Libby knew that the girl called James "Uncle James", but the two of them were not related by blood.
Although she was still so young, she would become an adult in three months. They could become a couple.
"Libby, go upstairs with Kara and help her take a bath."
James gave his stern order.
Libby nodded blankly, feeling that her conjecture had been proved right.
Mr. James was cold to other people, and he didn't bother to say even a few more words to them most of the time. However, he was not only gentle but also considerate to the girl.
...
James returned to his room, took a shower, and changed his clothes. As he was tying his necktie in front of the mirror, he remembered the girl's pale face. He called Will out of worry and asked him to come over and take a look.
When he went downstairs for breakfast and saw the western-style food on the table, he frowned.
"Libby, Kara suffers from poor digestion. Cook Chinese food in the morning from now on."
Libby was very surprised. She had worked for Mr. James for several years and had always prepared western-style food in the morning. Seeing how considerate he was to the girl, she told herself in her heart that she must treat Kara with even more care in the future.
Kara woke up hungry. She got out of bed and looked at the time. Her mouth twitched as she found that it was already in the afternoon.
She went downstairs after washing up. She swallowed down her saliva as she smelled the delicious food and ran into the kitchen happily.
"Libby, what are you cooking for breakfast? It smells so good."
"Mr. James told me to make some porridge for you. I've also made some chicken soup."
When Kara heard that it was Uncle James' order, she smiled sweetly as her heart warmed up.
Libby brought the porridge out. Looking at the smile on Kara's face, she couldn't help but sigh, "Miss Kara, Mr. James has really been very nice to you."
"That's true."
Kara nodded. Ever since her parents passed away, no one had been so considerate to her. They all treated her as if she was an invalid that was going to die at any moment.
She noted down how kind Uncle James was to her in her heart, and she decided that she would also find a way to repay him in the future.
When Libby was preparing dinner, Kara helped her in the kitchen. Although she couldn't cook a whole meal for Uncle James, she still wanted to help.
In the President's Office of the SA Group, James glanced at the time and got ready for getting off work.
Nolan went inside to inform him that Kathleen had come. She came to have dinner with him after work.
When James heard that Kathleen had come, he glanced at Nolan impatiently.
"Tell her to get out!"
Nolan shivered with fear.
"But Mr. James, she said it's Madam Hemming that told her to come here."
James sneered, "Using Grandma's name to threaten me? Is there something wrong with that woman? Or is there also something wrong with you?"
Nolan lowered his head and didn't dare to speak anything. Madam Hemming had used all sorts of methods these years to urge Mr. James to get married. This time, she forced Mr. James to agree to the engagement by using her worsened health as an excuse.
But Mr. James had absolutely no interest in those women!
When James went to the tea room and saw Kathleen who pretended to be elegant, there was nothing but disgust in his eyes.
Kathleen was having coffee when she heard his footsteps. She knew it was Mr. James, her heart beating wildly.
When the sound of footsteps stopped behind her, she put on her most beautiful smile and turned her head slowly to look up at the man's suffocatingly handsome face. She took a deep breath to keep herself from drooling over his face.
"Mr. James, your Grandma has asked me to bring you dinner."
"What is it?"
James had no patience with her and didn't even bother to sit down.
Thinking of the dinner today, Kathleen blushed and introduced the dishes shyly, "Stir-fried shrimps with Chinese chives, stir-fried beef with onions, sea cucumber soup with agaric, and a cold dish."
When Nolan, who was standing behind James, heard the names of those dishes, his mouth twitched. Good lord, every one of them was to increase his sex drive..
Mr. James was not officially engaged to her yet, but she had already begun to doubt his capacity in bed. Wasn't she afraid that Mr. James would throw her out?
Nolan peeked at Mr. James who was tall and handsome. As far as he knew, Mr. James had never played around with women, and there had never been women by his side. Didn't he ever have needs in that regard?
Or was there really something wrong with his...
James glanced coldly at Kathleen. Then he looked at Nolan.
"Nolan, watch Miss Kathleen. She should finish the food. I've got things to do. I'm leaving now."
