Chapter 18 — Love of my life (Raph’s POV)
“You animal, what have you done” I shouted at Mic, as I held Ladi in my hands. The woman I loved endlessly was lying lifeless on the floor, she had tried getting in between I and Mic when Mic subconsciously pushed her, letting her hit her head hard on the tiled floor.
“Ladi, please wake up” I cried out. There was blood coming out her nose, I could feel my soul break apart. I loved this woman with all my heart if anything happened to her I would not live. I can’t imagine a life without her. I shivered as I held her in my arms and rushed out the door to get help to the hospital. Michael didn’t move he just sat on the floor looking at all the damage he had done and wailing.
“Help, please help call an ambulance” I said as I stormed out of the elevator. I rushed towards the receptionists
“Omg, hold on we have an emergency ambulance, I’d put a call through” one of the receptionists replied After few minutes the ambulance arrived. I rushed Ladi over and sat beside her as the driver headed to the hospital.
“Ladi, please don’t die, I’m sorry, stay with me” I said, holding her hand.

It’s been three days since Ladi has been lying unconscious in the hospital, the doctor said she had a contusion which was minor and should regain consciousness this week. I reported to her work place that she was ill and her parents have also been informed about what happened. I stayed watching over Ladi all night but her parents insisted I go get some rest and her mom continued staying by her side, showering her with prayers and crying. I went back to the hotel to check if Mic was still around, but just like my instinct told me he was gone. He didn’t even bother to check on the lady he claimed he was in love with, he ran away like a bloody coward. I was ready to face whatever the consequences of my actions were, all I desperately wished for, was that Ladi would wake up.
While I was at my house, I received a text message from Ladi’s dad.
*she has regained consciousness, come over now*
I jumped out of my bed and scrambled through the things on the table beside my bed for my car key. “Yes” I muttered as I held the key in my hands and ran towards the door.

Ladi’s POV
I don’t know what was happening but I could feel my head spin, I tried opening my eyes but a bright light forced me to close it back. I squinted, I could see three figures around me, their faces looked familiar but I couldn’t place a name to them yet. After some minutes I recognized them, it was my mum, and dad, and some other lady.
Did something happen why where they here, I tried talking but at every attempt there was a sharp pain in my head so I didn’t force it, I just stopped and listened to them talk.
“Ladi, mummy is here, thank you for coming back, I and your dad have been dead worried” she whimpered
I could see dad just standing, holding mum’s shoulders as he stared at me. Whatever happened must have taken away my senses because I knew where I was and what was going on but just hadn’t figured it out yet.
“I’ll go get the doctor” the young lady said as she walked out.
As time went by everything started to click, I remembered how I got here, I was about getting in the middle of a fight when I hit the floor. I wonder where Raph is and why he wasn’t here, maybe he was mad at me for leaving with Mic, I don’t blame him. I deserve this. I’m such a horrible person.
“Raph” I uttered, as he walked into the room, taking steps closer to me. I could see my parents leave the room so Raph was alone with me. I had a lot to tell him but the pain I felt every time I tried to talk prevented me from speaking.
“My love” he said, as tears formed in his eyes.
“I’m sorry Raph” I gasped, “I’m sorry” could feel tears roll down my face.
“Please don’t say anything Ladi, I still love you so much, nothing can ever change that, you simply made a mistake and that’s fine, I don’t mind, I have you here, and you’re back to life here with me ” he raised his hand towards my face, using his thumb to wipe my tears.
“Welcome back to life Ladi” I hear the doctor say as he walked in, the nurse had gone out earlier to call him “So how do you feel, do you feel any pain when you talk? Does your headache?”
“Yes” I whispered, as I nodded gently.
“That’s totally expected, you would feel better in a few days”

Four weeks has passed since the incident happened and asides the episodes of terrible migraine’s I have, I have been doing just fine. I still haven’t resumed work. I got a report from the hospital and took it over to my boss and I was asked to resume when I had recovered fully and was energetic enough for the field works.
“Hey there” I tried sounding romantic, as I winked at Raph, who was sitting on the bed beside me. We were at one and only royal mirage in Dubai. Raph insisted he wanted to treat me to a nice vacation and I refused at first but he really wanted it to happen, so I said yes.
“What are you doing” he teased “Why don’t you take a wild guess” I said as I moved closer to him, now sitting directly on his legs, with my hands on his shoulders.
“I love you so much Raph” I said gently I kissed him softly on his temple, down to his lips and his neck.
“I love you too Ladi, I always will” he kissed me back on my lips. I felt his hands press my waist as he moved his lips all over my chest. I let out a gasp.
I promised myself I would never give myself to any man till I was ready and he was worth it. And Raph was. I will always be thankful for the day our paths crossed.
