Chapter 182
Chapter 182
Nora deliberately sent him away, then called Catherine, insisting they had to go out for drinks that evening, no matter what.
That night at the bar, Nora set a glass of whiskey on the counter, her expression tinged with frustration.
"I'm telling you, Liam is absolutely crazy!"
Catherine looked at the mojito in front of her. She hadn't really been drinking it, just thought it looked pretty nice. With a hint of amusement in her eyes, she asked, "What do you mean?"
Just thinking about it annoyed Nora, and her voice rose considerably.
"Now he follows me everywhere I go. Even yesterday, when I went shopping, I ran into him. Why is he tracking me every single day?"
Thinking about Liam's recent behavior made her feel terribly strange, and she was very irritated.
The more she talked, the angrier she got, and she took a big gulp of her drink. "And he keeps bringing me food every day! What pisses me off most is that he keeps bringing up my figure!"
Catherine raised an eyebrow, interested now. "Did he say you weren't fully developed again?"
She knew about that incident, and even now, thinking about it made her want to laugh.
Nora pursed her lips, her cheeks inexplicably warming. "No, he said, I'm too skinny, that I need to eat more, or the wind will blow me away."
Catherine watched her and finally couldn't help but laugh softly. She set down her glass and quietly walked over.
"Nora."
"What?"
"He's pursuing you."
Nora's eyes instantly widened. She opened her mouth but couldn't make a sound for a long time.
"What are you talking about!"
She seemed uncomfortable, her words carrying a trace of displeasure. "How could he possibly be pursuing me? He's a playboy, and besides, I have such a bad temper, I could knock him out with one punch."
Thinking about it, she felt it was even more impossible and shook her head.
"He helped you deal with that difficult client," Catherine reminded her.
"That was him being nosy!"
"He feeds you on time every day."
"That's because he has too much money to spend!"
"He remembers you don't drink coffee with sugar, knows you like the desserts from that shop on the west side of town," Catherine added slowly.
"Sometimes men aren't that complicated. Their thinking is simple. When they spend money and effort on you, there's only one reason for that." Catherine picked up her glass and gently swirled it.
Hearing this, Nora suddenly didn't know what to say. Her mind went completely blank, unable to speak.
"That's impossible..." She was still being stubborn, but her voice had weakened, and the hand holding her glass was trembling.
Catherine watched her reaction and shook her head helplessly, reaching out to press her hand. "Why don't you just go ask him?"
"Ask what! I'm not going!" Nora jumped to her feet.
"Really not going? What if it's true? Since when are you such a coward?"
"Who's a coward!" She stiffened her neck. "Fine, I'll go! I'm going to get to the bottom of this today. If he's messing with me, I'll break one of his legs!"
With that, she grabbed her bag, stomped out in her heels, and rushed out of the bar, leaving Catherine behind.
Downstairs at the Thornton Group building, Nora paced back and forth by the flower bed, making about eight hundred rounds before finally seeing Liam's sports car emerge from the parking garage.
The car stopped by the roadside. Liam rolled down the window, and when he saw her, a smile appeared on his face.
"Did the sun rise in the west today? You're actually here waiting for me?"
Nora rushed to the car in two quick strides, planted her hands on the window frame, leaned down, and stared at him intently.
"Liam, I'm asking you, what exactly do you want?"
Liam leaned back in his seat, looking at her. He unbuckled his seatbelt and pushed the door open to get out.
Nora instinctively took a step back.
"I thought I'd been obvious enough," Liam said, closing the car door and putting his hands in his pockets as he walked toward her step by step.
"Obvious about what?" Nora stammered, her whole demeanor clearly different.
Liam stopped in front of her, less than an arm's length away, and looked down at her.
"Nora," he called her name, his voice low, "I like you."
Nora felt like she didn't know how to react. She stared at him blankly, unable to say anything.
Seeing her like this, the amusement in Liam's eyes deepened, and he continued speaking slowly.
"From that time in the bar, when I watched you from afar protecting Catherine, I found you were interesting."
"Seeing you drunk and crying your eyes out, but still stubbornly saying you were fine, I thought you were adorable."
He paused, reaching out to lightly touch her cheek with his fingertip. The warm touch made Nora's whole body tremble. "I just wanted to tease you because I thought it was fun, so I said those things."
Nora's face, from her cheeks to her ears, instantly flushed red.
"I have things to do at my studio! I need to go!"
She blurted out the words incoherently, spun around, and practically walked with both arms and legs on the same side.
Liam was amused by her reaction but didn't chase after her. He just stood there, the smile on his face growing wider.
Three months later, Hope Horizon Foundation specially developed some new drugs that, after clinical trials, were ready to be launched on the market.
Catherine directly announced this news, and instantly, all the media were talking about it.

The Harrison Group's stock price had multiplied several times over in just half a month, and those who had bought in earlier had made quite a bit of money.
That afternoon, on the top floor of the Harrison Group, Catherine had just finished a video conference.
The office door was suddenly pushed open, and her assistant, face pale, rushed over with a laptop.
"Ms. Spencer, we have a problem!"
Catherine took the laptop , her eyes falling on the screen, which was filled with trending topics.
Harrison Group's New Drug Causes Disfigurement.
Clicking in, there were posts everywhere, all published at the same time, saying that after taking the drug, there was no improvement, and allergic reactions had occurred instead.
Below the posts were photos showing varying degrees of skin damage on different people, all looking terrible.
The comment section had completely fallen, and public opinion was now one-sided.
