Fifty three- Eyes of the Forbidden

Fifty three- Eyes of the Forbidden
Aria's POV

I paced forth and back in front of Meredith's office waiting for her to be done with whoever she was with. She has always been the one who took it upon herself to keep me out of the Howl games and now somehow someone still found a way to get me on it.

The dizziness had gone down to a bearable extent all thanks to Isla, I couldn’t feel her in my mind but I could feel her trying to keep my body moving and that is enough for me now. It must already be taking a toll on her.

Meredith’s office door creaked open and a girl walked out immediately clashing eyes with me. I don’t know what but something drew me to her, she isn’t a usual face maybe a new student. She looked different too, her hair an unusual shade of blue and her sense totally gave off something dark yet alluring. She sized me snickering under her breath before turning to leave but just before she could turn completely I saw the change in her eyes. I gasped in shock, unable to hold myself, they flashed a color only known to belong to witches, Obsidian black with starflecks. But…but it can’t be…witches aren’t allowed in the Bloodmoon pack.

“What is it? Is there something on my face?” She spat, snapping me out of my thoughts. Her eyes were now back to normal almost like it never even happened. She kept her expression neutral, making me doubt myself even more. I may be a lot of things but not blind.

“Your eyes” I whispered, not holding back. I was expecting a flicker of fear on her face considering she just got caught but there was another expression on her face other than boredom which threw me off guard. I am good at reading people all thanks to Dad and something tells me she knows what I am talking about.

“You can keep acting lost or you can go in” She dismissed walking away before I could ask her anything else.

Maybe I am seeing things due to hunger ...I took a deep breath before knocking on Meredith’s door a part of me still drawn to what just happened. Why do I feel like there is more to this?

“Come in, Aria” Meredith instructed when I pushed the door open but didn’t walk in.

Her head was buried in the stack of papers on her desk but I knew she was very much aware of her surroundings.
“Sit, Aria” She spoke up again probably irritated with my behavior but she can’t blame me. I was taught to only do things when asked.

I let my eyes wander around the room trying to district my mind from the thoughts in it, Meredith always changes the design of her office every office, it is like she is allergic to the seeing the same things everytime and i totally understand but we are at very different places in our life, she gets to do it whenever she wants and well there is me and my little bland square at home.

“What is bothering you. Aria? I can sense something is wrong, is Kael giving you a tough time?” She finally asked, looking up from her work to look at me. Every part of me wanted to scream Yes but that isn’t why I am here and what can she do to the Alpha heir anyway?

“No Kael is fine, it is about the Howl Games” I answered going straight to the point.

“The Howl Games?” She repeated taken aback.

Trust me Dr.Meredith I am as shocked as you are that these brought me here.

“Yes the howl games, someone signed me up for it” I breathed out. Meredith barely shows emotion but the shock on her face right now was beyond evident.
“Aria, what do you mean by someone signed you up for it?” She asked dropping the pen in her hands and putting her hands in front of her all attention on me, if I didn’t have her full attention before I sure as hell have it now.

“I don’t know Dr.Meredith but I walked into the academy this morning and heard lots of commotion and I hurriedly went to check what the issue was and I saw my name as the number one challenger. You know I can never do such a thing, I have stayed away from those games since I became a student here I can’t start now” I answered omitting the whole incident with Marissa, I am not ready to add that to my plate right now.

“This is a serious offense against you, the school rules, and the pack too, Whoever did this has to be expelled no matter what” Meredith stated grabbing her phone from her desk. I hid my shock at her words as my brain went over it…expulsion? That wasn’t what I was thinking at all.

“Verya, we need to talk now,” Meredith said to Principal Verya who was on the other end of the call which made me wonder why she didn’t just mind like her.

“Aria” She called as she dropped her phone, scanning her table like she was looking for something.

“Yes”

She picked up a piece of paper and the pen she was holding earlier pushing them towards me, “ I need you to write out the names of everyone you think would have done something like this” She instructed her voice serious….but that’s going to be a big problem because the list is so long I doubt this paper will fill it and something tells me this isn’t Mariis a or her brats handwork which makes it even scarier.

“Uhm…” I stuttered not knowing how to tell him the list is long.

“But before then…” She cut me off, “ Who were you signed up to fight with?”
That is another problem.

“Marissa, Gamma Daniel’s Daughter” I answered, casting my eyes down at the weight of everything.

“Shit Aria” Meredith cursed, worsening my fear…Meredith never curses ever.

“I know,” I sighed, tears already filling my eyes.

“You know the rules, Aria. It will almost be impossible to get you out of this one” She sounded just as pained as I did and I knew things were beyond bad.

One of the oldest and most respected rules of the Howl Games is the Lupine Codex. ‘Whoever challenges any of the top three must go through with it no matter what…only death can save such a person’. I am so screwed.
