Chapter 86 God sent
The next day, Aurora woke up to a bouquet of flowers on her window. She creased her brows and dragged her feet to the window, cleaning her sleepy eyes with her finger.
She reached for the flowers and carried it. She sniffed it in and let out a deep breath. It smelled fresh and lovely.
In the flowers was a card. She picked the card and opened it. It read;
“Good morning, beautiful. I hope the bright sunshine brightens up your mood today. I’ve prepared breakfast for you. You’ll see me at the right as soon as you step out of your door. Alec.”
With a faint smile, she peeped out of the window and saw a large table and two chairs on the sand. The table was filled with different dishes, and the sight of them alone made her stomach grumble.
She walked back to the bed and placed the flowers on the bed. She picked her phone and turned it on for the first time since she had switched it off.
She sat on the bed and stared at her phone, waiting for it to finish loading. As soon as her phone was on and the WiFi was connected, messages from almost all apps on her phone began to rush in.
Her phone vibrated non-stop for minutes in her hand, and while she closely watched the topic of discussion on these apps, she realized it was her wedding.
After the messages stopped popping in, she clicked on her twitter and opened it. The first thing she saw was the video from the wedding, and this particular one was from the moment she slapped Anita.
Watching the video and seeing Anita’s face made Aurora even more furious. Without thinking, she closed the app and deleted it from her phone.
“I can’t keep wallowing in my sadness.” She said to herself. She rushed into the bathroom to freshen up, so she could join Alec for breakfast.
After she finished, she walked to where the table was and saw that Alec had stepped aside for a call. She sat on the chair and admired the tantalizing meals, waiting for him to return.
“…Have you seen the posts on Twitter?! They are the funniest tweets ever! I can’t stop laughing.” Anita uttered amidst laughter, while she was on the phone with Alec.
Alec remained silent as he listened to her with his eyes fixed on the ocean.
“Can you hear me?” Anita asked as she didn’t hear a thing from the other end.
“Yeah.” Alec answered, tucking his hand in his pocket.
“Why are you not saying anything? Is she there with you?” She further asked.
“No. Why?”
“Well, you’ve been acting so cold since yesterday. You refused to reply to my message, and even though you told me you were busy, I still feel like something is up. Are you going to tell me about it or what?”
“Nothing is up. Your plan worked. Hurray! You shouldn’t worry about me.” He uttered sarcastically.
“Wait… hold on. Is this because I said we’d part ways after our plan is finalized? You’re mad at me because I don’t have feelings for you and you’d miss me so much, right?” She answered, causing Alec to roll his eyes.
“I wish.”
“Okay, let me say this. I don’t think I’m in love with Arthur anymore. After yesterday, I realized I prefer ruining his relationship with Aurora than being with him…”
“You’re pregnant! This isn’t some game. You have child in you:”
“Oh please, I’d be removing the thing in a few days time. You really thought I was going to keep it? My plan was to ruin his relationship with Aurora and his love life as a whole, and also make some nude cash doing that.”
“And how do you intend on making cash from him? I bet he wants to kill you as we speak.”
“You’re right. I’ll just tell him he can get rid of me if he can give me enough money. He gives me enough money, and I’ll be out of his life. Easy peasy.”
“And you are really going to leave him alone?”
“I don’t know yet. I may change my mind later.” She answered and broke into laughter afterwards.
‘She’s really lost it.’ Alec thought, massaging his forehead with his fingers.
“So I thought about your proposal, and I’ve decided that we should be together. That’s what you’ve always wanted, right? Maybe two evil people being together is not such a bad idea.”
“No.” He replied abruptly
“What’s No?” She creased her brows.
“I don’t want to be with you anymore.”
“What? Why? Are you still mad at me? I’m sorry, okay? I shouldn’t have said those awful words to you. They were mean and…”
“I think I’m falling for somebody else.” He cut her short, and the other end of the line went dead silent.
“Who is she?” Anita asked, hoping deep down that it wasn’t who she was thinking.”
“Aurora. I think I’m falling for her. So, I’d advise you to continue with your plans alone. I have a nice woman to console.”
“What? Alec…”
He hung up the phone and turned to look back. He saw Aurora looking at him from where she sat, and he waved at her, rushing back to where the table was.
“I’m sorry I kept you waiting.” He responded, sitting down.
“No, it’s fine. I can’t wait to dig in though.” She uttered, and they both laughed.
Anita’s jaw dropped as she heard the phone disconnect. “Did he just hang up on me? Because of that Bch?!” She roared in disbelief, anger springing forth inside of her like that of a spring.
She slammed into the couch and stared into space. “You really think you can have what is meant to be mine?! I’ll watch you try.” She muttered under gritted teeth.
After breakfast, Aurora laid on the lounge chair and relaxed. Alec laid on the chair next to hers and turned his head to look at her.
“How is it?” He asked, and she turned to look at him.
“Good.” She answered, and he nodded in satisfaction.
“Can I ask you something?” She asked, and he nodded, looking into her eyes.
“Anything.”
“Why are you doing all these for me? I mean, you barely know me.”
“What? Do you ever say that again. I know that you’re the best chef in the world! That’s enough.” He retorted, and Aurora broke into laughter.
“Don’t tease me, Alec. I’m serious.”
“Well, I’m doing all these because you deserve it and more. A woman like you shouldn’t know what pain is. I’ve seen you sad a few times, and I realized I hate seeing you that way. So, I’ll do anything to make sure I don’t see you sad.” He explained, making her smile faintly.
“You know you don’t have to.”
“No. I have to, because this is the only way I can show you I have good intentions for you. I don’t want you to ever have a reason to stop talking to me. So yeah, I’ll always be here like a pest.”
“But… but I can’t like you, Alec. I’m too damaged to fall in love. I need to heal and this may take forever.”
“It’s fine, Aurora. This is fine. And if I have to wait a lifetime. I would. Just do you and don’t worry about me. I’ll take care of you.” He responded, and she smiled heartily.
“Thank you, Alec. You’re God sent.”
“Of course, I am.”
