Chapter XX
The vampire prince sat alone in his chamber, his beloved late father's crown atop his head. Though his throne room was empty, the prince felt the presence of all his ancestors around him, their voices whispering in his ear. He was the last of the royal line, the only one left to carry the burden of protecting his kingdom and people.
The kingdom Ardentia.
As he looked out from the tallest window of the castle, he could see the enemies gathering, their combined forces threatening to overpower his father's dwindling army. The prince knew that it was now his duty to protect the kingdom, and he was determined to do so at any cost.
He thought of his beloved father, whose last wish was for the prince to find Prince Alexander and kill him. But the prince had no desire to be a king.
He wanted only to be free to roam the night, to live in peace and solitude with the woman he loved. But that was before his father was killed.
He could not escape his destiny, and so he resigned himself to his fate.
The prince thought of his beloved, the woman he had yet to meet but whom he felt he could feel in his soul.
He had heard tales of others finding their beloved, and of the intense connection that followed. But the prince had never considered that such a union might be possible for him.
With a sigh, the prince rose from his seat and began to pace the room, trying to find peace in his thoughts. He knew that if he was to protect his people, he must find an heir to the throne and a woman to share his life and love. But how could he find such a woman when he knew not even her name?
Most importantly, he must avenge the king death. Prince Eric wanted to make King Adolphus proud.
He thought of the stories his father had told him, of how his ancestors had found their beloved.
Eric knew that the only way he could find his own beloved was to go on a quest.
He had heard tales of a mysterious kingdom far away called Sylvania, where a woman of great beauty and power awaited her prince.
He had also heard tales of a witch who could direct him to his beloved, if he could only find her.
Eric decided that this was his path. He would journey to the mysterious kingdom and find his beloved. He knew it was a dangerous quest, but he had made his decision.
He had pledged to protect the kingdom, and now he must protect his heart as well.
Eric summoned his most trusted vampire friend, Leo and asked him to prepare a small group to accompany him on his quest.
He gathered supplies and provisions and readied himself for the journey.
On the morning of his departure, he looked out from the castle walls and said a silent prayer that he would be successful in his mission and that he would find the woman of his dreams.
Eric and his knights rode through the night, the stars shining brightly above them.
After days of searching, they arrived at the mysterious kingdom of his ancestors.
The prince and his knights entered the kingdom, and immediately the prince felt a strange connection with the place. He looked around, his eyes searching for his beloved, but there was no sign of her. He searched the palace and the kingdom beyond, but still there was no trace of her.
The prince was about to give up his search when he stumbled upon an old witch.
He asked her if she could help him find his beloved, and the witch smiled knowingly. She told him that his beloved was indeed in the kingdom, and that she was waiting for him.
She gave the prince a special potion, made from the petals of a rare flower, and instructed him to drink it.
"Within 30 days, you will have your beloved", the witch said.
The prince drank the potion, and as he did, he felt a strange energy coursing through his veins. He knew that his quest was not over yet, and that he must continue searching for her.
Days passed, he spent his time exploring the kingdom, getting to know its people and customs.
He also spent time with his knights, training for the battles that awaited him upon his return to his own kingdom.
But as the days went by, the prince began to feel restless. His heart was yearning for his beloved, and he knew that he must find her soon. He sought out the witch once more, hoping for some guidance.
"Patience, my prince," the witch said, her voice soothing.
"Your beloved is closer than you think. But you must be careful, for there are those who would seek to harm her."
Eric nodded, his mind racing with thoughts of who could pose a threat to his beloved. He could not bear the thought of her being in danger, and so he vowed to protect her with his life.
