Chapter 190 They Don’t Have the Guts

Chapter 190 They Don’t Have the Guts

Alexander ignored him, just lowered his head and gently wiped away the tear stains on Ethan's face with his fingertips.

"Don't be afraid. I'm here."

After saying that, he handed Ethan to the person behind him and carefully made his way forward, emitting a cold aura.

Catherine rushed over, took Ethan from Zack's arms, and held him tightly, her emotions indescribable.

"You want the data?" Alexander walked up to the masked man, looking at him with eyes devoid of any warmth.

"I'll give you a choice."

He slowly lifted his foot and stepped on the masked man's wrist, then gradually ground it down.

There was a cracking sound.

"Ahhhhh!" The masked man screamed, he was in so much pain he could barely speak, with cold sweat breaking out on his back.

Alexander's expression didn't change at all. His voice was low and hoarse.

"Tell me who made you do this, and perhaps if I'm in a good mood, I could let you go."

The masked man was in unbearable pain and didn't hesitate to speak up when he heard those words.

"I'll talk! It was Robert Davis! Robert from K Group!"

He collapsed on the ground. "He didn't want to kill anyone, really! He just wanted to teach you a lesson and get the data. He didn't expect things to get this big!"

They only looked fierce, but never actually intended to do anything more.

Alexander's foot still didn't move. His expression remained emotionless as he stared at the man in front of him.

"Whether you intended to or not, you did this, and you deserve to pay for it."

The masked man felt like his hand was about to break. He couldn't say a word, his whole body trembling.

"Zack." He spoke calmly.

"Mr. Russell." Zack's figure emerged from behind, looking at the person on the ground with no warmth in his eyes.

" Handle this. ."

"Yes."

As soon as he finished speaking, uniformed police officers walked over and tied them all up.

Alexander walked over, took off his coat, and pulled both Catherine and Ethan into his arms, speaking slowly.

"Don't be afraid anymore. Let's go home. It's all over. They won't dare do anything again."

These people just looked arrogant on the surface, but actually couldn't do anything. Whatever they wanted to do, they had to consider whether they had the ability.

......

Half an hour later, at the Russell Villa, the family doctor gave Ethan a thorough examination and found nothing serious except some minor external injuries.

"He's been badly frightened. . You'll need to protect him more. He might wake up suddenly when sleeping recently."

Catherine felt a bit relieved hearing this and nodded slightly. "As long as he's okay."

After saying a few more words, the family doctor quietly left.

In the bedroom, Catherine sat by the bed, wiping Ethan's face with a towel. Thinking about what happened today, her heart clenched.

After some time, Ethan's eyelashes moved slightly, and he slowly opened his eyes.

The moment he saw Catherine, his little mouth quivered, but he held back from crying. Still, his voice carried a hint of grievance.

"Mommy..."

"I'm here." Catherine leaned down and gently kissed his forehead, her movements especially tender.

"Mommy, am I being bad?" Ethan asked softly, his voice filled with grievance and fear. "That bad man said it's all because of me that you wouldn't listen."

He was just a child—how could he understand all this? Those people were clearly talking nonsense.

Catherine's heart felt like it was being stabbed with needles. She shook her head. "No, you were especially brave. When you woke up, you didn't cry or make a fuss. It's my fault for not handling this well."

She asked many more questions, and Ethan told her everything he knew, his voice breaking intermittently.

"When he tied me up, he wouldn't let me talk, and I heard your voice, but my mouth was covered and I couldn't speak."

He was too young and rarely went out, especially encountering so many people—he didn't know how to react.

Catherine just listened, tears falling onto the blanket. "It's okay now. We drove the bad people away. They'll never dare bully you again."

She gently comforted him until Ethan fell asleep in her arms. Only then did she breathe a sigh of relief, lay him down, and quietly walked out.

In the living room, Nora and Liam were still there. Alexander was standing by the floor-to-ceiling window on the phone.

Seeing her come out, Nora immediately rushed over and asked in a low voice, "How's Ethan?"

"He's asleep." Catherine's voice was hoarse, clearly from crying.

Just then, Alexander hung up the phone and turned around. His face was dark.

Catherine's heart tightened, immediately sensing something was wrong. "What happened? The police station..."

"They were released on bail." Alexander's voice was flat, impossibly flat.

"What?"

Nora exploded first, her voice rising considerably. "Bail? This was kidnapping! How can they be released on bail?!"

She couldn't imagine what kind of people would have the nerve to bail them out.

Alexander's gaze fell on Catherine's face as he continued, "Their paperwork was all in order. Emerald City's most famous legal team came forward, and most importantly, someone from above made a call."

He paused, then said the last few words. He had thought they could catch them all in one sweep, but didn't expect them to get out so easily.

"Fuck!" Nora was shaking with anger. She kicked the sofa, her eyes red. "Bastards! What kind of world is this! Is there no justice? Kidnappers can be released—are they running the whole show now?!"

"And they told us not to investigate further, saying it won't do us any good." Liam spoke slowly.

Hearing this, Catherine's body trembled slightly, barely able to stand.

"But if they're not arrested, we won't be safe. I'm not afraid for myself, but what about Ethan?"

Alexander pulled her into his arms and looked down at her pale face.

"Don't be afraid. If they want to run the show here, they'll have to ask if we agree first. They don't have the ability or the guts."

Liam sneered. "They're not even here and they have the audacity to boss us around. They should think about what they're actually capable of."
