Chapter 18

Chapter 18
Shanaya was ambling through the corridors while plugging her ear pods and playing her favourite playlist. She attended all the lectures and spent time with her friends. Tanya and Nia already left as she had some work in the library so she stayed back. She came out of the building just then her eyes caught a glimpse.

She walked near and her eyes widened in realization. It's him, standing there leaning against his car with sleeves tucked to the elbow, wearing shades and his coat hanging over the car window.

No wonder he gets attention wherever he goes. Girls were swooning over him and pumped up to see him. She huffed and stomped her feet in anger and strolled on the opposite side towards her car.

He was going through his phone when his eyes landed on her though her back was facing him. He shoved his phone inside his pocket and paraded in the same direction as her.

"Why was he even here?" she muttered while stomping her feet and walking towards the awaiting car. He scowled looking in her direction as she opened the car door and hopped inside hurriedly.

He halted and gritted his teeth in irritation. She pissed him off. "How long will you ignore me?" He muttered under his breath and his eyes indicated an evil glint "I will catch you soon" the corner of his lips twitched into a knowing smirk. He walked back to his car and hopped in.

Another day passed with her ignoring him when he was again waiting outside of the college. She was driving him crazy. He needs to talk to her. He can't let his plan spoil just because of his lust, fck. He messed up drowning in lust and desire.

Rajeev returned home only at night and found Shanaya in the living room. She was seated on the floor while Reema bi was sitting on the single-seater and massaging her head.

Rajeev walked to them and sat on the settee. "Dad, why did you come late?" Shanaya asked, rising from the floor and sitting beside her father.

"There was a lot of work at the office because of the loss we faced" Rajeev sighed, pressing his forehead with his fingers. He looked exhausted. Reema bi brought water for him.

"Sir, dinner" Reema bi asked. "I already ate with the client" he responded and Reema bi sauntered back to the kitchen.

"What happened, dad? Why do you look so tense" Shanaya asked, noticing the frown line on his forehead and tense face. "My factory caught on fire that night and I had to leave the party in the middle," Rajeev said and Shanaya was shocked.

Now she figured out why he left without notifying her. She wanted to talk with her father about her phobia attack but noticing him already tensed she dropped the idea. It was just an accident and she didn't want to make it a big deal seeing her father already worked up. "But why did you not call me?" Rajeev questioned all of a sudden and Shanaya visibly tensed. "N-nothing," she lied, stuttering.

"Rest well dad I don't want you to get sick because of work," She sounded off, clutching his arm and resting her head on his shoulder. Rajeev smiled and patted her head.

His phone buzzed inside his pocket. Taking the phone out when he glanced at the caller id he immediately rejected the call. But then a message popped up on his phone.

"She's turning 21 this year. Now is the time" reading the message he tensed visibly.

After a little chit-chat, he left for his room and Shanaya climbed the stairs to go to her room.

She sat on the single-seater couch near the window of her room. The sky was dark and cloudy, it seemed like it was going to rain. The cool breeze passed through her body and she shivered slightly. Hugging her knees to her chest she gazed at the sky for a while when her phone rang drawing her attention.

Seeing an unknown number flashing on the screen she frowned but picked up the call and brought it near her ear.

"Hello?" She spoke in a small voice but didn't get any response. She frowned and attempted twice but again there was no response from the other side. She was about to hang up when a deep cold voice brought her attention and her eyes went wide. "Shanaya"

It's him. How did he get her number?

"You," a disbelieving whisper can be heard and he chuckled inwardly. She gave the same response he was anticipating her.

"Why did you call? How did you get my number?" She thanked her stars inwardly as she didn't stutter. "How are you?" Ignoring her question he asked instead, much to her annoyance.

She inhaled a shuddering breath and cut the call. Before she could sigh in relief her phone rang again. Noticing the same number she again rejected the call and blocked the number in annoyance.

He stared at the phone in disbelief. She just hung up on him and didn't even let him complete his sentence.

Irony.

"Little dove, you need a punishment" he growled while chugging on his red wine and a smirk stretched on his lips. How long would she ignore him? He gave her enough time but not anymore. He had to bring the plan into action.

He was still in his thoughts when Natasha barked in his room without knocking. "We need to rush to the hospital. There's an emergency" she said, panting heavily.

His eyes broadened and he stood up grabbing his car keys and phone from the coffee table. They both strode out of his mansion in urgency. He occupied the driving seat while Natasha took the passenger seat and drove off.

The whole night she tossed and turned on the bed but sleep was far away from her eyes. Whenever she attempted to close her eyes to get some sleep his icy blue orbs flashed in front of her eyes and just like that she couldn't sleep and when her eyes fluttered heavily it was already early morning.

At Singhania heights;

"What? What did you say?" Rajeev inquired as David swallowed but still answered him. "Yes sir, I studied the property papers and here the clause cited that Ms. Shanaya has to marry to take over all the properties her mother transferred to her name. Unless she's married she won't be able to claim the properties or even transfer in anyone's name, not even to you sir. Also if she died before her 21st birthday all the properties will be transferred to the orphanage" David replied showing him the file and indicating at the clause.

"Shit, dammit" Rajeev muttered, throwing his fist on the armrest. "When did they switch the property will? It was all in her name as soon as she turned 21 the properties will be hers" Rajiv growled and David had to lower his eyes because he can't afford to piss him off.

"I know sir you won't like this but…" David trailed and looked down but still chose to say "We already lost the factory and the loan is already too much to pay now. Our company is already facing a huge loss. If we couldn't make this deal with RM holdings I am afraid that the company will go bankrupt" David said calmly while Rajeev was frustrated with all of this. One after the other he was facing defeats. His company is on the verge of shutting down.

A year ago he has taken a huge loan from the bank. He was facing losses and to maintain his reputation in the business world he had taken a huge loan.

"For the past ten years I was waiting for this moment and now this" he snarled, banging his fist on the desk. "Sir, we have only two weeks left. After two weeks Shanaya would turn 21" David let out after a long pause.

"According to will, she has to get married, right?" Rajeev asked after a long pause "yes sir" David replied.

"I can't lose, after everything I had done, I won't give up now" muttering, he picked up his phone and dialled a number. After two or three rings the call was answered. "Yes dad," A manly voice came from the other side. "Now it's time for you to come back," Rajeev said and an evil smirk stretched on his face as he chuckled after hearing the positive answer after exchanging a few more words the call was disconnected.
