Hundred and seventy one
Hundred and seventy one
Angelina's POV
I watched my husband bleed on our wedding day.
And I received a letter about my grandfather's death the day after.
He didn't just die or leave me but he left me everything.
Every single property owned by him was left under my name.
All the Davis family assets were put under my name.
I read his letter and I knew he didn't like Arnold very much.
He called his love dangerous.
The same love I call safety. Comfort. Mine.
The billion-dollar companies and the different investments that bring millions every month were left to me, his only direct descendant.
I woke up to an empty bed. The white blanket covering my half-naked body pulled down on the floor as I stepped down from the bed.
I was wearing black underwear and a bra.
I pulled a white shirt from the closet and shoved it on.
My hair fell behind me as I stepped out of the huge bedroom. My bare feet touching the cold, clean, and shining black marble floor.
"Arnold?" I called as I stepped down the stairs, my eyes searching the huge living room for him.
"You are awake." His cold deep voice came from the door as it shut behind him.
His gaze ran over me like he was seeing me for the first time.
"Your body is fucking perfect." He walked over and wrapped his hands around my waist.
pulled me gently to himself.
"When are we going back to New York?" I asked.
We’d been gone two months. Romania first — to bury my grandfather.
He lied to me. Used me. Tried to turn me against Arnold for his own gain.
But he was still family. I said goodbye.
I stayed to handle the paperwork. The lawyers wanted me to move back to Romania, to manage my inheritance.
I refused.
Arnold didn’t say a word. He just stood behind me. Tall. Built. The Devil of New York.
They didn’t persist.
When they suggested my grandfather’s adopted son — Uncle Neon — take over, Arnold objected immediately.
I didn’t ask why he hated Neon. I didn’t need to.
I trust his judgment. I trust him.
He told them I would manage everything from New York.
I might be worth ten billion now. The richest woman in Romania.
But Arnold is worth more.
"I’m not done spending time with you yet," he whispered against my face.
After Romania, we came here. His private island. Our honeymoon.
Quiet. Private. No Marco. No men. No world.
Just us.
"I have a surprise for you," he whispered, lips brushing mine. Fire lit inside me.
He kissed me like his life depended on it. His hard chest pressed against my breasts.
"Over there." He nodded to the kitchen island. A box.
"Go on. Open it."
I ran to it. His cold dark blue eyes burned on me.
Inside was a golden gun.
I used to fear guns.
Now I pulled it out without fear. With the brightest smile.
Angelina Wolfe engraved on the side.
"You like it?" His hands wrapped around me.
"I love it," I said. And I meant it.
"I love you more than anything else in this life," he confessed, turning me to face him.
I was right when I fell in love with him. I was lucky when my heart recognized him.
He wasn't a good man but to me he was the best man in the world.
The only person than loved me more like Cole did.
"I love you too," I whispered, crushing my lips on his.
He let me kiss him. Then he devoured me. Hungry. Possessive.
"I have another surprise for you." His hand slid to my hip.
"What is it, someone to test my gun on?" I asked.
A year ago, I would have been horrified at myself for saying that.
Now? I was curious.
He chuckled. "Maybe."
Arnold doesn’t lie. He doesn’t bluff.
"Who is it?"
"Are you sure you want to know?" He pulled me closer.
"Yes. Not only that, but I also want to test my gun." I tilted my head.
He stepped back, took my hand. “I’ll show you.”
At the shore, two men were tied to chairs.
"Angelina, please help me get out of here," Uncle Neon begged.
I remember he didn't like me. A carward who hid behind the Davis power for years.
The other was Tobis Wolfe.
I used to be scared of guns. Blood. And even dead bodies.
I spent months in a hospital bed barely surviving thanks to him.
I looked at Arnold. “Go on, test it. And if you don’t like it, I’ll get you another one,” he whispered in my ear.
A vicious smile curved on my lips as I pointed
the gun at Tobis Wolfe.
He almost killed me. He shot me. He left me to die.
This time, it was my turn.
And Angelina Davis would have missed.
Angelina Wolfe doesn’t miss.
I pulled the trigger.
The sound echoed across the water.
Once. Twice.
Tobis’s body jerked, then slumped. Uncle Neon screamed.
I never miss my target because I had the best teacher.
I looked up at Arnold who pulled me into his chest.
" You like it." He wasn't asking.
" I guess." I whispered, leaning into him and inhaling his scent.
" Feel free to use it." He told me and my heart raised. Slowly. Breathless. And pridefully before falling back in my chest.
I feel powerful now.
I feel like I can now stand beside him without being questionned of my identy.
The END
