Chapter 75 Yayyy
“Arthur…” Aurora called softly as tears filled her eyes. She couldn’t believe what was happening. Her wishes were finally becoming a reality but it seemed too good to be true.
“Please don’t say no. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I have thought about it deeply and I’ve come to the conclusion that there’s no point wasting any more time.
“Let’s get married, Aurora.”
As Arthur spoke, Aurora’s eyes shimmered with joy and emotion. She nodded as she stretched out her left hand to receive the ring.
It was a beautiful diamond ring. As he slid it on her finger, he stood up and lifted her from the ground, swirling her in the air happily.
“I love you!” He screamed excitedly as Aurora broke into tears.
“What’s wrong?” He asked worriedly as he let go of her. He made her sit on the bed and knelt in front of her. “Why are you crying?? Are those tears of joy? I’m so worried right now.” He cupped her face in his hands.
“I… I just can’t help but remember the first time we met and how we met.” She muttered, looking up as she cleaned her eyes with her hand.
“It’s been years, and this is happening. Who would have thought we’d end up together after starting our journey that way. It’s all just so overwhelming.” She mumbled, lowering her head.
“Listen to me, Aurora. I know I came off too strong towards you at the beginning. Yes, time has passed and I didn’t treat you well back then, but we’ve grown. We see things differently now, compared to then. We are older and mature now.
“And I promise you that you wouldn’t regret marrying me. I know these are just words, but I’ll back them up with actions. I promise that Anita won’t be a problem anymore.” He added, making Aurora scoff.
“She doesn’t look like one that would give up easily.” She answered.
“Well, that’s her business. She’ll have to give up when she doesn’t see me anymore.” He uttered, and Aurora creased her brows.
“When she doesn’t see you anymore?” She asked, and he nodded.
“Yes. After our wedding, we should move. Let us go somewhere that no one knows us. I have had this in mind for quite sometime now, but I wanted to make us official before discussing it with you. What do you think?” He asked, still kneeling in front of her.
“Can you please sit first?” She asked as she remembered he was kneeling.
Arthur stood up and sat next to her on the bed, holding her hand in his.
“I… I think you should let me think about it. It’s a great idea. But what about your work??”
“I’ve decided to employ a capable manager as soon as you agree to the plans. Once you can tell me you’d leave with me, then work will sort itself out. You’re my priority and so are the kids, plus, I can always start up something anywhere we find ourselves.” He assured her.
She smiled heartily and nodded. She lifted her hand and admired how beautifully the ring sat on her finger. As she stared at it, she remembered what Carter told her, causing her eyes to widen.
“Have you heard?” She asked in excitement, turning to look at Arthur.
“Heard what?” He asked with a chuckle even though he was confused.
“Carter and Derick. They’re getting married next month.”
“What? That’s amazing and fast.” Arthur answered, and Aurora laughed in agreement, nodding her head.
“I was so happy when he told me. I mean, he proposed already. I bet they didn’t see the need to wait any longer.”
“Do you want ours to be that fast too?” He asked, leaning closer to her, causing her cheeks to flush.
“What? Well, why do we have to wait? We both want to get married to each other.”
“Right. So, pick a date. If you want the wedding tomorrow, so be it.” Arthur added, making Aurora laugh.
“It doesn’t have to be that fast, okay? I may be so excited about it, but I still want us to plan it well.” She answered, and he nodded in agreement.
“And what about your mother? You’ll tell her about it, right?” He asked, and the smile on her face vanished.
She had almost forgotten she had a mother, and she believed it was the same with her mother.
“I don’t think she sees me as her daughter anymore. If she saw me as her daughter, she wouldn’t have left and ghosted when I needed her the most. I don’t think I want her anywhere around me anymore.” Aurora answered out of the bitterness of her heart.
“I understand you, baby. I just want you to think about it more, okay? People make mistakes, and she has made a mistake. You can’t just act like she isn’t your mother anymore. I bet you didn’t reach out because she feels guilty and believes you hate her.” Arthur added.
Aurora heaved a deep sigh and nodded. “I’ll think about it, but I can’t promise you anything. You won’t be mad at me if we don’t reach a common ground on this, right?”
“Of course not. I just want you to think about it, considering the fact that I don’t have any parents, and she’s the only parent we have. If you eventually decide to keep her out of our lives, so be it.”
Aurora smiled and touched his hand. “You’ve changed so much.” She giggled.
“I know that. Sometimes, I don’t even recognize myself anymore. You changed me, and I’m grateful for that.”
He leaned closer to her again and planted a kiss on her forehead.
After their conversation, Aurora reached for her phone. “I can’t wait to break the news to the boys. We should call them.” She uttered, and Arthur nodded.
She put a video call across to Derick, her finger up in the air and close to the camera so it would be the first thing they see.
And just as they wanted, Derick answered the phone with the boys and Carter next to him.
Seeing the ring on her finger, Derick and Carter’s eyes widened. “He made it official?!” Carter screamed in excitement as if he had just won a lottery.
Aurora nodded, placing her hand on her mouth.
“Mom! Mom! You’re getting married to daddy?” Ryan asked.
“Yes, sweetie. Mummy is going to marry Daddy.”
“Yayyyy!” The kids chorused, giving themselves high fives to congratulate themselves on their hard work, which paid off after all.
“I’m so happy for you, Aurora. Congratulations.” Derick uttered, and this was when Arthur came into view.
“There he is. The man that swore never to fall in love with any woman is now getting married! Isn’t that great?!” Derick teased, while Arthur smiled manly.
“Well, she isn’t just any woman. She’s Aurora. My soulmate.”
Hearing this response from Arthur, the boys screamed, and Carter was no exception.
“Damn! I can’t recognize my friend anymore. Aurora, what have you done?” Derick continued to tease, while they all just laughed.
“We should meet up and celebrate tomorrow! Let’s throw a party!” Carter suggested, looking at Derick for approval, and Aurora did the same thing to Arthur.
“Sounds great.” Derick and Arthur chorused.
“Yes!” At our house tomorrow. Derick and I will take care of it. Right, baby?”
“Right! See you tomorrow!” Derick uttered, waving at the camera. “Byeee!” The kids added, waving too.
“Bye babies! See you tomorrow!” They greeted each other and hung up. Aurora let out a deep sigh and looked at Arthur.
“What do we do now?” She asked, and in no time, the happy expression on Arthur’s face changed into a lustful one.
“What do you think?” He asked as he pushed her to the bed and got on top of her.
“Arthur!” She called in awe, even though she was ready to receive him again.
