LENA POV

A FEW DAYS LATER.

Riven and Hazel were already in the news as a couple, and as I stared at the picture that had been taken of them leaving the hospital, I couldn't help but smile.

It was still so shocking that Hazel had said yes to Riven after the way she had avoided him before all of this.

"The heart truly wants what it wants, doesn't it?" I muttered to myself, my eyes lingering on the ring Riven had gotten for her. It was so pretty; I wished I had one too.

Hazel deserved all the love Riven showered on her because I knew just how much she'd suffered to get this far... I just hoped that from now on, all the bad energy would finally be replaced with only good ones

Sighing, I dropped the magazine on the table and then cupped my chin with my hand.

"When am I going to get my own Prince Charming, huh?" I asked, then sighed. "I want someone to be suffocatingly obsessed with me too."

The alarm on my phone pinged and I glanced at it, my eyes widening.

"Oh damn, it's today" I got out and shot to my feet, my stomach lurching with nerves all of a sudden.

I walked toward the mirror, taking in my reflection, and then I ran my hand through my hair, loving how beautiful I looked. "Alright. Let's go get a man obsessed with us, Lena." I grinned, then yanked open my closet, the dress I'd gotten for the date glinting in the dim light.

Yes, tonight was definitely going to be a good one.

"Where are you going all dressed up, Lena?" Raphael asked and I whipped around to face him. He stood at the front of the door, his hands gripping the knob. His face was gaunt, almost haunted, and it looked as if he hadn't been sleeping well either.

"I didn't know you were home. Shouldn't you be at the company you're interning for" I asked, my brow arching.

His hand dropped from the knob, his shoulders moving in a shrug "How could I possibly go anywhere after I had my heart shattered in pieces"

My brows furrowed. "What?" There was no way he still hadn't gotten over her. "Don't tell me you're still pining over Hazel"

"Yes, I am!" He got out, then bit down on his lips, his hands clenched by his side.
He let out a rough breath, his eyes fixed on mine. "And don't even think that I've forgiven you for what you did to me. I had to stand in that hospital room like a fool while you celebrated with them. You fucking gave them your blessings knowing fully well that I loved her. How could you be so cruel, huh?" he uttered, his eyes red-rimmed.

I let out a breath and then grabbed at my hair, tugging a bit on it in frustration. "Are we really going to do this again?' I questioned and his brows narrowed. "It's been a week already; I think it's time you move on, Raphael. You're the one who got it in your head that Hazel was trying to protect you from Riven because she was in love with you, but now everything has been cleared up. She doesn't have feelings for you at all. She is in love with him and already agreed to marry him, so try and let it go okay." I said then paused as his eyes burned into mine. "You didn't really think you two were going to work out did you?" I asked, my eyes widening when his gaze dropped to the floor, a single tear trailing down his cheek. I made a tsk sound, shook my head, and then yanked the door of my car open.

He gripped my wrist, his eyes shining with tears. "So what, what should I do then when it hurts so much? I've tried everything and I keep getting more depressed. Are you just going to leave me here after I got my heart broken"

"Raphael!" I groaned, jerking my hand from his. "Why don't you just give up the internship and go back to school huh... If you do that, maybe you'll get so busy you won't even have the time to think of Hazel. How about that huh?"

"Are you trying to send me away even when I'm like this? Is it because of that guy you met online" he asked, his lips curling.

I let out a groan, the side of my head hurting. "No, Raphael it's not, besides I haven't met up with him yet"

His gaze lifted, his brows furrowing. "Why not? I thought you met up with him that night"

"Well, I didn't, but don't worry, we fixed a new date, and that's where I am going right now," I said then grinned. "Now that Hazel is all good and has Riven to take care of her, I feel like I can finally have a love life too"

Raphael scoffed, his eyes rolling. "You keep saying that as if Hazel told you not to have one in the first place"

"And how would it have felt if I were going on dates while she was fighting for her life, huh?" I said and smacked him on the arm. "Enough of your smart mouth, I need to leave now or I am going to be late"

Raphael let out a tired breath, his shoulder slumping. "I guess I'll just have to spend the whole day wallowing in self-pity then..." He trailed off, his gaze darting between mine and the floor, the pleading look in his eyes each time he met my gaze becoming more pronounced.

My face squeezed, my eyes narrowing as I stared at him. "Are you trying to come with me on my date?" I asked, my eyes widening when his face perked up.

"Can I?" He got out excitedly. "I promise you won't even know I am there. I'll just be in the background, minding my own business. I swear it" he promised.

"Oh my gosh, no, eww, why will you even want to follow me on my date"

He pouted, his face twisting "You're just meeting this guy for the first time, so shouldn't I go with you and watch your back. You don't even know if he's creepy in real life"

"He is not creepy. We've been talking for a while and he is totally normal"

"Or pretending to be. Can I just come with you? I'll behave, I promise," he said, and I shook my head.

"No, I won't allow it. Just go back home and get drunk or do whatever you normally do to get over a heartbreak"

"But that's the problem. This is my first heartbreak, and I don't want to be alone any longer," he whined, driving me insane.

"Raphael for the love of God, you are not following me anywhere!"

"We've been driving for an hour," he got out, and my gaze whipped to his, the glare in my eyes vicious. Laughing nervously, he clutched at his seat belt. "I'm just a bit worried if you're really going on a date or you're just trying to murder and dump my body in the woods"

I rolled my eyes. "Keep talking and I just might "

He grunted then huffed. "As my favorite sister, you are being awfully mean to me."

"I am your only sister," I said, then focused back on the road.

A few moments passed in silence.

"But for real though, why are we driving out of the darn city to go meet this guy? Shouldn't he be the one meeting you?" He asked, and I turned to face him.

"Well, he's a doctor, so he can't go away from this town since he's the one in charge of the hospital there. What if there was an emergency" I explained, my hands flexing on the steering wheel, a shaky breath escaping my lungs.

"Are you even sure he's a doctor?" He asked and I met his gaze, my face contorting in a scowl.

Raphael raised his hand in surrender and then faced the road. "Fine, I'll drop it. I'm just trying to say you shouldn't be the one driving for so long just to meet up with a guy who claims to like you"

My brows furrowed. Raphael was right because I'd also not been cool with the location the first time I got the message on where we would be meeting. But then he'd gone into a lengthy explanation on how busy his schedule was and that he would really appreciate it if I could come and have dinner with him, and since I already canceled once, I'd just say okay not to be a dick.

"I hope he's worth all this trouble because this already screams red flag to me"

I scoffed then rolled my eyes. "Coming from you, yeah, you couldn't get me to bite"

He shook his head. "Fine. We'll see, won't we?"

"Yeah. We'll see."
