Chapter 10: Chapter Ten
So, that was the start of my week. The week that changed my life. This one week was my week of decisions. Did I or did I not want to misbehave. Did I or did I not want to do well. It was all based upon decisions. It all seemed pretty fucked up to me. I was still convinced that making this deal with Mr Dubens was too late. However, it the same time I was willing to give it a go. I wanted to see if I could change. Maybe I could somehow be a better person, somehow.
"Alice?" As soon as I heard Mr Dubens voice, I realised I had been deep in thought. I was daydreaming in class as per usual. "Hhmm?" I answered, half asleep. He was wearing just a plane white shirt today which showed off his muscular body. His sleeves were pulled up above his elbow, showing off his sexy arms. God, his shoulders. I just say there, admiring his body. "Could you tell me why a person would want to write a poem?"
"Well, um...they might have been listening to music and it might inspire.
them to write their own poem. Or...maybe they feel sad or happy and they want to express it on paper." I smiled straight at him. He stood there in shock, his lips slightly parted. I felt everyone's heads turn in my direction, all their eyes on me.
"Very good, Alice. Very good." He grinned sexily and turned towards the board to write down what I just said. 'From inspiration or emotion which they may feel the need to express.' I read what he wrote.
"Anyone else?" He asked, turning back to the class. That's when Olivia spoke up, "They might want to write some shit about a really ugly girl...someone like Alice."
"Fuck off!" I shouted over to her across the classroom. Her mates giggled in amusement and Olivia scowled at me in disgust, "You fuck off, slut!"
"Who are you calling a slut!?! The only slut in here is you!" I shouted in response.
"Oh, get over yourself, Alice! Everyone knows you’re a secret whore. I mean, look at you! Who wears a black hideous hoodie like that? You've obviously got something to hide." Suddenly, I stood up from my chair and glared at her across the classroom. I could feel the intensity and pressure of the stares from everyone in the room, everyone looking at us, staring...waiting. If anything was going to happen It was only ever going to be the complication of my fist stuck in her fat face.
"Fuck. You." I growled through gritted teeth. Before I could lunge for her Mr Dubens grabbed my shoulder in a firm grip. His breath blew against my ear, "Outside, now." I groaned and kicked my chair over with the back of my heel as I made a dramatic teenager exit. God, I'm good.
I slammed the classroom door on my way out. To be fair, I was glad Mr Dubens sent me out and the was the first time too! I buried my head in my hands, breathing deep. I am going to kill that Olivia Wood. She's so horrible, I hate her. We've been enemies ever since year seven. I don't think I could hate her any more than I already do.
I turned towards the wall and began to punch my fists against it. Oh, the pain. It was unbearable but I was so angry! I can't explain it. All I could do was plunge my fists into the wall. I continued to punch, it's all I could do, all I knew. The anger balled up within me, my fists. Just me and my fists. After a while my knuckles became saw and I took a deep breath as I glance down at the damage. My knuckles were splintered, the skin gradually peeling off, blood seeping slowly through between my fingers. "Fuck." I hissed in pain, my hand shaking like hell. The whole of my hand was red, including my other one. Both of them were in a horrible state.
Before I could acknowledge what, I was even doing, Mr Dubens stepped out of the classroom. He silently shut the door behind him and turned to face me. His eyes widened as they lowered to my bleeding knuckles. "Alice!?! What have you done to yourself!?!" I gulped and just shook my head, "I...I... I don't know, Sir." I breathed shakily, looking down at my hands in confusion.
Before I could object Mr Dubens grabbed my hand in a soft hold and pulled me down the corridor. "S-sir, where are we going?"
"To the nurse, you’re going to get yourself cleaned up and I'm taking you home tonight." It wasn't a question, it was an order. Not that I was too fond of his demanding instruction but never the less I did as he said.
"Sir, you can't take me home." I whimpered as we became only a few feet away from the medical block.
He didn't answer, he was murmuring some shit to himself. His face was full of worry or maybe even something he was actually preoccupied with. As he began pulling me further to the medical block I began to whimper. I didn't want the fuss; I didn't want to be looked after. I enjoyed suffering, seeing blood seep from my skin. It made me feel better. I deserved to be in pain. "Sir, please, NO!" I begged, snatching my hand out of his.
He twists round to face me, our eyes meeting. "I mean it, Alice! You need medical help! You can't go round punching walls!" He yelled. However, he didn't scare me. He was just stressed out over me. Ha! As if there was even any fucking need to be!
"You're not getting me, Sir! I don't want your fucking help! I look seeing myself like this!"
He slowly leaned down, so he was in level with me, his eyes sinking into mine. I suddenly found it hard to keep control of myself. "I don't think you have a choice in the matter, Miss Copper." He whispered. His face was so close to mine. Only inches between our noses.
I crossed my arms but then winced as my knuckles brushed against the fabric of my hoodie. "A-and why is that?" I winced at the pain of my bleeding knuckles. He smiled almost in amusement but more in adoration. "I doubt you'd want me to tell the headmaster about your drug habit." He whispered lowly so only my ears were accustomed to his words.
"Wh-w-what?" I stammered in disbelief. Oh no, he can't...he can't know about that. Can he? How the fuck does he know?
He gives me a slow nod, his smile disappearing gradually.
"H-how? How do you know about that?"
"I saw you outside the school gates yesterday. Dealing." He whispered as he crouched down to my level, his knees bent. I shook my head, "You're mistaken."
"Now, Alice. You should know lying is a nasty habit." He smirked as I gulped down my shock.
A teacher walked past and gave us a curious look. Mr Dubens just shot her one of his sexy smiles and she blushed girlishly. I felt like sticking my fingers into my mouth, as if she was good enough for him. She's got no chance.
I breathed and turned back to Mr Dubens as he continued looking back at me. "I'm not lying." I hiss in determination. I wasn't going to let him win. Never. He smirked once again almost in laughter. I felt so stupid, lying to a teacher as smart as him.
"You can't deny it, Alice. I saw you, with my own eyes. I saw him hand the drugs to you."
"No, no, no...I must be dreaming!" I panicked, covering my ears as my knuckles continued to bleed. I caught Mr Dubens glancing at my bleeding knuckles and there was nothing but concern in his eyes. "Alice, you need to go to the nurse." He murmurs, softly dragging one of my hands from my ear.
"Fine!" I snapped, barging passed him and entering the medical block where the Nurse's office was. Before I turned the corner to walk into the Nurse's office, I turned to face him. He was silently following me, making sure I made it safely there. I gave him my best death glare and point up to him, "But afterwards, you have to explain this to me!"
He let out a light chuckle, his face breaking into a bright and sexy grin. "What have I got to explain, Miss Copper?" I groaned in frustration, "You know what I mean!" With that I stomped into the Nurse's office, shutting the door behind me.
The school Nurse Miss Rosenquist, was sitting at her desk with the phone to her ear. She was in the middle of a conversation with a student's parent as an ill boy was sitting next to her desk. I glanced over at him. He had blonde hair and bright green eyes. He was holding a bag of frozen peas against the right side of his head. He looked so pale! So, I'll! I wonder what his name was...
Miss Rosenquist eventually ended the call with the person who seems to have been his parent. She eventually hung up and placed the phone down, her eyes shooting back over to him. "Ok, Callum. Your Dad is going to pick you up. Take a seat outside and you can wait for him there." With that, the boy named Callum stood up carefully. He kept hold of the frozen bags of pees to his head in a firm hold.
He glanced towards me as I creeped in passed him. Our eyes met and I smiled softly at him. He smiled back and walked out, sitting down on one of the patient seats outside Miss Rosenquist's office.
"Hello, Alice. And what is wrong with YOU today?" Miss Rosenquist asked as I turned towards her. She looked up at me from where she sat at her desk.
"I punched a wall." I smiled as I held my hands out to her. She looked down at them and gasped. "My god, Alice! What did you do that for!?"
I shrugged, "I was angry."
"That shouldn't matter! You don't punch walls!" She exclaimed, examining my hands. "Tsk, tsk, tsk." She stuts disappointedly.
"Ok, run the under cold water in the sink over there." She pointed towards the sink in the corner of the room. It was a plain silver sink on a white counter which had two white cabinets above it.
I did as she said and walked over to it. I turned the tap on and held my hand under it. As soon as the cold water hit my sore and bleeding knuckles, I struggled to not scream. Oh god, the pain was so bad. I didn't realise how much anger was inside me at times. I really need to control myself when I get in such a state.
I stood there in silence as I hovered over the sink. I gazed down at the cold flowing water that swam alone my skin, filling into the cuts and scratches of my knuckles. It felt sore from the cold contact of the water, but at the same time I felt relieved.
Once I was finished, I pulled away and turned the tap off. As I turned to dry my hands on the towel beside me, I overheard Miss Rosenquist talking to someone on the phone. She had obviously picked the phone up again and called someone to tell the, something important as it sounded pretty urgent. Only, I couldn't catch what she was saying as she was whispering most of it, so I was unable to hear.
"You...I know, I know...yes, I has problems but...yes...ok...fine, I'll sort it..." She whispered something and shot a glance over her shoulder. "Yes...we'll...ok...yeah...yeah...ok..." She muttered in between sentences where she obviously couldn't get a word in.
"Ok....yes, of course. Bye." With that Miss Rosenquist hung up and looked over at me. With that I jumped out of my daydream and pounced away from the sink. "Err, yeah. Thanks Miss. I'll leave now." He smiled sheepishly and made my way to the door. Miss Rosenquist just muttered a goodbye and went back to typing something on her computer.
