Chapter 183 Poor Reputation
Chapter 183 Poor Reputation
Everyone was commenting online, and their words were extremely vicious.
[Oh my God! Is this a miracle drug or poison? This is terrifying!]
[My family was just about to buy it, but thank goodness we haven't used it yet! Capitalists will do anything for money!]
[Wasn't Catherine hyped up as some kind of goddess? Is this what she's giving us? Get out of here and give us our money back!]
In just one hour, everyone was talking about this, and the stock price was plummeting.
Eric was on the verge of tears, "Ms. Spencer, what do we do? The online criticism is terrible, and some people are saying they're going to report us..."
Catherine's gaze swept across those photos one by one, her eyes deep and serious, but her face showed no panic. She handed the tablet back to Eric.
"Notify all executives - emergency meeting in the conference room in ten minutes."
"Yes!"
Catherine added, "Call Glenn and have him immediately take people to the sample storage facility. Seal all product batches mentioned in the online allegations on the spot. No one is allowed to touch them."
"Understood!"
Eric nodded and rushed out. Catherine felt an inexplicable heaviness in her heart. She didn't need to investigate to know that someone was definitely behind this deliberately.
Ten minutes later, all the executives had gathered in the conference room, everyone looking serious.
Catherine entered the conference room and walked to the head seat, her gaze sweeping across the room, her expression revealing little.
"I'm sure you're all aware of the situation." She got straight to the point.
The PR director spoke first, sweating profusely, "Ms. Spencer, public opinion is completely out of our control. I suggest we immediately issue an apology statement to calm consumer emotions..."
"No apology necessary." Catherine cut him off directly. "We haven't done anything wrong, so why should we apologize?"
She stood up, placed both hands on the conference table, and leaned forward slightly. She still didn't know the specific details of the situation and couldn't admit to such problems just because of this post.
"Let me tell everyone - first, we need to issue an official announcement. The content should acknowledge that we've noticed this issue and will protect consumer rights. We've also temporarily suspended sales of this medication."
This was already the best response possible in such a short time. Anything else would probably need more consideration.
"Additionally, every step from packaging to production must be thoroughly checked. We can't overlook any data."
Now that everything was out in the open, it didn't sound great, and everyone was well aware of this.
"And from now on, everyone needs to be on the same page. Except for the official announcement, don't accept any media interviews. Send me everything that's been publicly released."
No one objected to Catherine's suggestions. Everyone thought they were good, so they nodded in agreement.
"Alright, let's get to work now and resolve all these matters as quickly as possible."
After the meeting ended, Catherine returned to her office. Just as she sat down, the door opened, and Alexander walked in, with Zack following behind him.
He walked up to her, took off his suit jacket, and draped it over her shoulders.
"I know everything about your situation. Don't worry about any of this. From now on, you can use these teams, and they'll only answer to you." Alexander's voice was low and steady.
As soon as he heard about this, he felt upset and wanted to come over right away. Fortunately, he could help.
Catherine looked up, initially wanting to refuse, but thinking about the current need, she decided not to say anything.
"Okay."
Alexander's team set up a small command center next door, and their efficiency was very high.
Zack, holding a report, quickly walked up to Catherine. "Ms. Spencer, these accounts were registered in large numbers and show jumping patterns. They look like internet trolls."
Catherine nodded. This was within her expectations. She was handling this matter quite slowly, but with a team, it should be faster.
"Keep investigating."
"Yes."
Throughout the afternoon, both teams kept busy with this matter. By evening, the entire company was brightly lit, and no one dared to rest.
"Found it!"
Suddenly, someone shouted from the crowd, and everyone's faces showed hints of relief.
"Finally found something! Now we don't have to pull an all-nighter and worry ourselves sick."
"Ms. Spencer, Mr. Russell, look! After comparing these photos, we found that the original images were posted on a foreign website three years ago."
Their description was identical to the technical analysis. People who didn't know better would think they were real, but now it turned out they were all photoshopped.
"And not only that, but we also found the real identity of one of the alleged victims. He claimed online that he had no money, but two hours ago, he was vacationing at the beach."
If he didn't have money, how could he be living such a carefree life?
Hearing this, Catherine roughly understood what was going on, her expression showing a hint of seriousness.
The office door burst open, and Zack rushed in, looking even worse than he had that afternoon.
"Mr. Russell, Ms. Spencer, something's wrong! It's worse than we thought!"
He handed his phone to them both, showing a message they had just received.
"They're not just faking allergy evidence!" Zack's voice was trembling. "They're planning to release a fake testing report from an institution tomorrow morning at nine, in collaboration with over a dozen media outlets!"
Alexander's eyes instantly turned cold. Catherine took the phone and looked at the content, her pupils contracting sharply.
"The report's content is very simple - it claims the product contains carcinogenic substances, which is why people had allergic reactions and a series of other problems after taking it."
Hearing this, everyone's faces fell, their expressions particularly ugly.
"This is disgusting. They can't make it themselves so they start slandering us. How could we possibly put such things in our product?"
Especially the technical staff - when they heard this, their expressions weren't just unpleasant; they practically wanted to go over and give them a piece of their mind.
"They have no ability so they smear us. They should perfect their own products first."
Hearing this, Catherine raised her eyebrows slightly. "It's very difficult to create a fake testing report. They don't have the necessary materials."
