Chapter XII

Alexander looked at Issac with a mixture of sadness and frustration in his eyes. He took a deep breath and said, "Lily was my mate, or so I thought. But things changed, Issac, and I couldn't ignore it any longer."

Issac's gaze pierced into Alexander, searching desperately for the truth. He placed a heavy hand on his friend's shoulder and growled through gritted teeth, "What changed, my brother?"

The fact that Lily has a boyfriend struck a blow to Alexander's chest like a thunderbolt. His passion boiled inside him and he wanted nothing more than to declare her as his mate, yet he had to restrain himself. As much as it pained him, he needed to accept that she was human and would never understand their bond. Meanwhile, his duty as future King loomed above him like an impenetrable wall; he knew he couldn't forget the woman he was already betrothed to.

Alexander felt the weight of the world on his shoulders, and he knew that his decision would affect not only his future but also the well-being of his pack. He looked at Issac, who had been his closest friend since childhood, and felt a pang of guilt. He had kept his true feelings hidden for too long, and he knew that it was time to face the consequences of his actions.

"I cannot deny what I feel, Issac," Alexander said, his voice heavy with emotion. "But I also cannot ignore my responsibilities as the future Alpha. My pack needs me, and I cannot let them down."

Issac's expression softened, and he sighed heavily. "I understand, my brother," he said. "But what about Lily? What will you do about her?"

Alexander took a deep breath, steeling himself for what was to come. "I will honor my betrothal," he said firmly. "But as for Lily, I will have to let her go.

Attempting to switch the conversation, Issac questioned Alexander about their plan for discovering the individual responsible for the assaults in the Kingdom of Eldoria.

Being the hybrid commander that he was, Alexander had already taken another step by sending more werewolves to guard his mother and father; even though his dad was still technically Alpha King of the realm, Alexander held authority over the military.

Their conversation was cut short, as if on cue, the woman returned to their table with a mischievous smile. A knowing smile - one that hinted at secret desires and hidden fantasies. "You want to dance?"she asked.

The smoky, dimly lit club, the air was alive with sultry melodies and whispered conversations. Amidst the crowd of swaying bodies. Alexander finish sipping the whiskey neat before joining her on the floor.

As he getting up from the table, Isaac nodded sympathetically, understanding dawning on his face. "I get it, man. Sometimes we all need an escape from reality." He glanced at the woman again before chuckling softly. "But don't forget about Lily completely."

With a wry smile and a twinkle in his eye, Alexander turned to Isaac one last time before disappearing into the embrace of mystery lady of the hour.

"Ah, my dear Isaac," he chuckled, "sometimes even the wildest distractions lead us back to where our hearts truly belong."

The smoky, dimly lit club, the air filled with beautiful, sultry melodies.

The trumpet and piano fed off one another until their dreams warbled into earth-bound realities.

The couples on the dance floor swayed in time to the music, forgetting their troubles as they gave themselves up to its rhythm and soulful melody.

Alexander, all lean muscle and dark hair, finished his whiskey neat before returning his attention back to her. He slipped an arm around her waist and pulled her close.

She was a vision of beauty with her long, curly hair cascading down her back, and her body curving in all the right places.

Alexander couldn't help but admire her as they swayed to the music. Her eyes were closed, lost in the moment, and Alexander wondered what it would be like to have her as his own. He pushed the thought aside, knowing that it was impossible.

As the song ended, Alexander led her back to their table, where Issac and Alexander's body guards were waiting for them.

They sat down and ordered another round of drinks, laughing and chatting as if they didn't have a care in the world. But underneath the facade, Alexander's mind was racing.

He couldn't stop thinking about Lily, and the more he tried to push her out of his mind, the stronger his desire grew.

He excused himself from the table and made his way to the bar, hoping that a stiff drink would calm his nerves.

As he waited for the bartender to pour another whiskey neat the mystery woman asked him if he would like to leave and go somewhere quiet. There was no hesitation; he finished the drink and paid his bill before leaving out with the mystery woman, finally learning her name as Mia.

They went back to his apartment, he didn't stay on campus because of the many issues this would cause.

As they walked through the door, Alexander couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. Mia was breathtakingly beautiful, and he couldn't wait to explore every inch of her body. He took her hand and led her to the bedroom, where he began to undress her with a sense of urgency.

Their lips met in a fiery kiss, and Alexander felt the passion between them ignite. He ran his hands down her body, feeling every curve and contour as she moaned in pleasure. They moved together with a sense of urgency, as if they had been waiting for this moment their entire lives.

As they lay together, Alexander couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt. He knew that he was betrothed to another woman, yet he couldn't deny the desire he felt for Mia. He tried to push the thought aside, focusing on the pleasure of the moment.

As they lay together, Alexander's mind began to wander back to Lily.

He tried to push the thought aside, knowing that it was impossible for him to be with her. He felt conflicting emotions fighting for dominance within him, and he knew that his path was a difficult one to tread.

But, for a moment, he was lost in the beauty that was Mia.
