Chapter 31 Blue
“I don’t think he’ll want me there.” Carter muttered, as he cuddled with Derick.
Derick invited him to Arthur’s thirty-fifth birthday party, but Carter just couldn’t see how he was going to enjoy himself there.
Since he left Arthur’s house, he has hardly seen nor talked to him. I just wanted to stay away for reasons best known to him.
“Why would you say that? Of course he wants you there. You’re going to be with me.” Derick insisted, causing Carter to roll his eyes.
“That’s the only reason why he’d want me there. Because I’m with you, not because we are friends. And what if he acts strange that day when he sees me in his mansion, hun?”
“He wouldn’t. I promise. I’ll let him know you’ll be coming, so this will prepare him, okay? Pretty please come. Because of me.” Derick muttered, caressing Carter’s arms as he spoke.
Carter let out a loud sigh and eventually nodded. “Fine. I’ll go since you can’t stop sulking about it.” He muttered, and Derick muttered.
He lifted his head and plunged his lips with his. “Thank you, baby. I love you so much.” He uttered excitedly.
Carter giggled and looked into his eyes. “I love you too, Derick. So very much.” His response was filled with emotions, which somehow managed to turn Derick on again.
“Hey… would you love to go another round?” Derick asked, and Carter hastily looked away shyly.
“What? Baby we already sent two rounds.” Carter muttered weakly.
“But you don’t seem too tired, or are you? I mean, I’m hungry again.” Derick added.
Carter heaved a sigh and nodded. “Okay.”
Derick, in excitement, moved on top of him, and just when he was about to kiss his lips, they heard the doorbell ring.
“Baby, are you expecting someone?” Carter asked, looking at the room door.
“I’m not sure. I’ll check it out.” He answered, getting off the bed and putting on his clothes.
He headed out of the room and took long strides towards the door, still wondering who it could be. Opening the door, he saw Jimmy standing in the doorway.
“Jimmy?” Derick called in surprise as he made way for him to walk in.
“What have you done to my brother?” Jimmy asked, turning to look at Derick again.
“What??” Derick questioned, turning to look at him.
“I have been trying to contact him for days now but he’s been unreachable. Where is he?” Jimmy asked, standing akimbo.
“Jimmy? What are you doing here?” Carter asked from the stairs, as he walked down.
“Carter! Are you serious right now? Where did you keep your damn phone? I’ve been calling like a crazy man, trying to reach you.” Jimmy uttered in frustration, as he sat on the couch.
Carter furrowed his brows in confusion and looked at Derick, who was equally confused.
“Why are you so bent on reaching me? What’s happening?” Carter asked as he also sat on the couch.
Jimmy sighed and lowered his head. “I finally did what you asked. I reached out to Aurora.” He uttered, and Carter raised his brows in amusement.
“Really? And how was it?” He asked while Derick sat next to him.
“Bad. I don’t think we can be together anymore.”
“What? why?”
“I told her I’ve forgiven her and I’d love to take her out for dinner. She agreed to go with me, and when it was time to leave, I headed down to her house only for her to turn me down at the very last minute.”
“What?!” Carter exclaimed.
“Why did she do that?” Derick also inquired.
“I have no idea. She said nothing, neither did she explain. I think she’s trying to tell me to back off.” Jimmy added, shrugging.
“I don’t think that is it. It’s possible something urgent came up, or…”
Derick touched Carter’s thighs, stopping him from talking. Carter turned to look at him, and he shook his head, telling him not to say anything about it.
Carter swallowed hard and nodded, looking at Jimmy again.
“I’m sorry, Jimmy.” Carter uttered, and he shook his head.
“No. It’s all good. I shouldn’t have stayed too long before reaching out to her. I just came to tell you about it. I should leave now.” Jimmy uttered as he stood up from the couch.
“I’ll turn my phone back on, okay? You can reach me anytime you want.” Carter assured him, escorting him to the door.
After he left, Carter turned to look at Derick. “What?” He asked.
“I didn’t want you to give him more hope. I think I know what is going on.”
“And that is?”
“I think Arthur feels something for Aurora. And I think it’s the same with her.”
“You think so?” Carter creased his brows.
“I know so. Arthur must have stopped her from going out with him. Even though he is in denial about his feelings, it’s become so evident these days. I didn’t want you to encourage him to keep trying. I think Arthur has won her heart already.” Derick explained.
“But that’s unfair to my brother.” Carter muttered sadly, closing the gap between them.
“Can we please stop talking about this?” Derick pouted, causing Carter to smile.
“And talk about what?”
“What we were going to do before.” Derick answered, playfully smacking Carter’s btts, making him moan.
“Let’s go.” Carter muttered, biting his lower lip.
“Do we need to throw a party?” Arthur mumbled tiredly. The whole process he was forced to go through was beginning to stress him out.
He had never celebrated his birthday in a grand way, but Aurora, Derick, Theo and the boys seemed pretty excited about it too.
“We have to. The boys want you to throw a party.” Aurora answered, staring at the list of things she wanted to get.
“And you? You don’t want me to?” He asked, leaning closer to her.
“Of course I want you to.” She answered, shyly, lowering her head.
They both sat on his bed, thinking of how to plan his party. Though Arthur suggested that they call an event planner, Aurora believed she could do it herself.
Arthur didn’t want to discourage her, so he let her do it. He wasn’t so interested anyway.
“What’s your favorite color?” Arthur asked, and Aurora raised her head to look at him again.
“Blue. Why?” She asked, and he shook his head.
“Nothing. I was just curious.” He answered, looking into the book she was writing again.
Aurora swallowed hard as she looked into the book too. She wasn’t sure what they were, but she knew it wasn’t the way it used to be.
After their kiss, they become much closer in a way that she never thought was possible.
He constantly started checking on her, being super nice even though they never talked about the kiss after that day.
They also hadn’t kissed since then. It was like Danielle came to ruin all the fun.
Aurora badly wanted to ask him what they were now, but she felt it was too early for that.
‘I want him to show me that he really likes me and I am not just fantasizing about it.’
“I’ll be back soon.” Arthur uttered, and Aurora nodded, looking at him as he headed out of the room.
A wide smile lit up her face as she could finally pay attention to what she was doing
Getting out of the room, Arthur reached for his phone and called a number.
“Hey… get me a blue dress before the weekend.”
