Chapter 175 The Choice of the Heir
Chapter 175 The Choice of the Heir
Kai’s POV
The entire school collapsed around them and Luna and the First Wolf crashed through walls, floors, and steel beams, they were moving too fast to follow completely. Each impact shook Crescent Valley like an earthquake while the Blood Moon burned overhead.
She was transforming fully now. And everybody knew it. It was not just her claws anymore, not partial shifts and not instinct. It was power. Ancient power.
Silver-black energy wrapped around Luna’s body as she slammed the First Wolf through the gymnasium wall hard enough to split the ground outside and the wolves across town felt it instantly.
They stopped fighting for half a second. Listening, waiting, and choosing,.
Dust and smoke rolled through the shattered school corridors while I forced myself upright, blood pouring down my ribs, and every instinct screamed to get to Luna.
Protect her. Anchor her. Stay beside her. The mating bond had become almost unbearable now.
I could feel her emotions through it, I felt rage, fear, confusion, and hunger.
And underneath all of it…
The First Wolf pulling at her constantly. I staggered through the destroyed hallway toward the gym ruins and Selene intercepted me halfway there.
“You can’t rush in blindly.”
I shoved past her. “Move.”
“She’s losing herself.”
That stopped me instantly, because Selene rarely sounded afraid. But now she did.
The ruined ceiling above us trembled violently from another impact somewhere outside.
“She’s fighting instinct and inheritance at the same time,” Selene continued. “Eventually one wins.”
“No.”
“You know I’m right.” she said.,
I hated that she was. Because deep down…I’d already seen it happening.
Every time Luna used the hierarchy, the wolf became more natural to her.
More comfortable and more dominant. And now the Blood Moon amplified everything.
A roar exploded outside. It was not the First Wolf. It was Luna.
The sound froze every wolf in Crescent Valley instantly. Then came the terrifying answer: The wolves obeyed her again and Selene’s face went pale.
“She’s overriding him.”
Hope surged briefly through me. Then Ethan appeared from the smoke ahead of us.
“No,” he said quietly.
“She’s replacing him.”
Silence hit hard and Ethan looked wrecked now. He was bleeding heavily. The ritual markings are now fully visible and his eyes were exhausted. But for the first time in a long while…
He looked like himself again. Not manipulated, he was just terrified.
“The First Wolf doesn’t need to win physically,” Ethan continued. “It only needs Luna to fully inherit the hierarchy.”
Selene crossed her arms tightly. “And if she does?”
Ethan looked toward the ruined gymnasium. “She stops being Luna.”
The words hit like a knife and outside, another explosion shook the school.
I moved instantly. This time neither Selene nor Ethan stopped me. Because we all understood now that, this wasn’t just the final battle anymore.
It was the final choice. I reached the destroyed gym seconds later.
And stopped cold. Luna stood at the center of the cratered floor under the red moonlight pouring through the collapsed roof.
She looked…
God….She looked beautiful and terrifying.
Silver-black markings covered half her body now. Claws fully extended. Eyes glowing molten gold. And surrounding her was dozens of wolves, they knelt.
They were not attacking. They were submitting.
The First Wolf circled her slowly through the wreckage bleeding from several deep wounds now and for the first time in centuries….It looked uncertain.
Luna was becoming stronger too quickly. The hierarchy itself was shifting toward her.
The First Wolf spoke directly into everyone’s minds now.
YOU CANNOT RESIST WHAT YOU ARE.
Luna trembled visibly. “I’m not you.”
YOU ARE WORSE.
The creature’s silver eyes shifted toward me.
HE IS THE ONLY THING HOLDING YOU BACK.
Every wolf in the gym immediately turned toward me. They looked dangerous and predatory. The First Wolf had realized the truth completely.
The mating bond anchored Luna’s humanity.
Which meant if I died…
She would fully belong to the hierarchy. Selene arrived behind me instantly and realized it too. “Kai…”
Too late.
The wolves attacked simultaneously. I shifted immediately, as black fur exploded across my body as I tore into the first wolf midair. The gym became chaos with snarling, blood and claws.,
I ripped through two wolves protecting Luna while Selene fought beside me with brutal precision.
Ethan started chanting something in the old language near the collapsed bleachers, ritual symbols igniting under the floor. But there were too many wolves. Too many.
The hierarchy wanted me dead. Then a silver-eyed wolf lunged from my blind side…. And Luna moved instantly. Faster than anything I had ever seen.
She caught the attacking wolf by the throat one-handed and slammed it into the floor hard enough to crack concrete. Then she froze. Because she’d nearly killed it effortlessly.
The wolf below her whimpered in submission and Luna stared at her own claws shaking. The First Wolf smiled.
YES. FEEL IT.
The wolves surrounding us bowed lower and Luna’s breathing became uneven. The hierarchy pulsed around her visibly now. And suddenly…every wolf in the gym lowered their heads completely. Not to the First Wolf. But to Luna. No one spoke and no one moved. The entire supernatural hierarchy had just chosen its new apex.
The First Wolf slowly stepped closer under the Blood Moon. It was not angry anymore. It was accepting.
WELCOME HOME, HEIR.
And for one horrifying second, Luna almost stepped toward it.
