Chapter 93
My eyes widened, as much as they could. “N-no. D-don’t c-come…down…Enzo…”
Two heads popped around the corner of the wall. Cecilia and Gia saw me and gasped. I shook my head as they opened up the cell I was in.
“You…two…need to go. Now.”
“Bianca is keeping watch. Enzo and Dad are gone. You can get out.”
Cecilia pulled out a bolt cutter from under her pink daisy dress. I opened my mouth but the two of them shushed me. Going around, it took both of them to cut the chains that were holding me to the chair. Taking the cutters from them, I cut the chains at my ankles.
“Who put you up to this?” My throat was raw and ever word took time to get out.
“Wizard. He messaged us. Said he’d reward us if we got you out.”
I rolled my eyes and shook my head. “Next time, say no. It’s too dangerous. If you got caught, you’d be killed.”
Gia shook her head. “I’m already engaged to Sir Kirkland and Cecilia is engaged to Mr. Lorenzo. We are already spoken for. Cecilia even managed to get Mr. Lorenzo to agree to have his son be engaged to Bianca. So we can’t be touched.”
Shaking my head, I pulled the two of them into a hug. “I’m sorry I couldn’t take you with me. I wish…I wish I had the strength to do it…”
“It’s okay. Is the…the man you’re married to nice?” Gia held up my hand, my wedding ring still on my finger.
I was surprised Enzo hadn’t just chopped off my whole finger. Or my hand, for that matter. Every time he mentioned Marek it was like he was going to murder anyone and everything. Maybe he just hadn’t noticed it. It was completely covered in blood now. I’d need to take it to a jeweler now to get it cleaned.
“He’s wonderful.” I smiled but coughed a couple times, blood splattering on my shredded shirt.
“Do you love him? Does he love you? Do you guys, you know…kiss?”
Nodding my head, I rubbed Cecilia’s head. “I do. He does. And we do.”
They both squealed, jumping up and down.
“Come on. I don’t want you to get caught.” I tried to get up but I nearly crumpled to the floor, only catching myself on the arms of the chair. “Shit.”
My muscles were weak and it was highly possible that Enzo cut too deep and severed a muscle. Kamilia was going to have fucking cow. If I could get to her. Cecilia and Gia got on either side of me and helped me limp out of the cell. The stairs would be hell but I grit my teeth and did my best to not put all my weight on my little sisters. We took too much time going up but Bianca peaked her head into the doorway just as we opened it.
“Good! It’s clear. There is a car outside waiting.”
My brow furrowed. “How is there are car outside?”
“One of the guys is doing a delivery. So we put you in the trunk, then when he gets to his destination, you get out.” Bianca looked so proud of herself. “We just need to get you into the trunk first.”
I nodded and let my little sisters lead the way. It was a risk but I figured that Wizard had their back. Looking up at the security cameras, I nodded to them as we slowly made our way down the stairs. Surprisingly, the main hall was empty.
“W-where is everyone?” I coughed but managed to get the sentence out.
“The Bara-whats-it mafia is raising hell. Taking out every single one of father’s locations. So it’s all hands. He has everyone watching the perimeter and not the house itself.”
Chuckling, I would need to refer to them as the Bara bratva from now out. It was too funny. Still, I hoped they had found Marek already. Sighing, it had been too much to expect that there wouldn’t be a war between our families. Enzo was stupid. If it had just been me, Marek might have raised hell on his own but Juri would have been able to decide to not let it be a bratva problem. However, the moment Enzo took Marek, it became a family issue.
“Here!”
I looked up at the sun shinning outside and it felt so off. At the very least it should have been at night or raining. Bianca popped open the trunk and the other two helped me into it. Reaching out, I brushed each one of their cheeks.
“Thank you, all three of you. I’m sorry.”
Gia shook her head. “We do owe you, for protecting us for so long. We know what happened to you and the other big sisters. You made it safe for us for a long time.”
My heart broke. “You didn’t deserve it. None of us did.” Taking a breath, I nodded to them. “Take showers, change your clothes. Throw those into the incinerator. Don’t leave even a trace of you. Bolt cutters need to be put back exactly. Don’t let them know. Wizard will take care of the cameras and everything else. Understood?”
They all nodded. “Yes.”
All of our heads moved when there was a door shutting in the distances.
“Go! Go back.” I grabbed the trunk. “Thank you. I love you. Be safe. If I can, I’ll try to reach out.”
Cecelia shook her head. “Don’t. You’ll only get in more trouble.”
“We love you too, Rosaria.” Bianca gave me a little wave.
“Thank you. For all that you did for us.” Gia blew me a kiss.
Shutting the trunk, I was engulfed in darkness. It wasn’t bad though. I’d been in more confined spaces than this. Newer cars valued a spacious trunk and it had to be a smaller package that wouldn’t need to be put in the trunk for this to work. Again, I had to trust Wizard that it was the case. I wouldn’t be able to get away from here. If I got caught now, I’d just have to kill myself.
The car moved slightly as a door was opened and then shut. It started up and I closed my eyes, trying to slow my heartbeat. Then, it was listening as the car drove down the driveway. The next hurdle would be the entrance. Most of the time they checked the car and the trunk but if our father wasn’t here, they might not.
As we came to the end of the driveway, where the gate was, I could hear talking but not what they were saying. I held my breath. It would have been nice if there was a blanket back here to cover myself but it was completely empty. They continued to talk and I heard a door open and then shut.
Then, suddenly, there were a couple of taps on the roof before the car started to move again. My eyes flung open, relief and frankly, shock filled me. I knew they were probably worried about getting attacked, not people leaving but for this to be the one time they didn’t check. It was…too good to be true. I didn’t get this lucky. There was no way.
Still, the car continued to drive. I listened to it, wondering where the delivery was going to go. If it was small, it might be paperwork but it was most-likely on Bernardi territory. Either that or the Spaniards. I’d need to be able to get out and get a ride…somewhere. My current state would turn heads though. I would stand out and that wouldn’t be good. Not in enemy territory.
I didn’t have time to think anymore as the car came to a full stop and shut off. The door opened and shut, leaving me in silence for the first time. In my head I counted. One-one thousand, two-one thousand, three-one thousand...until I reached fifty. Scooting forward, I reached out and grabbed the emergency trunk opener. One nice thing about new cars is that all of them had something like this.
The trunk popped open and I looked around. We were in the city, specifically in a parking structure. Climbing out of the trunk, I fell to the ground. My hands touching the concrete textured floor made me smile. I was out. I was actually out. Laughing, I shook my head.
“This…this is so fucking stupid…”
Tears filled my eyes as I laughed. Taking a deep breath, I pushed up and used the bumper to stand up. Shutting the trunk, I looked out at the small slit that I could see. We were on the south side, that I knew just by the high rises that were close. I didn’t know exactly where though. Still, I couldn’t stay here. I needed to move.
Step by painful step, I moved further into the parking structure. There was the stairs near the edge but that wouldn’t do me much good. I needed a camera. I needed something that Wizard would be able to see me. He probably was tracking the car and knew exactly where I was. Hopefully, he would send someone to pick me up. It just couldn’t be at the same car with one of my father’s men.
I made it to the far end of the floor, and looked out over the view. Sure enough, there were cameras on the corner, taking in the elevators. Sighing, I rested my back against the concrete wall, partially covered by the car that was parked there. If this kept up, I’d leave a puddle of blood where I was sitting. My legs hurt. My arms hurt. My head hurt. Everything was sore. I was bleeding in too many places to name.
When was the last time I slept? I’d been knocked out but that never lasted long. I’d been slapped or nearly drowned awake. My body felt heavy but I couldn’t help but smile. It was the same as before. Enzo wouldn’t have the satisfaction of keeping me. Father wouldn’t have the satisfaction of killing me. Fuck them all. They could turn in hell right along with me.
If anything, I’d ask the devil if I could torture them myself. Do some work for the devil himself. I’d already sold my soul. Sent others to him. Or would that bring me too much joy? That wouldn’t be torment. Not for me. You’d find me cackling along with the rest of the demons. Watching my father and brother break over and over again.
