Chapter 123 Àlvaro's Pov.
I looked at my gun, my lips curling into a smirk before setting it aside. He's such an idiot. “You think after all you've done I'd grant you a quick painless death? No.” I shook my head, pulling out a knife and his eyes froze. “I want you to suffer, just like Camilla suffered because of you.”
I grabbed him by the collar, lifting his almost lifeless body off the ground, trapping it to the fence which is the only thing saving him from falling down where our men are killing each other because of his shitty decisions.
I held him by the neck, my body trembling from all the malice and hatred I felt towards him. I want to snap his neck and end him but just like Sergei, he doesn't deserve the easy way out.
“Don't do it, Àlvaro.” Vincenzo spat through blood, his ugly face pleading with me. “No matter what, we're still family. Don't put a woman in front of your family.”
I punched him again, knocking out another tooth, just because he dared to bring her into this.
“She's not just some random woman. She's my family.” I said, my breathing is so rapid and my heart was beating hard against my chest. “And you're nothing. You've always been nothing.”
I didn't even give him the privilege of saying his last words. He's done enough damage to this world. I slashed his throat from side to side, hearing him drown in his own blood that splattered everywhere.
I kicked his body off the fence to a certain death.
As soon as his body hit the ground, the bullets stopped and the building fell silent. When I looked down, everyone was staring at me.
My eyes found my uncle's lifeless body lying in a pool of his own blood but I didn't feel an ounce of guilt. On the contrary, I felt relief. He deserved this. He deserved to die by my hand.
I held my head high, putting my hands on the fence before speaking to his men. “With the death of Vincenzo Castillo, mastermind behind this purge, I put an end to this insidious war, leading only to blood and death.”
I can see all these eyes fixed on me, moving their gazes between me and my uncle's dead body lying on the ground. “You can continue to support my late uncle but I guarantee you that you'll only end up like him.” I pointed with the bloody knife down at his lifeless body stained with his blood to send a more certain message. “You can join me and live in peace or you can due by my hands. The choice is yours.”
The space stayed silent for a minute, men looking between each other as if considering my words. Men whom my uncle once used as a shield to save his own life but I'm not my uncle.
It wasn't long before they started throwing their guns to the ground as a sign of surrender.
One by one, they threw their pistols to the ground and I took in a much needed breath without even knowing that I had been holding it until now. If Camilla could see me now, she would be so fucking proud of me. I'm solving things not with violence and death this time but with diplomatic negotiations.
I went down the stairs, throwing the bloodied knife on the way, blending in with the men in the building who made way for me to work as if I'm their king. I looked at all the dead bodies lying on the ground and clenched my jaw.
But one of the dead bodies caught my attention. It was the body of a man lying on his back with a bullet in his chest, his eyes open and his hair scattered over his pale face. Anthonio.
I clenched my jaw so tightly, not realizing that I was holding my hands into fists as I kneeled next to my friend. I held his hand, his skin cold and pale, long gone from this world.
I hit the ground hard, right next to his body, letting the anger take over me. I knew this won't bring Anthonio back but his death was mu uncle's fault. He brainwashed him. He turned him into another of his puppets and he paid with his life.
I sighed, closing his eyes, letting his body rest in peace. “I'm sorry it had to end this way.” I whispered over him. “I'm so fucking sorry.”
I stood up to look at my soldiers. “Burn the whole place down.” I barely had the strength to say these words before I caught my breath. “I have one last thing to do before this ends.”
Leonardo Torres. He's next on my list.
He managed to escape but not for long.
I'm coming for you, Leonardo.
Camilla’s Pov.
When I opened my eyes, my vision was blurry but I quickly realized that I was in an unfamiliar small room and panic enveloped my body as I got up quickly from the bed.
My gaze landed on the two men guarding the door who immediately jumped towards me as soon as they saw me conscious.
“Is everything alright, miss?”
“Do you need anything, miss?”
“You need to rest.”
I could hear them talking but I couldn't assimilate their words. Memories flooded my mind from the last thing I remembered when I was conscious.
Àlvaro. My dad. His uncle. Anthonio. Guns. Blood, lots of blood.
Oh my God.
My heart started pounding faster against my chest.
“Where's Àlvaro?” I asked in utter paranoia, looking from one man to the other, only seeing their eyes through the black masks they wore. They looked at each other before looking back at me. “Is he okay?”
“You need to rest, miss.” One of them repeated, trying to touch my arm but I pushed it away roughly.
“Don't tell me what the fuck to do! I asked you a question.” I shouted. My whole body trembled as my mind thought of the worst scenario. “Is Àlvaro okay?”
The two men looked at each other again before answering me. “We don't know, miss. We only know that there are not many survivors.”
It was as if someone punched me in the face. I couldn't think. I couldn't breathe. God, this can't be happening.
“Let me go.” I ordered, my voice panicked. “I have to find him.” I tried to reach the door but my path was blocked by their muscular bodies.
“I'm afraid we can't allow that, miss.” One of them replied with an even tone.
My blood boiled, heating up instantly. My heart dropped down to my feet as my body shook uncontrollably. I started breathing faster, imagining the worst case scenario. I closed my eyes and I saw Àlvaro saying that everything would be okay but when I opened them, he wasn't here. He was fucking gone.
No!
He can't leave me. He won't do it, right? He'll fight for me, for us, for our child, right? He promised me that everything would be fine.
I touched my stomach, feeling as if someone just kicked me. Suddenly, I felt warm and my legs gave out and I fell to the ground. I couldn't breathe. I couldn't hear. Nothing. I felt only pain.
“Miss? Miss, are you alright?” Their voices were muffled as they tried to lift me to my feet but with no success.
I held my stomach again, feeling my vision starting to blur. I tried to keep my eyes open but I just couldn't. My body hurt. Everything hurt.
The last thing I saw before I passed out was someone bursting through the door and with my last strength, I focused my vision on Leonardo before the darkness consumed me and I could no longer feel pain.
