Chapter 164 The Night Crescent Valley Fell
Chapter 164 The Night Crescent Valley Fell
Luna’s POV
The lockdown started at 7:14 PM.
By 7:20, every road leading out of Crescent Valley was blocked.
Police. Military trucks. Barricades.
Helicopters circled above town while emergency alerts blasted across every phone simultaneously.
STAY INDOORS. CURFEW IN EFFECT. AVOID FOREST CONTACT.
Humans still thought they could control this. That was the terrifying part.
They had no idea the town was already lost. I stood in my bedroom staring out the window as red emergency lights flashed across the streets below.
People were running, shouting and crying.,
The forest had crossed the football field an hour ago. Now trees were growing through roads. Roots cracked sidewalks apart like paper. And every few minutes….Howls echoed through town. Closer each time.
Behind me, Grandma Ashford quietly locked every door in the house.
Not that doors would matter anymore. “You need to leave town,” she said.
I turned sharply. “What?”
Her expression remained calm. Too calm. “The seal is failing faster than expected.”
“You knew this would happen?”
“I feared it would.”
Anger flashed through me instantly. “You keep saying things like that instead of actually explaining anything!”
The lights flickered violently and my wolf reacted immediately under my skin.
It was restless and aggressive. Grandma looked at me carefully.
“You’re changing too quickly now.”
No kidding. My hearing hadn’t stopped sharpening for hours and my claws kept appearing involuntarily. And the moon….God.
The moon felt unbearable tonight. Like it was pulling directly on my blood.
A knock hit the front door suddenly. Three sharp knocks.
Kai.
I knew instantly. Not because I heard him. But because I felt him.
The bond between us pulsed hard the closer he got. Grandma opened the door before I could move and Kai stepped inside breathing heavily.
His shirt was stained with blood. Not his.
My pulse spiked immediately. “What happened?”
His eyes met mine. “Selene moved early.”
Cold spread through my chest. “What does that mean?”
“She started the Blood Moon ritual tonight.”
Silence. Impossible silence. “No,” I whispered. “She can’t.”
“She already did.”
The ground below the house trembled suddenly and outside, distant screams erupted through town and Kai grabbed my arm instantly.
“We have to go.”
“Go where?”
“The seal chamber.”
Grandma stiffened immediately. Absolutely not comforting.
“You know where it is?” I asked sharply.
Kai hesitated. Too long. “You knew this whole time?”
His jaw tightened. “I knew pieces.”
“That’s not an answer!”
“Luna,” Grandma interrupted quietly, “there isn’t time.”
The windows shattered instantly and every light in the house exploded.
I screamed as pressure slammed through my skull violently. Not pain, it was a call.
Something under Crescent Valley was awake now. And it wanted me outside…Every wolf in town howled simultaneously. The sound shook the entire neighborhood and Kai grabbed my shoulders hard.
“Stay with me.”
My breathing turned ragged. The transformation surged instantly and bones cracked painfully under my skin. “No…”
Silver-black claws burst from my hands. Fur spread violently across my arms.
My vision sharpened gold. And this time…It didn’t stop. Grandma’s face paled. “Kai.”
He already knew. “This is too fast.”
I stumbled backward gasping and every instinct screamed at me to run into the forest. To hunt and to answer the call under the town. Kai moved closer carefully. “Luna.”
I barely recognized his voice anymore and everything smelled too strong.
Fear, blood and storm, rain outside. And him, it was always him.
Mine.
The thought slammed through me so hard I growled aloud. Kai froze.
The wolf inside me surged violently toward him. Claiming instinct overwhelming everything else. I grabbed his shirt instinctively.
And the bond exploded. Silver light burst outward from both of us.
The entire house shook and Grandma cursed under her breath.
Then suddenly….
The front wall of the house collapsed inward.
A body crashed through the debris and i saw Ethan bleeding.
Holding the black ritual blade. Kai immediately stepped in front of me with a snarl. “What did you do?”
Ethan looked wrecked. Rain soaked through his clothes and dark symbols spread below his skin now. Wrong symbols. It was ancient and moving.
“They opened it,” he said hoarsely.
My stomach dropped. “Who opened what?”
Before Ethan could answer….
Selene walked through the broken wall behind him. Perfectly calm and perfectly dry despite the storm. Her silver eyes landed on me instantly.
And smiled. “The seal.”
The house trembled violently again. Then deeper below town…Something cracked.
Not metaphorically, it actually cracked. A sound like mountains splitting echoed through Crescent Valley and every wolf howl stopped instantly.
The silence afterward was worse. Kai’s face changed. There was real fear.
“The chamber…”
Selene stepped fully inside. “It’s over,” she said softly.
Then she looked directly at me. “The seal has permanently broken.”
The words hit like ice water. “No.”
But deep down….
I already knew she was telling the truth. Because I could feel it now.
The thing below Crescent Valley was ancient, massive and awake. ,And somehow connected to me. Outside, chaos erupted completely.
Cars crashed and people screamed. The forest surged violently through the streets like a living creature. And across town, humans began changing.
Moon-sick victims collapsing. Are eyes glowing and violence erupting? The supernatural world wasn’t hidden anymore. It had spilled directly into reality.
Ethan stepped forward desperately. “Luna, listen to me…I can still stop this.”
Kai snarled instantly. “You’ve done enough.”
Ethan’s expression twisted painfully. “I did this for her!”
“No,” Selene interrupted calmly. Then she looked at Ethan with almost pity. “You did this for yourself.”
Ethan froze and Selene turned toward me again. “The awakening has begun.”
My breathing became uneven. “What am I?”
For the first time….Selene answered honestly. “The first true heir in centuries.”
Lightning exploded across the sky outside. And suddenly….Every instinct inside me snapped loose completely. The partial transformation surged hard and my spine arched painfully. Silver-black fur spread across my shoulders and my teeth sharpened fully.
Golden eyes reflected in the broken glass around the room and Grandma looked horrified. Ethan looked devastated and Kai looked ready to kill anyone who touched me. And Selene…Selene looked victorious. Because this moment changed everything permanently. There was no hiding anymore.
No going back to school drama. No returning to ordinary life. No pretending Crescent Valley was normal. The seal was broken and the wolves were exposed.
And I was transforming in front of everyone.
