassed the surface of the night's challenges.

However, the spectators who had gathered for the night's events remained ignorant to the silent observer, their attention focused on the celebrations and merriment that came after.

In the aftermath of Steffan's victory in the ring, the lone wolf made his way through the crowds, the echoes of cheers and applause still ringing in his ears.

He knew that his triumph had marked a significant step on his journey, but he couldn't help but feel the weight of the challenges that lay ahead.

As Steffan navigated the winding paths of the arena, he was approached by a fellow werewolf, a member of the Alpha King's pack named Elara.

She was known for her sharp humour and keen instincts, and she had observed Steffan's excellent victory in the ring.

"Hey! Steffan, am I correct? I must say that was an impressive performance out there," Elara remarked with a knowing smile. "The Alpha King was watching, and I am sure that he was pleased with your skills."

Steffan could not hide his sense of pride and gratitude. "Thank you, It means a lot to me. I have trained for this moment for a long time." he gazed at her and asked, "Who are you?"

Elara responded, her voice sharp. "My name is Elara, a member of the Alpha king's pack."

"Ok, Elara."

Elara nodded, her eyes filled with a sense of friendship. "You might have earned your place among the Alpha King's pack earlier than you expected, but there is more to discover here in Moonshadow. The challenges that lie ahead will test your guts in ways you can't even imagine."

As Steffan absorbed her words, his determination burned even brighter. He knew that his journey was far from over, and he was ready to face whatever trials awaited him.

"I am prepared for whatever comes my way. I won't disappoint the Alpha King."

Their conversation was interrupted by the distant sound of a commotion in the arena.

The noise from the crowd had shifted from celebration to confusion, and a tide of tension spread through the onlookers.

Elara's instincts kicked in, and she exchanged a knowing look with Steffan. "I think something is amiss. We should investigate."

Together, they made their way towards the source of the disturbance, threading through the increasingly agitated crowd.

As they drew closer, the cause of the commotion became clear. A group of fighters had been engaged in a heated argument, their voices rising in anger.

The dispute centred around the results of the night's challenges. Accusations and counter-accusations were hurled, and tensions reached a boiling point.

In addition, the atmosphere grew flammable, threatening to explode into violence.

Elara and Steffan stepped in, their authoritative presence quelling the rising conflict.

Steffan skillfully diffused the situation, urging the fighters to resolve their differences through peaceful means.

The crowd's attention shifted from the brawl to the two enforcers of the Alpha King's pack, their respect for authority and order prevailed.

As peace was restored, Elara turned to Steffan, her expression filled with a mixture of concern and suspicion. "I envy you Steffan, you were able to do that. But I sense this was no ordinary disagreement, something feels off."

Steffan couldn't help but agree. The heated dispute had seemed orchestrated, a distraction that had diverted the attention of the crowd and the pack members. "You are right, Elara. It is as if someone wanted to create uninvited chaos."

Their exchange was interrupted by a hushed voice, barely audible amidst the disturbing noise of the arena. "The Alpha King has been summoned."

The vague message sent a shiver down Steffan's spine. The summoning of the Alpha King was a rare occurrence, and it signified a matter of utmost importance.

The unseen adversary who had staged the disruption remained hidden, their motivations and intentions shrouded in mystery.

Elara's voice was tense with anxiety as she whispered to Steffan, "We need to find out who is behind this and what they want. The Alpha King has demanded your presence, he must have seen you settle the dispute."

The unseen adversary's plans left a trail of conspiracy in its wake, while they made their way towards the Alpha King's location.

With the known presence of Elara, Steffan was allowed to move closer, but not too close to where Alpha King sat, when they arrived.

Steffan bent his head slowly and he raised it back, he was not sure of the right words to say to greet the Alpha King.

"Move closer a bit, a man should not be shy before his King." Alpha King's deep voice echoed in the ears of everyone there. His voice alone commands fears in the minds of his people.

Steffan, without thinking twice, took a few steps forward and he repeated the same greeting gesture.

"I came immediately, I learnt you sent it to me." Steffan voiced.

Alpha King hesitated and looked left and right before, and spoke. "Indeed, first, tell me about yourself."

Elara and Steffan exchanged sharp glances. He cleared his throat and said, "I am Steffan, a loyal lone wolf to you."

"Is that all you think I should know?" Alpha King remarked, his voice stern.

"Errmm… I.." Steffan stammered and couldn't find the right words.

"Well, that's enough." Alpha King cut in, "I saw how you restored peace during out there. Those idiots got almost everyone worried, and I will make them beg for their lives by the time I am done with them."

"I am honoured, it was what any other man could have done if I wasn't there." Steffan said, his expression changed.

"But, 'any other man' did not. You did, I hope to see you again after you crush what's ahead you." Alpha King said, sincerity etched in his voice.

For the second time, Steffan and Elara gazed at each other. "I won't disappoint you, Alpha King."

With a bright smile, Alpha King said. "Good, I shall look forward to that. You can leave now."

Steffan bowed his head and left immediately.
