Chapter 157: Action

Chapter 157: Action

Hearing this, Sophia replied without hesitation, "No problem."

Abigail raised an eyebrow, paused for a moment, then briefly outlined the entire plan.

"We're planning to use the finished formula as bait to lure Felix in. Given Felix's suspicious nature, he'll definitely come. Plus, he likes to eliminate all threats completely - as long as we're still alive, he absolutely won't tolerate it."

"Exactly." Natalia added, "Over these years, I've also secretly collected quite a bit of information about him. I've made backup copies of the island's data too. If I expose this evidence around the world, it would be enough to take him down both in Emerald Harbor and overseas. Of course, that's assuming I live long enough to do it."

"We'll send the evidence to the Emerald Harbor police and several overseas regulatory agencies after he arrives at the meeting location," Natalia continued. "When Felix comes, he definitely won't come unprepared. He'll probably have people lying in ambush all around - the meeting spot will be surrounded by his men, inside and out."

Abigail nodded and naturally picked up where Natalia left off. "So we need someone to take out the people on the perimeter before he arrives. Or at least clear out a few key positions so we have an escape route."

"I can do it." Sophia clenched her fists, her eyes determined.

Abigail stared at her, silent for a few seconds, then said coldly, "There are four key points on the perimeter. I'll give you a map. Two hours before the operation starts, take out the people at these four points, then retreat to a safe position and wait for the signal."

"Also, if you run into danger, leave immediately. Don't worry about us. The most important thing is keeping yourself safe." Abigail added firmly.

Sophia didn't respond to that last part. She asked in a low voice, "What's the signal?"

"The sound of breaking glass." Natalia snapped her fingers and smiled. "That's when we'll need you."

Sophia nodded seriously. "Anything else?"

"Nothing for now." Natalia blinked, her eyes brighter than before. "So, see you the day after tomorrow."

Abigail let out a soft snort. Looking at Sophia, her eyes held less coldness and resistance. She spoke up to remind her, "Be careful on your way back. Felix has been watching our movements."

"Got it, Aunt Abigail." Sophia smiled and addressed her warmly.

Abigail stood up to leave. When she reached the curtain, she paused, looked back at Sophia, and saw her eyes glistening with tears. Her heart softened a bit. She nodded gently and left.

The antique shop door closed. The wind from the street blew against her face. Sophia took a deep breath and walked with steady steps.

The day after tomorrow, she couldn't make any mistakes. No matter how dangerous, she had to complete her part of the mission.

She turned out of the alley onto the main road. There weren't many people around, just the occasional passing car. Suddenly, she heard the urgent sound of an engine.

Her body reacted before her mind could - she jumped to the side.

A black car shot out from a side street at high speed, heading straight for where she had been standing. The tires made a piercing screech against the ground.

Sophia landed and rolled once. Her knee scraped the ground. She looked up and saw the car continue forward in uncontrolled momentum, crashing head-on into a wall by the roadside.

Bang!

The huge crash exploded in the night. Several pedestrians nearby screamed and scattered in all directions. "Someone got hit! Someone got hit!"

The scene instantly turned chaotic.

Sophia coughed a few times, pushed herself up from the ground, and dusted off her pants. She glanced toward the car.

The driver's window was shattered, the airbag deployed. The person inside was slumped over the steering wheel, twitched once, then went still.

She stared at the figure for two seconds, a vague sense of unease rising in her heart. She seemed to be being watched.

The pain from her knee wound finally registered. She bit her lower lip, turned around, and walked in the opposite direction from the scattering crowd, her pace neither fast nor slow.

After walking about two blocks, she heard police sirens in the distance, getting closer.

She didn't look back.

When she returned to The Kensington Estate, Alexander noticed the wound on her leg and frowned.

"What happened?"

"Wasn't watching where I was going. Fell by accident."

Sophia answered casually and started treating the wound herself.

Alexander said nothing, took the cleaning cotton from her hand, and said in a low voice, "Let me."

He knew Sophia was lying. Because he was worried about her, he had secretly sent people to follow her. They hadn't been discovered the whole way, and they knew someone had tried to hit her with a car. But he also knew clearly that Sophia wouldn't voluntarily tell him the details, and he wouldn't ask.

Given their current delicate relationship, it was better for him to protect her quietly from behind.

Alexander lowered his eyes and carefully treated Sophia's wound.

"Don't run around these next few days with your leg injured."

"It'll be fine tomorrow."

Sophia replied absently. Alexander looked up at her, his clear blue eyes unfathomably deep.

His thin lips parted slightly, as if he wanted to say something, but in the end he just pressed them together, finished bandaging her gently, and walked away.

The day after tomorrow, 1:30 PM.

West district of Emerald Harbor, an abandoned warehouse building, surrounded by several semi-old streets with sparse foot traffic.

Felix sat in his car, reading the message Abigail had sent him again.

[The formula is in my hands, and so is the evidence. Let's talk once. You set the terms. Address attached.]

He half-closed his eyes, put down his phone, leaned back in his seat, and smiled softly.

Negotiate terms with him? How interesting.

He understood Abigail. She wouldn't compromise easily, but her personality was stubborn and cold. Smart but obstinate - she made a very useful chess piece.

Originally he had wanted to keep her by his side, but Sophia's appearance had disrupted everything. The never-wrong Abigail had actually made a huge mistake - letting Sophia escape and turning the testing facility into a complete mess. Even her thinking had become problematic. She no longer followed his orders completely, and even secretly contacted Sophia, wanting to help her.

He had seen everything Abigail had been doing behind the scenes. He didn't need a chess piece that had deviated from its track, no matter how useful that piece was.

Felix's expression darkened, and a sense of pity surprisingly rose in his heart.

He raised his hand and made a call. "Proceed as planned. After I go in, no one moves without my order."

"Yes." The man's voice was mature and steady.

After hanging up, he straightened his collar, pushed open the car door, and walked toward the warehouse.

Outside the warehouse perimeter, Sophia had already been waiting for nearly two hours.

She had long since noticed the people lying in ambush all around. Presumably some of those people had also spotted her. But like her, they hadn't made any rash moves.

Seeing Felix get out of the car, Sophia knew it was time to act.

She moved quietly away from her hiding spot, using the buildings for cover, gradually shifting closer to the first target.

Whoosh!

A sharp dagger flew out.
