Chapter 22 Do I love him?
Getting to the house, Carter and Derick waved her goodnight as she headed into the house.
“Thank you so much for the ride!” Aurora said to them, reaching for the doorknob and opening the door.
She walked in and turned her back against the living room so she could lock the door. Turning to look up, her jaw dropped as she saw something she wasn’t expecting to see.
On the largest couch was Arthur and a woman. He was on top of her, kissing her deeply. Aurora swallowed hard as she moved closer to find out who she was.
As she got closer, she stared at their lustful faces and saw the woman was Danielle. ‘Of course it’s Danielle. But why the hell are they doing this in the living room?’
Aurora clenched her jaws as she felt intense hatred towards them. She hated that she saw them like that together, even though she wasn’t sure why.
While she still watched, Arthur’s hand slipped downward in between Danielle’s thighs, causing her to moan softly.
Aurora quickly and quietly looked away, heading to the boys’ room. She couldn’t help but wonder if they were really into it and they had no idea that she walked in.
‘Didn’t they hear footsteps?? And why couldn’t they go into his room?! What if the boys see them in such a disgusting state.’ She thought in anger, shaking her head in disbelief.
Opening the door to the boys’ room, her eyes net darkness in the room. She creased her eyes as she made her way into the room.
‘They are all asleep already?? I made sure Derick drove as fast as he could.’ She thought, staring at their faces with the help of the moonlight that found its way into the room through the window.
Aurora let out a sigh as she planted kisses on their heads before heading back out.
Getting out of the room, she heard Danielle's moan grow dramatically louder, causing her eyes to widen.
“What the hell, they’ll fking wake the boys.” She thought aloud, storming into the living room.
“Erm…” She faked a cough. “I’m sorry to interrupt you, but you’re too loud and you’ll wake the boys up.” She uttered, commending a pause to whatever Arthur was doing to Danielle.
“Oh my… I’m sorry. I didn’t realize I was so loud. I’m a loud moaner, but I’m trying to keep it as low as I can.” Danielle answered with a smirk.
“Well, you can do better.” Aurora added as she turned to leave, without looking at Arthur’s face for once. Arthur’s eyes were glued to her back as she turned to leave.
“Hey… let’s continue. You were about to get rid of my bra.” Danielle whispered in his ear, slightly biting his earlobe.
Arthur clenched his jaws and said no word to her as his eyes were still fixed on Aurora who was now having a chat with Theo as they walked down the hallway.
They were both smiling at each other, and this drove Arthur crazy. ‘She is supposed to be furious!’
“Hey, what’s going on in that handsome kind of yours?” Danielle whispered again, tracing her hand bare chest, down to his waistline.
“Stop!” He grabbed her hand and yanked it off him.
“What?!” Danielle replied in awe and anger.
“I’ve lost interest. You should go home.” He answered coldly, picking up his shirt and standing up.
“What? What happened? What did I do wrong?”
“I lost interest. It’s not about you. You should leave. I’ll call my driver now and he’ll take you home.” He retorted coldly, walking out of the living room.
“What is wrong with you, hmm? We were just having a moment! And you just stop? Is it because of her? You didn’t want us to see us like this?!” Danielle inquired angrily, and this made Arthur take an abrupt halt.
“This is exactly what I wanted. So stop whining like a child and put on your clothes. We’ll talk some other day.” He answered, walking away again.
This time, Danielle just stared at him with disbelief. In anger, she grabbed her shirt and began to put it back on, while Arthur made a call to his driver as he headed up the stairs.
“I wasn’t expecting you to come back so soon. What happened?” Theo asked as Aurora invited him into her room.
“I didn’t plan on coming back earlier too, but Ryan called me, saying I should come back to read him some bed stories. He also mentioned Rowan was crying. I rushed down here only to find out they fell asleep already.” She answered tiredly, slamming into her bed.
“Oh, really? I didn’t hear any of them cry. That’s weird. Maybe I wasn’t paying enough attention.” Theo answered, as he kept standing next to her bed.
Aurora noticed this and she furrowed her brows. “Why are you standing? Sit down.” She said to him, and he smiled widely, sitting next to her.
There was awkward silence in the room for a moment as they sat close to each other. Theo stared at her pretty hands on her legs and his eyes trailed up to her face.
Then he noticed that she looked pretty worried. Like something was bothering her.
“Hey, are you alright?” He broke the silence.
Aurora heaved a sigh and nodded, letting out a smile. “Yes, I am. I just can’t stop wondering why Mr. Arthur had to do that in the living room.” She mumbled, brushing her hair backward with her hand.
“Do what?” He creased his brows in confusion.
“Make out with Danielle in the living room, of course. What if the children walked out of their room and found them that way?” She asked, rolling her eyes as she felt disgusted again.
“Is that the only reason you’re so mad right now?” Theo further asked, and Aurora scoffed.
“What does he even see in her anyway? I mean, she’s pretty. But I have a strong feeling she isn’t the nice person she portrays herself to be. She may be deceiving Arthur and she’ll make him hate women more. I…”
“You care about Mr. Arthur, don’t you?” He cut her short, letting her words hang in her throat.
“What? No! Of course not. Why would I care about him? I’m just worried about the kids.” She denied, looking away from Theo.
Theo smiled faintly and leaned closer to her, making her eyes widen. Their faces got so close, she could perceive the mint in his breath.
“What are…”
His eyes fell on her plump lips, and without hesitation, he covered her lips with his, cupping her face softly.
Aurora’s eyes widened further as he nibbled on her lips. She wanted to reciprocate because it felt so good, but she couldn’t. She didn’t know why, but she couldn’t bring herself to give in to him.
She moved her to his chest and slightly pushed him back. His eyes were filled with emotions as his gaze locked with hers. He was madly in love with her.
“I’m sorry, I can’t.” Aurora muttered, looking away from him.
“Why? I’m in love with you.” He added, still keeping my head close. He waited for her response, but she couldn’t say a word to him.
She didn’t want to hurt him.
“It’s because of him, right? It’s because of Mr Arthur, isn’t it?” He asked, and Aurora furrowed her brows.
“Of course not.” She answered, turning her head to look at him.
“You can deny it all you want, Aurora. I saw how jealous you were when you saw him together with Danielle. I’ve seen how you look at him when he’s with the kids. You don’t have to lie about what you feel.” He uttered, standing up from the bed.
“No. I don’t love him!” Aurora insisted, but Theo nodded slowly.
“But you care for him. Stop lying to yourself, Aurora. Who knows? He may like you too.” Theo added, before he turned to leave.
‘He may like me too? Arthur? Like me? That is impossible.’ Aurora thought as Theo’s last words kept ringing in her head.
“Do I love him?”
