|| GIDEON's POV ||

Can you love your ex again?

I questioned myself when the first ray of sunlight fell on her face. She was still asleep. I made her exhausted last night. I believe that it was the most adorable moment we shared after our marriage.

Looking back at the moment, I remembered how anxious she sounded for me. Max had told me everything on the phone. I couldn't help but smile when he said how she kicked out Lina from my room. She still cared for me.

But did I forgive her?

The past still haunted me. She took away the only thing that I wanted in my life.

A family!

The feeling still turned my heart sour. Even though I only wanted a child from her, I couldn't find the heart to throw her outside. I left her to sleep and headed outside, my car was already waiting. I had an emergency meeting with the Mayor. He called me to meet all of a sudden. Stella was left with my men. I couldn't understand the meaning behind this urgent meeting. We talked last night. When I became drunk, Lina offered to drop me home.

Who knew that she had all the intention to fuck me?

The travel didn't take so long. When I appeared in the mansion, I found a haggard looking for the mayor. He looked devastated, lying on the red couch. He sat up anxiously as soon as I reached there. Flying over to me, he began to blubber,
" GIDEON! IT'S OVER! My campaign in the rural village has been set on fire. It was near a school and a few children were hurt. It is Blake's doing I shouldn't have turned down his offer."

Lines of shock appeared on my face. I never thought that Blake would be so pissed off. I tried to console the Mayor, staring at the TV where the news broke,
" LET ME SEE! No one can spoil your image as long as I am with you."
Mr.Mayor yelled out desperately, his voice breaking down,
" YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND! It's already ruined. When there are children involved, my image is already tarnished."

I couldn't disagree with the fact since the media had already reached there. I never failed to keep my word. I had to do something to stop Clenching my fists together, I gave him my last words,
" I promise you. You will be the next Mayor of this city. Leave Blake to me. I can handle him."

It wasn't just words. It was a promise and I would do everything to keep my word. I knew exactly who could stop Blake if it wasn't me.

|| VALERIA'S POV ||

" I am so fucking nervous, Lex!"
I blubbered as I touched my makeup, looking at my new image in the mirror. My visuals came out more stunning than I imagined. The crew was in love with my image. We were shooting a commercial for soft-drink. The offer came unexpectedly from Lex. I just got a call and he told me to be ready for the shoot.

Lex clapped his hands dramatically, his lips twisting into a confident smile,
" Come on, Val! You are a goddess, a diva. I can never be wrong. Just give your natural expression."

Lex's words made me confident. I played a few songs to boost my mood. As they asked for my presence, I lifted the orange gown to walk to the stage. The commercial was going to be shot under the sky. The five-star building with the view from the ocean, visual was going to be amazing if they worked on it well.

The crew appreciated my appearance. They were kind and sweet, especially the director. I loved my time there and finished it in ten shots. Gideon didn't know anything about it yet. Lex couldn't help but tear up, running too excitedly,
" Oh, my dearest! You have done a splendid job. I can't wait to see you on TV."

I blushed a little, getting rid of the high heels that I was wearing,
" Oh please! You are making me shy, Lex. All credit goes to you."

Lex grinned before flaunting how he created those big commercial stars. I heard his thoughts until my eyes fell on a pair, walking on the upper floor. My eyes narrowed when I spotted Lina laughing with a man. That man had an arm wrapped around her waist affectionately.

I couldn't see his face due to the light. But they looked very close. From the back, I could see only his Armani suit and white hair. It was very obvious that Gideon wasn't the man.

Then who was she hanging with?

I was lost in my thoughts. As I kept staring at them, they disappeared into the corridor. I took my eyes off in puzzlement. Perhaps it wasn't Lina. I was overthinking everything because of my hatred for her. Lex's voice snapped me out of my thoughts,
" DARLING! Where are you lost?"

I came back to sense after he tugged at me. I smiled weakly to avoid the question,
" Nothing! It's just..this place is too beautiful."

Lex didn't doubt it anymore. Instead, he exaggerated how they spent dollars to book the place. My thoughts kept going back and forth to Lina even though I wasn't sure if it was her or not.

Lex pulled me out of my thoughts when he offered to show me the final result. Honestly, I couldn't believe that I looked so pure in the commercial. I loved the shoot and it encouraged me to work harder. Lex offered to drop me at my home. I refused so many times but he was persistent.
We walked to the elevator, waiting for it to be reached on our floor. The elevator danged open only to be bumped by Lina. I let out a small gasp before turning around to face her. She was alone this time. When she saw me, fear flashed across her face.

I asked without hesitation, suddenly getting curious about her motives,
" What are you doing here?"

Lina turned pale after my question. She scoffed before turning on her heels,
" None of your business, humph!"

I couldn't understand why I found her suspicious. Her answer seemed as though she didn't want to tell the truth or was hiding something. I didn't go after her. Lex asked me to leave which I did through the elevator. Perhaps I was too paranoid after what happened yesterday.

I was distracted soon after I heard the news on the radio. The car was too quiet when the news started buzzing like a vibration in my ear,
" BREAKING NEWS: Mr.Mayor has been accused of killing....."

I frowned harder after hearing the news. I remembered seeing this Mayor with Gideon so many times. This news piqued my interest. I heard the whole incident in sharp ears.

Was it the reason Gideon left me early in the morning without saying anything?

I was suddenly worried for him. If those people succeed in hurting the Mayor, will they try to harm Gideon too?
