Chapter 63 Another plan
It was the weekend and Arthur was home with the boys. Ryan shouldn’t stop pressuring him about playing a game with them, which he eventually agreed to.
While they were in the room, playing the game, Anita stood at the door and watched them with a large smile on her face.
‘I just need a few more weeks and I’ll be able to join them in playing. It will be like I am their mother.’ She fantasized, still staring at them.
Ryan looked back and saw that Anita was staring at them. Arthur’s back was turned against the door, so he didn’t see her there. Ryan quickly gave an eye signal to Riley and Rowan and they nodded.
All of a sudden, Ryan yelled, “See daddy! She’s looking at us that same way again! I told you she hates us!” Ryan yelled, pointing to Anita who was not only confused but dumbfounded.
Arthur looked back and saw Anita standing at the door. “Anita, what did you do this time?” He asked, standing to his feet.
“What?! I didn’t do anything!” She defended herself.
“She did something! She looked at me with those evil eyes! Like the ones we see on television!” Ryan added, his eyes shimmering with tears.
“What?! Why would I do that? Ryan, why are you lying?!” Anita yelled in anger, causing Arthur’s eyes to widen.
The boys broke into tears at the same time, running to Arthur’s back and hiding behind him like they were all scared of her.
“Why would you raise your voice when talking to my children? Because I let you live in my house doesn’t mean you can talk to them like that! They are my children.” Arthur responded angrily.
After the boys told him about her, he didn’t want to jump into conclusions or even ask her about her. But after she yelled, he immediately believed they had told him the truth.
“I’m sorry, but they are lying. I never looked at them that way.”
“And now you’re calling them liars? Let’s talk… Outside.” In anger, Arthur grabbed her hand and pulled out of the room.
After they were out, Ryan shut the door behind them and broke into silent laughter alongside his brothers.
“We did it!” They whispered and cheered.
“Arthur, I swear. I never did such a thing.” Anita uttered behind him as he pulled her to the living room.
“Listen, woman, you just yelled at them right in front of me! And called them liars. Why would I ever want to believe anything you say right now? And as if the weird looks you have been giving them were not enough, you proceeded to say bad things about their mother!”
At this point, Arthur was beginning to regret letting her into his house in the first place. He believed his children saw what he wanted to ignore, but now he couldn’t ignore it anymore.
“What? They told you I said bad things about Aurora?! When? How? I haven’t even gotten the chance to have a conversation with them because they don’t like me!”
“So it’s true they don’t like you, and so you decided to give them weird looks and call them names.” Arthur scoffed.
“I saw this coming, but I chose to ignore it because I wanted to give you the benefit of doubt. And you know what? You didn’t disappoint me. You’re still that Anita I should never let come close to me or the people I love.”
Tears heated the back of Anita’s eyes as she digested every word she said to her. She couldn’t believe his kids were the reason why her plans wouldn’t go through.
“Arthur, I…”
“You should pack your things and leave. Thank God you are fine now and your so-called violent man isn’t disturbing you anymore. You don’t have to stay up to a month. Leave.” Arthur said in a final tone, pointing to the door.
“Arthur, please! I’m sorry, okay? Please, I don’t know where to go if you chase me out now. I have nobody. Please, Arthur. Let me stay up to a month, I promise I’ll be out of your life for good.”
“No, I don’t think I can let my children live in terror for the next one month. I give you three days to pack your stuff and get out of my house.
“As far as I am aware, you haven’t even made any efforts to put this guy behind bars. It keeps me wondering if you even want to get justice. And sometimes, it seems like you don’t want to do anything because you think you’ve seen a home. Well I’m sorry, this isn’t a place for you. I have a family and I won’t let you ruin it.
“Three days and you’re out.” In a final tone, Arthur walked out of the living room and headed back to the boys’ room.
“I’m sorry about that, boys. I have taken care of it.” Arthur assured them with a smile.
“Is she going to leave? We don’t want her here anymore. We want mom instead. I don’t like her.” Rowan muttered in a low voice, and his brothers nodded in agreement.
“She seems evil. Right?” Ryan asked, and they all bobbed again.
Arthur let out a deep breath and nodded. “She’ll leave in three days, okay? I’m sorry I didn’t do anything since that night you told me about it.”
“It’s okay, daddy. We are happy that she won’t be here for our birthday. We want only our mother and friends.” Riley told him, and he smiled.
“And that is exactly what is going to happen.”
“And also, I told mummy to discuss a part of our birthday party with you. Please both of you should talk about it.” Ryan added.
“Really? What is it about?” He asked, and they shrugged.
“We wouldn’t tell you to find out from her if it was something we could tell you. But please you two should make it happen. That’s the greatest birthday gift you could give us.”
Arthur chuckled and nodded. “Okay, I’ll get on the phone with her today.”
“Yes! We love you daddy!” They chorused, going in to embrace and shower him with kisses.
With tears in Anita’s eyes, she reached for her phone and made a phone call.
“Listen to me very carefully.” She whispered with her eyes on the children’s door, hoping Arthur wouldn’t come out.
“My plan is failing! He wants me to do something about you. Like taking legal actions. What do we do? His children are a pain in my arse. They wouldn’t let me breathe. Gosh, I hate them so much!”
She rushed through words, expressing her hatred for the boys.
“Calm down, girl!” He answered from the other end.
“I can’t! I have three days now. And I haven’t even started with my plan! What do we do?!”
“I’ll call you back in an hour. Let me come up with something.”
“Great! I’ll text you after an hour. Don’t just call. I may be close to him. And please, make sure the plan is going to work! Or there’s no more deal. I’m so frustrated at this point.” She muttered and hung up the phone in frustration.
From the top floor, while Theo walked down the hallway, Anita caught his attention and he leaned closer to the glass railings to watch her closely.
He couldn’t hear her but she looked very unsettled and desperate. ‘What the hell is going on with her now?’
